What a wonderful place to stay! Very friendly staff, willing to assist you with anything you need. Even upgraded my room for me as I was booked in for twin singles but really preferred a queen bed. And this was offered to me straight up whilst checking in.
Very yummy food, room service available, excellent shower pressure, very clean and tidy rooms. Super comfy bed. Free Parking available. Will definitely be staying here again.

Went here for dinner with my family, we all ordered together but our food came out spread over an hour. They came to our table at least once to ask us to substitute something because they had run out. It didn't seem that busy there but they assured us it was. I got a veggie burger and I'd recommend giving it a pass.
The pub itself seems nice on the pub side but the restaurant side is strangely set up and uninviting.

Went for lunch. Not much to choose from on the menu. Not many there at all, though felt as if it was get in and get out, as if the Bistro was full. Very rushed. Not good service. Very disappointing. Not going there again.Also felt like we were at a playground with kids everywhere as they had a play area inside the Bistro.Thought we might of been at Mecca's. Agree with other reviews, the lady serving was quite abrupt and rude.

We had dinner tonight (18/08/23) I had the sirloin steak and my partner had the chicken parigiana. We were both very happy with our meals. I order my steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. I don't remember the last time I have had a steak that was so delicious, compliments to the Chef. My partner was also very happy with her chicken parigiana. Our meals came out very quick and that is always a plus.
The front of house staff and the bar staff were exceptional. The manager and publican should be proud of the team they have.
We will definitely be back!

We found this pub to have lunch on the long weekend.
I'm vegetarian so quite limited in my food choices.
Bernie, the manager of the kitchen, ensured we received the most delicious vegetarian schnitzel and pasta dishes, and ensured there were no hidden nasties in the ingredients!
Thank you for your efforts in making our meals the best vegetarian we've ever had in a pub!

Updated: Went back recently for the first time in 4 years. Food was pretty good. I had the chicken skewers special and they were nice. Wine has improved - proper bottles now - and newish decor.

Very disappointed that this is our local - wine ‘by the glass’ is airplane bottles of very ordinary wine, the food is terrible, and the atmosphere is ‘saddo old man’. We’ve been a couple of times and it wasn’t just a bad night. Cutlet night particularly memorable for awful dried out lamb cutlets that were inedible, and made us decide not to return. It shouldn’t be so hard to get pub grub right!

This is a cool pub in the suburbs of Newcastle, that are fantastic supporters of live music. Great food, excellent service at a relaxed atmosphere. This little joint has it all!

The best steak I have had this year including
last year. We come here every week and it was way above any steak meal in Newcsatle. Value blew me away. Awesome, the best tasting steak. Keep up the great work chefs and staff. Byron Littlewood.

Stayed there just after renovations a few years back and the room was lovely. Also had dinner then and have had lunch there recently, good pub meal

Stayed here with my wife. Rooms were neat and tidy. Bed was comfortable. Didn't get the chance to use the actual hotel restaurant but the service was amazing. A little hard to find but once you get out and on the sidewalk there are signs

Rooms are clean, tidy and comfy.
Staff friendly and accommodating.
Ordered the Rissoles for Dinner and could not fault them. Reasonably priced and order came out in a reasonable time , a few there for dinner and was expecting a longer wait time.
Definitely will be back

Not a fan of this pub, nothing was appealing to explain why the product prices are relevant and there’s no character or attractiveness about this place besides you have parking out the front.

My partner and I went on a holiday to Newcastle late May 2024. And this was our first time staying at this Hotel and I cannot fault it. All the staff in all areas of the business were professional, polite, and punctual. Location is less than a 8 minute drive to Westfield Kotora and 11 minute drive to Newcastle. The staff member that checked us in, unfortunately did not get the name, he was so informative and gave us a great orientation of the Hotel, times, etc. The best service my partner and I have ever received at any hotel/apartment/motel we have ever stayed at. It was absolutely delightful. Planning on booking again very soon.

Karen and Craig excellent hosts when we had to unexpectedly needed to extend stay went above and beyond to accomodate. Will definitely stay here again. Very comfortable.

Hired the function room here for my birthday. I would give 10 stars if I could, they were absolutely amazing. I set with Penelope whilst organising everything, she was absolutely incredible and nothing was a problem. On the day she checked in every now and then making sure everything was ok which was really appreciated. There was a little problem with the music before everyone arrived but all the staff worked tirelessly to fix it for me and found a solution which I was very happy with before people arrived. The food was also amazing, all my guest were very impressed with the food. We had a lot left over and Penny and the team supplied us with take away containers for all the food and extra ones for people to fill up their own little takeaway containers to take home. I was so incredibly impressed with everything and would 100 percent recommend 😊❤️
We also stayed upstairs for the night and the rooms were nice and comfortable And very handy after a night of celebrating.

Had dinner here and the food was big portions the way a classic pub meal should be - parmy was good, good amount of cheese on top and the chicken was large. Felt very full and satisfied afterwards, only $27. Happy with this 👍🏼
Staff were very friendly and accommodating with drinks. Was just passing through and glad we popped in 😁

Great Iconic Pub. Staff friendly kitchen offers great range of good food. All affordable to everyone's budget.
Highly recommend if living in area. I would recommend checking website for nightly specials and events.

Go for breakfast and lunch with friends once a week.
Food is really good and good value, good size serves.
Staff are friendly and efficient .
Would recommend a meal there.

Fantastic place great little pub and good affordable hotel also very handy to the John Hunter Hospital 🏥, Has a newsagent in the premises as well handy bottle shop too

Dining room was noisy
Food was okay,not consistent with portions.

Booked in for one night and the guys at reception were great to deal with, they explained and showed us all we needed to know, convenient parking out the back with easy access via the lift, was very happy with the room for the price and location, quiet and clean room with a very comfortable bed with all the amenities you require for a short stay.
Would be happy to stay again.

Excellent food compliments to the chef
I had the lamb dinner absolutely out of this world
Great prices and friendly staff
But my biggest compliment to Karen for going out of your duties to help us with parking our caravan

Always mainstream nice. Not super exciting, but always consistent nice enjoyable food. A couple more entree choices would b good though.
The staff r always lovely, particularly the restaurant section.
Blackbutts a great hotel in a really good location. Been going there since I was in my 20's. Then for partying 😉😆 n nowdays for a relaxing drink n a meal u know will b very nice.
Definitely recommend.
