Went there on Thursday. Noticed the special on the front Half price meals - kids eat free. Stopped in and ordered. 2 adult meals 2 kids meals. I paid but didn't take note on how much just tapped my card *my fault Turns out they charged me full price for everything Great food and atmosphere

We booked this on short notice. We were staying at Western Plains Taronga Zoofari and didn't get to explore things like the Dubbo gaol in town, so we decided to add a night. As 40 year veterans of the Hospitality industry, my wife behind the bar and me usually in front of it, we had a very good idea of what we were getting into. We stayed on a Friday night, and a quick check of the socials we saw that a DJ show was scheduled for that night, but we heard pretty much just muffled sound, nothing to disturb us. Space was tight, It was clean where it counts, Aircon filter could of used a bit of attention, walls and carpet had a bit of a tale to tell, but to me it is nice to know if you accidentally add a sentence to the story - downstairs ain't gunna sweat too much, as always adding a paragraph or chapter you will be looking for trouble but... ||Talking about downstairs- the staff were so helpful and friendly, the food was awesome. The position is also awesome really central, just make sure you take advantage of the car park if you have booked, the council parking police are very diligent in their enforcement of the one hour limit for street parking. ||One last thing. Amaroo- add toilet brushes to the bathroom. After the bistro had shut, I had a craving for a hot chilli Kebab, went a couple of doors down and got one. Next morning - in the immortal words of the 12th man Billy Birmingham, I damaged the Doulton quite a bit. We did make a big effort to clean it brushless with a lot of flushing, but apologies to the person that ended up with the job of cleaning it.

Visiting family in Dubbo and went for Saturday lunch 3 people had the roast special which was really good, 1 had the mix grill and I had the chicken schnitzel and it was a really large serving but very nice and tasty. The service was above and beyond we had a bit leftover of the schnitzel so they put it in a container and asked several times during the meal if everything was ok. Will be back on my next trip.

This was our 2nd stay at The Amaroo Hotel. We found the rooms pretty basic. No screens or curtains on the showers, no extra blankets or pillows in the rooms. The AC worked in one room but not the other, the fridge was on it's way out & the double bed we had was horrible (def had it's day (can feel the springs in the mattress). I doubt i would stay here a 3rd time. The place could definitely use a touch up & some TLC. The pub itself is fine but the accommodation is very ordinary.

The staff were very friendly and hospitable. |The rooms were tidy, but I wouldn't say clean. There was a foul smell in the room which I could not locate. Very outdated and in need of some major upgrades. The best part was the shower! Lots of pressure and very hot! :-)

The room was small but adequate for our needs, the bed was very comfortable and facilities okay, we were able to have a hot shower with plenty of water.|We would recommend the Amaroo hotel to family and friends.|Personnel were friendly and helpful.

The fact that there was no lift and we were on the third floor was the biggest disappointment. I will never stay here again.|There were so many small details that could be remedied, such as I wished there was a blanket as I could not sleep due to it being cold. I would have like the option of a second pillow. Enough said, it's run down and tired. Very tired.|

The Amaroo is absolutely disgusting. We have witnessed suspicious actions in the bathrooms which also has a history of SA, instead of being taken seriously, we just received a security guard telling us we had too much to drink and kicked us out. We are only writing this review for people to stay safe

Rooms are average, but ok if you are just sleeping.some rooms are better than others, but I generally don't expect much from these pub type places. The staff are very polite, really good chicken Schnitzels, rump is ok.

Re Bistro…after Covid, the Bistro appeared to have new management as although the prices were increased, the quality of the food improved tremendously. But we visited for lunch yesterday after a few months anbsence and the food has reverted once again to mediocre! Range of choice for lunch specials is depleted! Couldn’t even get the favourite fish and chips or grilled salmon and salad! Typical fried food, overcooked and dried. I had the seafood combo..with chips and salad. The chips were ok but the seafood was terrible and the salad was even deader than the ‘dead food people’ covered with grated cheese and carrot to hide the wilted lettuce! The other meal we ordered was the roast of the day. Served on a small cold plate with meanest helping of overcooked vegetables! Once more, we won’t be returning for a while hoping the management will pick up its game yet again!!

Not user-friendly for people with disabilities like myself (acquired brain injury) - elevator wasn't working, therefore had to climb 4 flights of stairs.|One of the wall railings was missing which made it unsafe for me to use the stairs. These factors meant that I became very unsteady, out of balance and out of breath.|How this place could be listed on your website and pass WHS regulations is beyond me.|Staff attitude upon arrival seemed like she didn't want to be there.|Taps in bathroom were broken.|We left within 10 mins of arriving. Losing $100-odd was nothing compared to my safety.

Make sure you get what you ordered. Check it when you pick up from counter. Not receiving the whole order & then coming out yelling at customers is very unprofessional and unexpected. Total lack of service from the bistro managers.

Looked ok in the photos so I said to my offsides alright mate we will try this one for the night|Now don’t get me wrong I wasn’t expecting a great deal but after I had paid for the two rooms the receptionist/bar server said with a grin “ you need to go up those stairs behind you then open a door with your room key and go up two more flights of stairs to get to your room on the third floor” I said what about the lift, again with a grin “oh it doesn’t work”|Ok so we go upstairs to our rooms and as I previously mentioned I didn’t expect 4 star accommodation. The room barely fitted the bed let alone a small bar fridge, the carpet was, well I’m not sure if it was once dark grey and faded in spots or it has stains all over it.|Oh well let’s go down to the bistro and see what time it opens hahaha “sorry we will have to change the sign as it is not open on a Monday night. Needless to say I will never be coming back to this place

It's pretty unreal that this can even be a place that is advertised as a place of accomodation. I've spent $100 a night in some low budget places but the Amaroo is 5 levels below that. A window that opened only 5cm but let a bunch of spiderwebs in, a door that let hallway light in and rattled in the wind that breezed through the building, a bathroom room with a sink falling off the wall and leaking drain, a shower recess without a shower door, causing the door frame to rust, no toilet brush. Zero furniture in the room, the fridge just sat in the corner with a kettle on top. There was a mysterious stain on the ceiling paint peeling and mouldy orange around it. Carpet didn't look preofessionally cleaned for 5 years, and lumpy carpet throughout the hotel. definitely won't return or recommend.

I had to cancel my booking 3 weeks before due date. Bloody hard they do not answer the ph, it goes to message bank of a different number. They do not reply to msg. I can not rate any thing else. Only this i think there is a lot of fake reviews on here.

Great stopover on our way to QLD . The staff were amazing - friendly and very welcoming. Bistro in hotel was fantastic. Meat, vegetables and great salads- no hunting for a meal after a long drive The bed was wonderful, and the room very clean. The room had character which adds to a hotel.

Dropped in for drink at the bar, and it was pretty uninspiring!!|The young lady who served us was nice enough, just the pub is at a different level. Just the level it’s at is probably in the 80’s. |It could be so much better, and it’s really well located in the heart of Dubbo.

Don’t go here if you want decent service! Tried and tried to call, left voicemails in the hope we’d be called back to arrange after hours check in to no avail. No answer and no call back! Work colleague staying with us tried to organise pick up of the keys but they refused. Drove 12 hours only to get to hour destination and not be able check in and sleep. What a joke, answer your damn phone!!

Basic room but quite sufficient for our needs, and the price was perfect. The meal we had in the restaurant was exceptional (lamb shank with veg and a mixed grill), even though I couldn’t finish it. The chef gave us a complimentary sticky pork starter, which was to die for too! Well done!

Basic accommodation at best. - No WiFi - accommodation on 3rd floor - lift out of order - car park at rear of hotel, need to carry luggage to front access thru public bar then up 3 flights stairs. - no chairs - fridge sounds like a train. - 2 penny size soap bars for toiletries - cob webs everywhere - no lamps, only one main light - noisy all round. Great location but needs a major update. Stayed as last resort accommodation with other venues fully booked at the time & will be the last. P.S BYO ear plugs & toiletries.

Almost impossible for people with disability to access - lift was broken, had to climb 4 flights of stairs to get to the room. Taps broken. One of the stair rails was missing from the wall. Surely a WHS concern here.

All the hotels in Dubbo were booked out so I ended up with a late booking at the Amaroo. It was interesting. On the plus side: bargain price, big room, comfortable bed, big bathroom, efficient air conditioning, hot water in shower. There was an electric jug. Reasonably quiet even though on the main street. On the minus side: 3 single beds, no chair or wardrobe. Room smelled unaired and dank. Windows opened only a crack. Had to ask for another roll of toilet paper. Bathroom sink leaked. No door handle on the bathroom door. One power point not working. No information provided about how to get back into the hotel after hours (use my room key in the external door) or whether there was WiFi. I don’t know whether this was typical of other rooms. Quirky: bolts on the outside of the door of this and the adjoining room so I wonder whether they are used to hold prisoners on court days? Maybe that explains the bare essentials.
