We’ve been coming here on a regular basis for over four years. Friendly staff and unbeatable pub fair. We compare a large number of other similar establishments to the fish on food quality and price and are yet to find any other venue to have the same value for money but most of all quality. Absolutely ten out ten. Well done team.

Went on a Thursday and got the Steak and Ribs special for $27.90. Meals were good size and well cooked. My medium rare was still pink inside but not bleeding and the ribs fell off the bone. Only negatives were you have to collect your own meals and the venue still needs some work doing. You can tell there has been a fresh lick of paint and new signs but the floor and ceiling are very dated and worn. Always waited quite a while for the kids ice creams and were ready to go home by the time they were ready.

Went here for the first time in 5 years and the place has gone down hill. The food portions were generous, but they were less than desirable, my lemon lime and bitters was from a softdrink bottle, which was sad to see from a "tavern". The service was ok.

We had dinner here as family of 6. It was Monday Rump night and steaks were cooked perfectly to our liking. Staff were amazing and very attentive, especially looking after the kids and their desserts. Thanks we will be back!

We had a table booked for 1pm meals ordered meals in 3 orders at the same time told 30mins wait. First order served on time. Second order had to chase up as they had misplaced or lost asked refund then order rushed and served 50mins from originally ordered. 3rd Order with children's meals took over an hour to come out also had to be chased up. I know it was Mother's day &busy. No apologies no offer of refunds no offer I'm sorry can we offer a complimentary beverage for the inconvenience. 12 people who will not return

This place is about access and convenience, not atmosphere. They do what they do well. The place has the happening vibe in the kitchen, and when i ordered my pizza, I noticed that there were some interesting and adventurous choices on the menu alongside the regular fare.

The food was decent enough. I got the Surf and Turf special and the steak was tender and cooked to my liking. I received mashed potatoes in error instead of the chips that I had ordered which was even more disappointing as it was very obviously a powdered potato mix. I had vegetables instead of salad and the peas and corn had a bizarre taste. Food was prepared very quickly despite the busy period. The style of pub is "serve yourself". No wait staff and the tables aren't prepped with napkins or knives and forks, so you're constantly going back and forth to the counter to get utensils/glasses/napkins and the like. Atmosphere was quite poor. Almost reminded me of dining in at McDonald's. Children running around outside screaming and playing around the tables. Dining area seated right next to the smokers section which wasn't pleasant during dinner. I probably won't eat here again.

The food and atmosphere was great. A relaxed vibe. I thought this work be a great place for a family until I saw the topless waitress in the bar. I have zero issues with topless wait staff but this was in plane view of kids. A door or some kind of separate area from the main dining space would be appropriate

Not bad for a pub feed, good size meal, and certainly can't complain about the prize with the daily specials tonight was Rib 'n' Rump with Salad and Chips for only $27.90. Ribs were tender, falling off the bone and the flavours were well balanced, chips were super seasoned and the salad had lots of dressing. The steak was cooked medium rare, tender only a little grisly but otherwise tasty

Love this pub but please put all the footy on. Went last footy season to watch the Roosters play…. but we left because they said “we only have free to air games”. we would have put over $100 into the bar. Being the only pub around, you would think every NRL game and PPV fight would be advertised to bring the locals in. Just post it on Facebook and we will roll in with beer money in hand.

Love this place. It's a great place to catchup, right off the Bruce Highway. Perfectly in the middle of the Sunshine Coast/Bribie Island/Brisbane for long distance "meet in the middle" lunches. Lovely food and very quick service.

I’m allergic to egg. The staff made me a chicken schnitzel which wasn’t crumbed with egg and it was delicious. They took great care not to ‘contaminate’ my meal with egg, even though they do have eggs in their kitchen. The fact that you can see the kitchen in operation shows a transparency and dedication to good food. Skilled, well trained staff with excellent food handling techniques in a clean kitchen; that’s a winner. Thanks Big Fish Tavern.

I had the Black Angus steak - steak was cold when collected and fatty, the seasonal veggies were just your old style frozen packet of peas and corn, sliced carrots were okay, mash potatoe tasted bland and the mushrooms in the mushroom sauce was non-existent. Overall not good for $40 for a lunch meal. The wife had a large ham amd pineapple pizza- the base was a supermarket bought as you could tell by the underside of it and tasted like flour, the ham was okay and the pineapple was generous. Who puts parmesan cheese on pizza after it has been cooked.Overall very very average at $19. The beer was cold and refreshing. We don't normally put up bad reviews but this was bad bad as we venture out every weekend for a pub meal... Even the staff didn't want to know bout it.... will not be recommending this venue to others...

Heard good things so I thought we’d give it a try! Happy we did. We got a chicken Parmi each. Excellent selection of toppings and the option to have mash and veg was the best! Absolutely loved it. Definitely coming back again. Took home a doggy bag as it was such huge meals. Our dogs loved it too. 💕

Great place to stop and have a bite to eat. A really good range of affordable dishes in a traditional open plan tavern atmosphere. No canned lemonade though. Chivas Regal or Dimple Whiskey would be a good addition to the bar fir those that would like a higher end drop. I really enjoyed the $20 250 gram rump plate. The steak was cooked perfectly. Well done.

First time for my husband and myself - and I am a foodie and I never rate hotels or tavern but the big fish tavern is one of the best I have been to - I had a wagu beef sandwich - one of the best burgers I have tasted in ages and my husband had the rump steak chips and salad and he said the flavour of the steak was the best he has had in a tavern and cooked to perfection and to top it off, we had sticky date pudding, which was one of the best we have tasted in ages with a lovely custard poured over it - the prices are so cheap my husband rump meal with vegetable was only $20 and my wagu burger was $19 but it came with chips - never seen such cheap meals at a tavern or hotel most tavern you pay $35 or more for your steak my husbands steak was 250gs so a good size.🌻😄

Excellent place to eat. Average priced but the meals are delicious and very big. We don’t use the gaming or bar area but it all looked very pretty and busy. Very close to the Bruce highway so u can pop off and back on the Hwy very easily.

Atmosphere is lacking, but please dont let that put you off. Boring can be good when the staff are great and the food is way better than average pub grub. We have been a couple of times in the last month and the food is consistently good.

Always love eating here. Have been back repeatedly over the years and the quality has remained high. The lunch and dinner specials are often worth a good look as well.

A group of us went to The Big Fish for lunch. Food was delicious, prices good. This is right next to the Bruce Highway on Pumicestone Road, so if you are travelling it's a good place to stop for a break and some lunch/dinner. We will be back.
