When we were there, it was very busy with a lot of parties. All the tables in the outside area were reserved, so if you were to just turn up for lunch, you would find it hard to get a table. The outside area was a little cramped and very noisy. It was hard to have a conversation without yelling. The kids' play area is really good and kept the kids occupied most of the day. Food was well priced and tasted lovely but very limited. I would love to go back, but maybe during the week when it may not be as busy.

What the HECK is an 'extra fee'? No explanation, doesn't appear until right at the payment screen. We are not here on a public holiday just a Friday. So many extra fees!? What is an extra fee???

We were keen to try the $15 Chicken Schnitzel Wednesday night special to compare it to our local $15 Chicken Schnitzel at The Empire in Annandale… the verdict: great quality chicken and portion and also the batter to chicken ratio: 5/5. Chips were good too but a bit stingy on the portion: 3/5. Salad and dressing was okay: 3/5 but the $2.50 extra I paid for the traditional gravy (which is free and comes in a gravy boat at The Empire Annandale), is 1/5 at Argenton Hotel! The gravy was watered down and barely gravy but salty water. It came in a tiny pot! You’re better off selecting the free bbq sauce! But other than that, the meal was good. The venue was recently renovated, nice seating and surroundings. Bonus was the kids play area that was undercover. But to get seating you had to booked in advance. The venue would do well to maintain the kids play area - the big yellow slide had a massive crack at the bottom and we worry that kids will slash their legs or hands coming down it. Free parking, $17 cocktails and $10 kids meals that came with free ice cream! Although please do not order the chicken nugget meal for your child! It was horrid! It wasn’t even real chicken! Tasteless! Our son loves chicken nuggets and after I asked him multiple times to eat it, he finally complained saying he didn’t like the taste of it. So I tried it and oh my goodness! It was disgusting! Had no taste! Do not order this for your kids! I fed him my chicken schnitzel instead; at least that was real chicken! Our daughter had the meat balls and spaghetti - that was nice, just lacked seasoning but for kids it’s perfect. In terms of service, we ordered via QR code and got slugged with a 3% service charge! Wait time for food at 6pm on a school holiday was around 10-15 mins (okay), and the venue had trivia night too so that was pretty fast service considering it was a busy night. Probably wouldn’t come here again unless we are staying up the road at the Macquarie 4 Star.

Went in for Mother's Day breakfast today and it was delicious! Our little one loved the play area there too which was a bonus! Would definitely recommend!

Went for lunch and was a good selection. Amazing playground for young and school-age children to play. Great for a catch-up with friends or to just have a relaxing meal. Forgot to mention gluten-free and dairy free options. Although not a lot for a child, a good range for them to have a selection. Not great for diabetic. the only option for soft drinks is sugar-free coke. With a massive playground, I think I expected more options for dietary. Good for now and than as all day dining.

We had our daughter's 5th Birthday Party here and I highly recommend it. The kids entertained themselves in the playground, and it was a comfortable environment for the parents to hang out and mingle too. Staff were great and left us to our own devices so it was actually perfect because we felt like it was private enough as if it were our party but without any of the cooking and mess to clean up. Thanks Argy!

We had a wonderful lunch at the hotel today. The staff, particularly Sharna were really accomodating and friendly. The meals were all very good and well priced.

We attended this venue today as part of a party of 12, one of our party discovered earlier in the day on the venues website that the pasta dishes were on special at $16. Some of our group chose this option then one of our ladies ordered the same and was told that price only applied if you paid cash, upon checking we learnt that all the other guests in our party had paid by card, the other issue we experienced after selecting and paying for our meals between 1210 and 1220 2 of our party waited till 1320 for their meals to arrive, by which time everyone else had finished their meals. Unfortunately most of our group enjoyed their meals but sadly we probably won’t return.

TJ has an amazing personality, she is very hard working & does it all with a smile. Food was great unfortunately the timing of the food coming out to the table wasn't ideal, two meals came out 20 minutes after everyone else had finished.

The only thing going for this place is the play equipment. Never a good experience with food, there’s always something wrong, missed or not nice. And do the staff even know how to smile?? Even when addressing issues they are never apologetic but rather give excuses.

The food was a delicious, lovely family-friendly atmosphere. Big screens to cater to the footy/sports lovers. Great value and meals to fill all your plate. I love a menu that keeps giving with a wide variety of options.

One of our favourite places to take to kids for dinner. The food is really yummy, lots of space to have the kids play whilst supervised and a great big tv for the footy.

No need for much of a comment. Had to ask for more buffalo sauce for the wings and still couldn’t get through one. Just gross. If you zoom in you can still see the feathers on the chicken. Waste of $75. Don’t eat here.

My partner and I were here for lunch, and we had a pretty mixed experience... He enjoyed his chicken parm enough to rate it a 6/10 but unfortunately I was served the worst caesar salad I've ever had! They forgot the croutons entirely, most of the lettuce was speckled with dirt (with a couple of stems borderline rotten), I had to go hunting to find any parmesan, and the tiny amount of dressing they did add seemed watered down or something because I couldn't really taste it at all. I'd say if you're sticking to the deep fried menu items it's a safe bet, but if you're looking for something lighter then skip the salads entirely! I don't think we would choose to visit here again in future

Lovely staff, unfortunately a few of our orders were missing or not up to standard. Staff were great about sorting these meals out, but we had already waited a considerable amount of time. I thought the outside tables looked lovely, and were closer to playground. We were seated inside and it was quite noisy. Staff get a 5/5 for helpfulness and friendliness.

I've only eaten here (a few times now), so can't comment on accomodation or poker machines etc. Meals are tasty, cooked & presented well, & are expensive, but you do get large portions. There is an attached undercover play area for kiddies too. Good place to meet with small or large groups of friends.

I ordered Salt and Pepper Squid as my main meal plus paid extra for salad. Very disappointed with serving as the meal was smaller than an entree. There was another plate bought out for our group it was 2 and a half times the size of my S/P Squid.

Good atmosphere, yummy food, overall a nice night out. The only disappointment would be the kids cheeseburger which my daughter wouldn’t eat as she said it was spicy. I tasted it myself and it definitely had a decent bite to it, way too spicy for something marketed as “kids” menu! Advice to others… get the kids nuggets instead.

Extremely busy yet they served the kid meal first. Very considerate. Adults were 30mins later. Perfectly fine. Food was ok. Steaks a bit tough. Staff seemed to be coping well in EXTREME child circumstances. Well done Argie Hotel. Will be worse tomorrow you poor things 🤦‍♀️

Couldnt believe the treatment my husband received by the bar staff! Disgusting and rude behaviour! We loved it until the staff acted this way.

Attended on a Friday night. The place is great. Service excellent. Food was nice but the live music started at dinner time and it was so loud that no one could have a conversation. The older people on our table really struggled. It was very disappointing. It was lovely to have live music but please consider the volume. After 8pm is fine to have louder music.

Atmosphere is pretty good, playground is great for kids. Food very disappointing. Understand it was busy, but the burger bun was rock hard and the burger very dry. Adult meals came out awkwardly long apart. Was very loud even sitting in the outdoor area. We won't be going back.

A great family venue, with great outdoor play equipment for the children, and plenty of seating around it so you can let them play while you relax. The venue is large, modern, and well presented. Staff are attentive and helpful, and the meals were great. A good range of options on the menu, slightly costly, however well worth it. Overall an excellent venue, one of the best family restaurants in Newcastle, and we'll keep coming back again.
