We regularly drive from south Melbourne to bentleigh especially for the steak. Today, the chef outdid himself with beef short ribs. The best I have ever eaten. Do yourself a favour and try this out for a casual Saturday lunch. You won’t be disappointed.

Went for lunch today and food was fabulous I had kangaroo it was cooked perfectly glad to see it is on the menu now. As for service even though they were extremely busy Nicholas was great and alerted me to possible wait times for meals which didn’t eventuate. Great experience. Will return

We always enjoy our visit to the Boundary Hotel, particularly for the steak, it’s fantastic and never disappoints …,juicy and full of flavor. Plus, the service is always impressive, especially from Steve, who is incredibly welcoming and attentive. It's a great place for a satisfying meal in a friendly atmosphere and did I mention the steak 😋

To the owner, your food is very average, I would be seeking better produce and addressing chef; I can only speak for what I ordered twice here before. Both time's (benefit of doubt first time) chicken parmigiana have a look at what is being presented to the table - some red cabbage muk tasteless salad thick roar chunks covered in muk.
I worked restaurants, pups - head in kitchens, I wouldn't of had work if present these standards.
That food makes a customer remember never to dine here again.

The staff that were on that day was excellent. Happy, attentive and helpful. The food was OK. I had the grain salad with calamari. The calamari was tender and tasty. The grain salad portion was disappointing. My friends enjoyed their meals, which was more pub food.

The dining experience at this establishment is truly exceptional, characterized by brilliant food, outstanding service, and a vibrant atmosphere. The boundary hotel is incredible, I’ve been here quite a few times and it’s been amazing each time. The steak I had was cooked perfectly and service was really good. Sophie was very nice!!

Staff were welcoming upon arrival. Steve even moved us to be away from the playground and put together tables to accommodate our group. Food was great and so was the service. Will return to this venue.

Recently celebrated a family birthday here and was impressed by the experience! The staff were super friendly and really accommodating - helping us with kids high chairs, refrigerating the birthday cake we brought and helping us with cutlery/plates for the cake! Ordering via the QR code was super simple - food came out quickly and was tasty. Great serving sizes and basic pub food style as you'd expect. My only small small small drama was the amount of dressing on the salad (ordered a chicken parma) was substantial so much so it kind of made the parma and chips soggy as it leaked all over the plate.

Pleasant experience and the zucchini fritters are amazing! We went back there just for that. The chicken baos are great too. We were only interested in small bites so didn’t get to try their mains. Seats weren’t cleaned, filled with oily food crumps which is a bit of a turn off.

My family's go to for a special occasion. Great food, fast service and great play area for kids. Would recommend for family's looking for a nice dinner spot.

I went to the Boundary Hotel with my family last week. I was incredibly impressed by the service. The restaurant manager Jordan was so welcoming, helpful and attentive. It felt like we were in a fancy restaurant in the city! Brilliant to get such exceptional service. The rest of the crew were fab too! Also the food is good and my kids like the play area.

I made a dinner reservation at the Boundry Hotel in Bentleigh in the bistro call the grill house for a Tuesday boys night. Our table was waiting for us but surprised to see there were only maybe five tables in total being used in the Restaurant.
My group were met by the Restaurant manager named Jordan in a friendly way and we proceeded to the counter to order dinner. My mates ordered their meals with Benjamin who was very obliging but when I had to order food I struck major problems with my diet requirements, especially the fact that I cannot eat garlic, onion, including garlic or onion powder in my meals, resulting in a very restricted choice at this hotel. I must admit Jordan went multiple times to the kitchen to check with the chef about the ingredients for me and totally understood my FODMAP allergies BUT it appears pretty much everything I wanted to try included garlic and onion powder such as all the schnitzels Pasta ( even Mac n cheese), lamb shanks and the list goes on and on. I personally was not in the mood to have an expensive steak and did not want to eat fish.
On a suggestion I ended up getting the children’s cheeseburger and fries. Jordan bought out the food to our Table and advised me that my Junior cheeseburger or kids meal actually also had ingredients I could not eat so they were making me a normal burger patty. I must admit I never order burgers for dinner and my meal was underwhelming.
Disappointing dinner on so many levels and while the service From Jordan and Benjamin were excellent the choices on the menu and the restrictions for people who have a FODMAP issue or anything similar is not really great.
I can see why the local RSL is full every night with a kitchen who has a specific gluten-free kitchen and menu offering FODMAP meals but also includes seniors meals.
One of my friends had the barramundi with vegetables, and his comment was the fish had no flavour. My other friend ordered a lamb dish that came with three pieces of Halumi and feta cheese. He also said it was average and actually asked for some more cheese.
We agreed and must shout out the impeccable service from Jordan, the restaurant, manager, and Benjamin but must sadly say that unless the chef and menu has a wider choice to accommodate people with allergies, offers a few more specials or even senior meals, my recommendation would be to stay away from this hotel and bistro.
Better value options are available in the area.

I love the Boundary. Let’s start with the consistency of the food, whether lunch or dinner - decent, honest, economical food. The play area for kids is the best in the biz.
Now, the true gem of the Boundary - the staff. You cannot fault the staff of the Boundary, it doesn’t matter how busy they are. They give 100%, with a smile. They are all genuinely great humans and have all been there for a decent chunk of time.
I can’t summarise it any better than staff member Steve who said “we love the people that come here. It’s the best place to work because of the people”.
To the whole boundary team - hats off for what you do. There is a reason we come back, good food and good people.

I had the garlic flat bread and the eye fillet steak tonight, it was so good. Service was amazing. I had a great time all thanks to nick!!!

Great place for groups particularly those celebrating birthdays with or without young kids as Boundary Hotel has great little indoor play centre for them. Food has to be ordered through their app which I hate particularly when you order items from entrees page and items from mains page and they bring everything out together. Why does every place where I have ordered through app do this? Coffees (soy latte, skinny mocha and flat whites) were good and kids loved their cokes. Kids had cheeseburger and mini steak while adults had fish 'n' chips, steak sandwich and vegetarian tacos. We also ordered dips and bread to share for starters, oops I mean as another main! Note the kids steak was full of gristle and fat and only half of it was edible. Kids had mini choc sundae and black forest cake for dessert. There is plenty of room here, plenty of parking and if you are so inclined plenty of opportunities to lose your money, in their gambling room next door. The Boundary Hotel is an institution and its great that over the years they have modernised their look. 20.2.24 group of us for lunch, majority had either fish n chips, lamb rissoles or calamari from set menu. I'm vegetarian so ordered pumpkin curry off their a la carte menu. Better then thought it would be. We were all given same dessert, vanilla slice, which was OK but spoons didn't cut the through pastry, needed a knife! Lots of coffees (cappuccinos, lattes, flat whites and decaf soy latte).

great local go-to for good food and catch ups with any size group. best to book a table for large groups. service is good and food can be ordered via a QR code or at the counter. i hope the playground gets an upgrade as it is outdated, squashy and dangerous at times. kids will always climb on the playground despite a sign saying otherwise. it can be a nightmare and not ideal for small children under 5 as the bigs kids tend to run around and rough play.

Food is nice, not the cheapest but worth the price. My issue is the surf n turf dish. The prawn skewer is all metal (including the handle) and to my surprise was burning hot. I picked up the skewer to eat it and completely burnt my fingers. Why would you serve a skewer that cannot be held? The very least u could do is give people a warning before serving something that will burn them.

First time I had been here and very impressed. Staff were so friendly and helpful, excellent specials for lunch menu and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend

Far too many screaming kids. I get it's a bistro with a kids playground up one end, but there is nothing to prevent that level of noise from flowing through the entire venue to where the more refined diners sit... conversation was difficult, to say the least. Maybe a screen or partition would help ... anyway, the food is nice enough, nothing special, good pricing, they've removed the complimentary dinner rolls basket from the counter, which is more disappointing than it should be.. staff are friendly but refuse to swap menu listed sides (that I can't eat) for ones I can eat... I can't eat chips, and they won't swap for mash. That said, I eat there regularly and will continue to do so as it's local to a friend I visit.

Excellent family bistro/pub. Wonderful to let the kids run around and the wait staff are always very friendly. Food is good and consistently so. We go here every few weeks and will continue to do so.

Came for dinner tonight and got the chicken keiv, which was awesome! Very recommended. Service was fantastic. Great time for myself and the family. Will be back again to try different dishes. My partner also got Ribeye on the bone and said it was cooked perfectly and tasted just as good.

4 of us came for dinner on 8/7/24 and despite there only being a handful of tables my meal (Cypriot grain salad with prawns) only came 25 min after the other 3 people in our group received theirs (with no apology too!). On top of that I only received 3 prawns! I think 3 prawns for $9 is appalling! I have not been to the Boundary in years and I found the service or rather lack thereof totally unacceptable. I did send an email via their website expressing my feedback the following day but since no one was decent enough to acknowledge or respond I have decided that a google review was necessary.
