We stayed the night on a motorcycle trip and the pub room was excellent, with a big ceiling fan, warm modern heater, huge TV, soft sheets and the friendly and kind service even better. Such considerate care taken to help us with our motorbikes for staying the night. That's exactly the kind of country hospitality that makes travel around Australia a pure joy. Thanks Jamie and staff. Highly recommend!

We stayed and had Dinner at the Australian.
The meals were great value, the pork ribs I had were enormous and tasty.
The staff were very accommodating, couldn't do enough for us including opening up the shed to garage our overnight.
The bathrooms are very tired, however they are apparently being renovated soon.

We ordered the Mexican snitty and Salt & Pepper quid both with chips and veggies. Excellent serving sizes for a reasonable price. Compliments to the chef, best pub meal we have had in a long while

Went in for a beer and meal. Lady serving in red checked shirt gave me the cold shoulder and snobbish attitude. Got worse when I said I was from interstate. She then went to other staff and gossiped about me when I was still looking. I spoke to people around town next day and they said "Yes, they only look after the locals". Won't go back again. Website says 'All welcome, friendly hotel'. Couldn't be further from truth. Needs a complete clear out, starting with the owners/managers.

Very popular with the locals, we just had a couple of drinks before our restaurant down the street. The open fire was a treat on a cold June night..

Very helpful staff, nothing was too hard. Best meal. Had T-bone, this was THE best cooked, tenderest beef. I’ve had. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. All in all a great place.

They put me in an unsanitary room or a door leading to the outside so that no one could enter the room, I don't recommend it! and staff not at all commercial.

Solid pub food, very welcoming for the kids. I had the Italian schnitzel which was very generously portioned. Not a gastropub by any stretch of the imagination but simple, hearty meals served quickly that get the job done. Would definitely go again when in Young.

she made me pay for two rooms because I don't speak French well so she took advantage of it and then she told me in a room that doesn't close and you can hear all the noise outside I think the worst hotel room then it do not want to reimburse in short worst hotel of young you would not see it yourself.

Only reason I gave a one star as I probably only parked at the front of the pub but never went inside but I hear that they do good meals there

One of the best value for dollar pub meals we have had whilst doing the big lap. Great menu and big plates. If in Young I suggest drop in for a feed and a few refreshments.

Lunch. Stopped in for a schnitzel. Probably one of the best schnitzel’s I’ve tasted. Just beautiful. Fresh and perfectly cooked. Will definitely be back.

Love visiting the Aussie when we’re in town. We have a large family and always find room to sit in the beer garden.

I recently ate at the Aussie and hate to complain at all but this is warranted. I have eaten here many times over the past 30 years but my last meal was below average for any counter meal. I ordered a prawn pasta dish. Every prawn had the shell around it. I made no fuss and took it back to the two young girls that were waitressing at the register. I said every prawn has the shell on it still, immediately both girls said that this was normal, with an attitude and impression I was ignorant. On the pubs credit there was six of us that ate and my dish was not right but did taste really good. To the two girls, "prawns are not served with pasta in no circumstance with this dish and also the prawns were boiled not fried." Why? No# 1, choke hazard.

I believe all $$ goes towards pub/restaurant and none towards accommodation. The pub is very nice with helpful staff and the food while not the highest quality the portions were generous and was out quick. The accommodation side not so great rooms are as standard at most pubs, but the shared bathrooms are not really acceptable, the handle for the door was broken and trapped myself inside when I shut the door which I had to do as the shower had glass petitions so anyone using the toilets would be able to see everything, and the taps were broken to point I had to pick them up off floor to turn it on. As quick as I was trying to be the hot water ran out in under 5 minutes so I feel sorry for any groups that want to shower one after other as only first person would get a decent shower.

Generally don't like leaving bad reviews, but I feel the need to as a general public service announcement. If you are not from Young you will not be welcome here heed the warning, terribly unfriendly staff with a mix of rude & clicky locals makes for a woeful experience. You've been warned steer clear at all cost !

Every time we visit Young, we eat at the Australian. We were recently staying near Wombat for 10 days and ate at the Australian 3 times.
Great staff, fast service, delicious big meals.
Can’t wait to come back for crumbed cutlets soon.

Can’t comment on the accommodation, but the food was beautiful, large and great value for money.
Welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff.
Knocked off 1 star because the advertised lamb cutlets were instead lamb chops

After a long 5 hour drive and tireless cherry picking, we were looking for a nice place to dine at and my mum chose this place out of every other. It was nothing exceptional but of expected bistro standard food. Service was good enough and the staff seemed friendly, though we didnt really need help since we ordered through our phones.
I had the deluxe chicken schnitzel with chips, and the rest of us had some variety of steaks and chicken with similar sides. I would have had salad too but there was no option to add additional notes for the order, in which i’d have no dressing on it. Regardless, the food was quite alright, the chips were good, though the schnitzel was very weird. There was something about it that was kind of off putting but i ate it anyways because of how tired i was. It taste different to a usual schnitzel you would order anywhere else and it was also very bland. It was surprising to see no parmi dish here too, such a simple addition would make it all the more worthwhile. The rest of the meals were not too bad, but again, it wasnt anything exceptional. It was priced as any other bistro would be priced as well.
A decent spot, though if i ever do come past Young again, i’d rather try a different restaurant to fancy my tastebuds.
