What a great restaurant and the variety of the buffet is next level. The service is always great and the wide variety of dinner/lunch selections at the buffet is unreal! You must visit with the fam, great food selection also for kids and they have deserts and ice-cream galore....you must go and see for yourself, 10/10.
Nothing else like this place in Canberra. Keep up the great work.

We were taken by friends for lunch. This is a large club with apparent great facilities. The smorgasbord meal is outstanding value for the price which was evident from the large number of diners in attendance. The quality of food is as good as you'll find anywhere in most Canberra restaurants unless you spend four times as much. If we lived in the ACT we would join.

We often visit burns club for tasty food. Highly recommended for food lovers. Consider going on weekdays because it is cheap. Kids really love this place because of their favourite nuggets, chips, marshmallows, cakes etc..

Went to Sunday lunch today. There is a decent variety but the taste and quality is so lacking. It is over priced for what you get. Much better to go to a regular restaurant and order a variety good quality dishes, especially if you are going as a group. The rest room was the size of a truck stop and had smell and ambiance to match.

Went specifically for the Star Buffet. Excellent service at checkin desk. Not clear that entry to the dining room requires payment prior to entry. Awkward interaction with a less than patient staff member. Seems like you are expected to know how it all operates. No staff on hand to guide those who don't. Managed to select sufficient food to satisfy lunch appetite. Some of the offerings are not clearly signed on how to serve food. Just a sometime option. Buffet lunches seem to suit some people.

Went for my husband birthday, 10 of us. I did not enjoy it at all. Way too many people and the food quality was not good. There was a large table taking tray of duck and pork and putting whole plates on their table. Chinese food was dry. The sushi was nice today. I think I’ll come back for dinner but during the week.

Well it was my first buffet experience and I can safely say it won’t be my last. For $28 you can eat as much as you want. I personally loved the honey chicken and pork buns. The amount of different foods they had was awesome, if not a little overwhelming. I liked the atmosphere here, there was a lot of people but it didn’t feel crowded. I will definitely be coming back when I get the chance.

We don't visit often, but when we do it's usually to the Star Buffet. The kids love the food and it is excellent value for the selection. Adults are charged a fixed price and kids are charged based on age.

We always have an amazing time here. The food is great and buffet is so much fun! So much range at such a reasonable price, and great for the while family. There is for sure something for everyone's tastes, boasting a huge range of different foods, a dessert bar, and even icecream and frozen drink machines. Not to mention the chocolate fountain! They even have a selection of cheeses and crackers. The Burns club is always impressive

Visited club on New years day to see singing Duo as advertised on Burns website. Sadly this duo was not playing and when we asked staff they were unaware. We sat in the fabulous outdoor area on the deck where it was a lovely mix of sun & shade & comfy seating options but all the tables were grubby & not wiped, empty bottles & glasses on some tables. The music that was playing was indoors & sadly could not be heard outdoors. I had a standard cocktail which staff clearly not experienced in making. Such a shame Burns, could be so much more than a buffet attraction.
Overall disappointed as haven't been to club in some time and music, drink & pizza sounded like great

Very disappointed that vegans don't receive a discount on the buffet given the drastically-reduced options available. Sad fruit is the only option for dessert and no alternative milks are available for coffee and tea.
The chef was very helpful in pointing out the options, but most of my group had finished eating by the time I sat down. Even most of the salads had meat or dairy.

Very busy, but the staff were friendly and efficient, so not too much delay (and the club did say to arrive 15 minutes before our booking time, so we sat down pretty much on time). Food was plentiful and the range pretty good - not 5 Star quality, but good nevertheless. Prices were reasonable - too much for a regular visit, but OK for special occasions.

Two words: Star Buffet.
The Burns Club itself has been a mainstay of Southern Canberra entertainment, from live shows to hosting Melbourne Cup and ANZAC day events. It's got all your typical club amenities including Pokies, meat raffle, bar, but the killer feature is the Star Buffet.
The Star Buffet is a relatively new addition to the Burns Club. The buffet style restaurant tends to come into and go out of fashion quite quickly here in Canberra, but the Star Buffet seems to be doing quite well. I did note they no longer have chicken nuggets on the buffet, which is a major disappointment to my son as it was the only thing he eats.
As for the buffet, its clean, restocked often and the drink, Ice-cream and chocolate fountain machines are well maintained.
One big plus is the well stocked sushi train.
Good food, sometimes busy, but always a good night.

This will probably be the only place in Canberra where you can get an all you can eat buffet. There's plenty of food available to taste and the food is of good quality and taste. They'll charge you like 33 dollars per adult and it's worth it. There's unlimited drinks as well but you need to pay extra for it. It might be good idea to call in advance to make a booking especially on the weekends. Though you can seek admission at the entrance, weekends can be really busy and you may not get a seat.

This place provides every variety of food you would wish for. $28per person for such many varieties(stir fry,grilled,salads,sea-food ,soups,desserts)is super worth for. I went with my partner,he loved and enjoyed it more. If you are a healthy eating person,they have many varieties of salads too.. A suitable place where you would like to revisit on every occasion. Just make sure you are super hungry when you go there if you want to enjoy as much as you want. We did a booking before we went but they might take walkins too.♡♡

This is hands down, by far the best all you can eat buffet my family and I have ever eaten! It cost four of us $79. The selection was really good, and everything tasted amazing. The kids went back several times and didn't end up eating dinner! There were roasts, Asian cuisine, sushi, salads, desserts and lots of meats. Oh my goodness everything was perfect. Definitely got our money's worth. Staff were kind and welcoming. Atmosphere was good, not too busy for lunch on a Wednesday. Will come back next time we are in Canberra.

This is a great place to visit, the best food in Canberra, the menue is perfect, all the staff are friendly and caring, the service is second to none, the prices are very fair and reasonable. I visited there on monday 16.01. 2023, i am from Townsvill and i was in town and i think if your in Canberra you have to visit the Burns Club and you will have the best time.

This is a great place to catch up a few mates for Friday Arvo 🍺🍺. If you want to play darts, snooker or billards then you can do that or a coffee before dinner.

This all you can eat restaurant is perfect for a nice lunch or dinner. However, there is always the same type of food for dinner, and that is the same for lunch. I would like it if they changed the menu around a bit. I find it a bit annoying that the under 12's have to be with an adult while they are getting food. I would rather stay seated and eat my meal while it is warm instead of walking around everywhere. I accept that the really young kids need an adult with them, but a 9 year old and older should be able to go on their own. And, the dress code is quite strict. And you need a club membership to go through. But otherwise! I love this restaurant!

The Star Buffet here on a weekday is pretty great value. We brought the kids and everyone found plenty of food choices they loved. Tons of choices and the food seems to be good quality. Buffets can sometimes be a bit sketchy when it comes to hygiene, but everything seemed very clean and sanitary here, even though the place was packed.

The staff are a little quiet but they're all friendly and efficient.
Overall the food was good, I took a few things off my plate because they weren't cooked well. I dont really expect more from an all you can eat buffet.
One thing to note is that the wall between the mens/womens bathroom is paper thin!

The main reason for joining and visiting this club is for the Star buffet.
I haven't visited every buffet in town, but of those I have, this is by far the best value buffet in town. All you can eat for about the same as the cost of a main meal at a restaurant.

The food was simply marvelous, but the staff made a big issue about letting us in. On a 40 degree day we weren't allowed in because of a sleeveless shirt. Apparently my shoulders are super offensive 😂 took about 20 minutes of negotiating with management to be allowed in, service is a joke and the policy is even worse and riddled with double standards. Would go back and give them one more try. Dont go if sexism bothers you 😂

The food was good, all you can eat. Nice roast meat, really like the Chinese dishes and desert fantastic, pour hot molten chocolate all over from the chocolate fountain.

The food was amazing! It’s not gourmet or anything like that, but for the price, it offers such a variety of food and they don’t taste bad at all.
There’s plenty of food, vegetables, fruits, and desserts for all sorts of stomachs out there.
If you have friends who elate at the sight of a plethora of food, take ‘‘em there.

The burns Club Star buffet is one of the best buffets my family and I have enjoyed. The food was fresh, hot, and ample. I was stunned by the variety of choices and the quality of the cooking. It was well worth every cent we paid. I have paid three times as much for less. The service was friendly and quick. The atmosphere was quisessential Aussie club. It remains our go-to value for money for top quality food place.

The Burns Club is a popular restaurant, it's definitely not fine dining but for all you can eat for under $30 there is a big range to select from and it is nicely cooked and presented. Drinks extra. You do need to be a member or a guest of a member.

The burns club is a great club with a large pokie area nice bar and sports area, the star buffet all you can eat is awesome it has all sorts of different food so no matter your taste you will definitely find delicious food for you here, there is new fresh food constantly topping the trays up so you will always have plenty to choose from, there is plenty of friendly staff so you dont find yourself looking around for someone if you need anything there is always someone close by, definitely recommend.

The buffet is very well priced, especially for lunch Monday till Friday. A lot of food options are available, but most of them are Asian cuisine. The dessert options are quite good as well. A very good place for value for money.

The best Darts, Snooker facilities I've seen anywhere in Canberra for years. The bistro has very large quality meals at affordable prices. Staff are friendly and drinks are reasonably priced.

The 3 scooners of Asahi beer we got had not head what so ever. Worst glasses ever. Properly using them for coke and other rubbish or just not cleaning them. As for the pokies, forget it, their the worst in Canberra. If I could give less than one star I would.

Star Buffet at the Burns Club. Food is plentiful but one of the beef dishes the meat was full of grizzle. The wood fired pizza was very medioca ( dominos pepperoni is much better). The pork was also not worth the effort of chewing. On the upside, the range and quality of desserts was outstanding.

So. My mum has severe allergies and intolerances she cannot eat out at all. We had a table of 18 people. And they wanted to charge her $30 to sit there. As if that wasn't enough the manager came over and challenges mum's allergies!!! Like she has any idea. She made mum so embarrassed. It was so bad. They agreed "to let mum in this time but mum must pay next time"

Some food offerings were better than others. Overall it was a good experience but the crammed dining made it feel like a food court. Worth going back if you're hungry and don't mind the hustle and bustle of truckloads of people.

Service is very good and also the asian and roast food, however there is much food there that is too acidic, too bland or too overcooked - we've learned to stay away from those dishes as they've not improved in multiple visits. For the price and the range of food available and the service though, still worth 4 stars. The wine served is really good.

Second visit, first a month ago. Quite the hidden gem in Canberra. Ever since the first visit I've been hearing Robbie's bagpipes calling me back.
The buffet has a great seldction of food - chinese food, beef, lamb, seafood, salads, pizza, you name it.
And best of all, the dessert!!!

Racist receptionist! Racist!
Today is 12 April. We were going to eat buffet inside club. But we were refused to get in burns club because we are Chinese. Racial discrimination is not acceptable, and people who keep us out are racist as well. I am a club member, but not allowed to get in to club because I am Chinese. Ridiculous!
We used to eat here time to time. But what happened today is indeed disappointed. I will post videos about what happened today and what racial discrimination words the female receptionist told us later!

Policy not available about entry with people that aren’t underage, tried to get in with my siblings (18, 21) for dinner and was not allowed entry because of the age of myself and sister (16, 11) must have someone 25+ drove over 40 minutes, unimpressed. Should be ALOT more public.

Over priced food
The all you can eat food is below average, it's not kept at correct temperatures anything with meat in it is obviously the cheapest cuts, It's fatty and grisly. The spring rolls are just cabbage and almost empty, the yum cha is yuck cha, the 'sushi' is not good, the salads are basic and the prawns are not fresh and if you want to eat with uncontrolled little kids running around squealing and putting their fingers in the food this is the place for you.
All the portions are tiny in the dinner food the dessert cup cakes smaller than a 10c piece and other dessert portions are tiny. You could fill up on a much better meal for the same price almost anywhere else.

On arrival I was first unimpressed to see the large signs on the closest and undercover car spaces. They said DIRECTOR, CEO ect.. I thought what a poor display of self centered, over the top self importance we have here. Simple disabled signs (or something similar) instead would change this initial vibe. My second negative thought on this place was watching the asian group in front of us being refused entry as one of the female students only had a student ID. She was clearly of age like the five people in our group, however they still wanted ID from us to scan into their computer ( a dodgy practice when a non government department does this.) If I were there by myself I would have turned around there and then.
I must say that the inside staff from the buffet staff to the fantastic ladies collecting our dirty plates were AMAZING, POLITE and a true asset to this business. It was a shame the initial walk in was not so good.

Not the cheapest meal experience but real value for money, especially if you have hungry teen-agers.
The food on offer was a huge variety from Asian, Italian, good old roasts, an extensive and exciting array of desserts - even a chocolate fountain, bottomless drinks. Great fun discovering and taste testing everything. Everything was freshly cooked and topped up continuously.
Don't go there if you're not hungry - but if you are it's a gourmet delight.

Not sure how they break even with their pricing, but hey I'm not complaining! Glad to have the buffet back post COVID, and the desserts alone make it worthwhile. Of course quality isn't on the high end but neither are the prices. The Asian stuff and pizza is pretty good. Great for kids and the novelty factor of like 80 dishes on the menu. Just need to be disciplined and go in with a strategic eating plan!

Nothing I ate tonight would I consider great restaurant food. But this is a buffet and its about variety not quality. I went on a Wednesday night for my childs birthday dinner. The resturant was busy, the staff were working hard keeping the food filled up and clearing the empty plates. There was a great variety of foods on offer which my kids enjoyed. If you are after a buffet experience in Canberra with the family this would be a great option. If you want high quality delicious food I would look elsewhere.

My favorite venue to watch sport and play snooker. There are tournaments on Tue nights so plan ahead if you want to play snooker. You could still shoot some pool on $2 tables. Has a bar and hall filled of TV with different sports playing. Food is great. This place has the Star buffet if you feel like one. Very close to the Kambah shops and resto. Nice place overall. You need membership and people with you need ID proof.

Love coming here but this time 30/11/19 we arrived at 530pm (most arrived at 6 to 6:30) and got a table for 19 people the girl that took our money told us we would have to leave by 730pm when l ask why and said jokingly what, do you have 2 sittings now she replied yes the next starts at 800.you all will need to leave by 730. Thinking this made no sense as people arrive and leave at all times we did not leave as most of us were members. The other unusual thing was most of us were so thirsty it was ridiculous. We think someone had an accident adding to much msg in the food? Maybe wrong but don’t think so as l have mild reactions to this additive. It has never happened before. Hopefully next time we come our experience will be better and l can up the stars

Judging by many of the patrons it seems like that's what they're there for, but if you're not keen of stuffing your face like the parents from Spirited Away, then this place is not for you.

Kids!!!!! Unsupervised kids. One charming 10 year old(ish) filled her plate with chips, walked around the adjacent servery and then once decided that she piled her plate too high with chips, flicked them off her plate and back to their warming tray. This is just the tip of the iceberg, family bistro sure, but the management of the Burns Club need to enforce their Adult Supervision policy. Tue 13 Nov 18 was a disgrace to hygienic food service.

I went out with friends and upon arrival for the all you can eat, I asked if there were vegan options and I was told to ask one of the waiters to get the chef who can show me what is and isn't. This I did and the chef went above and beyond, asking if I wanted some of the roast veggies cooked without butter, also because there was no dessert options he came out and gave me a piece of vegan cake. To those vegans who are unsure, I had at least two plates worth of food so there is definitely options :) amazing service!!!

I was expecting a bit more of a Scottish feel, it's just like any other club really. It'd be great to have Scottish food on the menu and Scottish beer on tap and even some focus on Scottish sports teams. Buffet had a great variety of food but the food wasn't that hot or of quality.

I used to work here when I was in my late teens, and had been here dozens of times over the years for beers and snooker before the renovations.
They destroyed the soul of this club by slapping a low quality mass serving buffet in the middle of it. I've only ever been back when someone drags me to the buffet. They seem to have thrown away the heart of this "Scottish" club, with little to no attempt to keep any of the clubs history.

Im sure u already know about this but if u don't, be sure to visit star buffet. All u can eat buffet filled with meat, veges, seafood, desserts and much more for a bargain of a price. Weekday lunches are cheapest at $16.70 while dinner and weekend lunches are $24.94 pp. Children below 12 are charged around $1.20 times their age. They also got a drinks bar, pool tables, lounging area with a big screen and betting spots.

But, no, they are not the same thing to review.
Think of it like reviewing the petrol station rather than the fast food restaurant found INSIDE the petrol station, not the same thing at all.

I know the place is not for everyone but if you are look for a good night's rest with an exploding stomach to put you in a food coma then come down to the burns im big on the Asian side of things when it comes to food but everything else is great I personally am not a picky eater so everything went down well I have been many times in the past and will continue to come for the great selection I always sleep early that night and never had any issues thinking about the ribs has got me hungry again I would recommend worth the price if you have a big stomach like I do

I first discovered rated the Burns club during a Christmas party with some colleagues and have been there about 4 times ever since. It’s a great place to go with a bunch of friends. The buffet spread is decent for the price. I have always thoroughly enjoyed the place and would continue going there.

I drive all the way from yass just for the buffet! So much cheaper and less busy at lunch time. At dinner it's hectic and loud. The food gets refreshed pretty often and I've only ever had a couple of things that were cold and meant to be hot. Mostly Asian based food but there's still lots of other options. Needs more choice of salad and healthy food though

Hold your breath if you go into the toilets the smell is that bad it makes you sick.. beer is ok, the smoking areas are small after the new reworks and have no heating or fans now. They need a woodfired pizza oven instead of the electric one that only cooks the top of there pizzas. But they do show UFC that's a plus.

Good to have it back open..advice is not to go on a Saturday night when it first opens. The line up to pay is very long.. then around 7.30 is another wave but second wave quicker.. in saying that the wait is worth it. So many choices and the food is just awesome. And want to say a huge thank you to the young ones looking after the dirty plates. You all do a wonderful job and we would not be able to have this buffet if it wasn't for you all x

Food on a Saturday night and weekday lunch are the same. No difference.
I enjoy eating here because the food is always freshly cooked and quickly restocked when it's low. Duck, fresh sushi, yum cha varieties, char sui, asian sausage, Barramundi wings, Portuguese tarts are my favourites. If you go on a Saturday night go early otherwise you'll be waiting in a line that's out the door.

Fairly typical all you can eat buffet dinner place. They had additional seafood options but nothing fancy. They gave the impression that they had proper sushi in the Japanese section but it was fake crab or tinned tuna instead.
I have a bit of an unfair negative bias against these places due to the massive amount of wastage involved in having the variety and quantity of food that they do. Service was good and the range of options was also pretty good though. Nothing was bad but nothing was great either.

Enormous queue to get in. Buffet food is basically sub street food grade Chinese and Japanese, with some carvery staples. Including drinks, expect to spend at least $100 for an adult couple, and you'll have had much better value and quality going to your local Chinese.

Discrimination against a pregnant mum to be at BURNS CLUB KAMBAH - STAR BUFFET!
We attended the Burns Club in Kambah last night (13/10/2015) with a group of friends for dinner. I told the cashier lady as I am currently 6 months pregnant we would be paying only for my husband as I would not be eating from the buffet. But would like to order from a bistro. The cashier lady informed me there was no bistro and I had to either pay for the both of us to go into the buffet restaurant or just pay for my husband and I would have to wait outside for him to finish dinner. She said there is no exception even to pregnant ladies, and to either pay up now or leave the club immediately. I have never felt so humiliated, upset and discriminated in my life. I asked for the manager who came and told me the exact same thing and treated me like a criminal. All I wanted to do was go and sit with friends while they had dinner, I had no intention of eating anything form their buffet. The manager raised his voice while he was talking to us, I was so upset and other guests were all looking at us. In the end the manager said pay up or leave, I said that's fine but I'm writing to the Canberra Times about this and how you have discriminated against a pregnant lady who never did anything wrong. He changed his tune, asked if it was just the two of us for dinner and I said no a large group of friends. He said I will make one exception just this once and never ever again and that he would watch me like a hawk all night to make I di not eat or drink in the buffet. And if I was seen to be eating would have to pay or be asked to leave immediately.

Did the bistro's Christmas buffet. Offerings were a step up from the regular buffet (not that normal buffet is a lessor quality - it just doesn't include all you can eat lobster, morten bay bugs crabs and other items of that cost) Food was abundant and varied - and staff friendly and attentive. Well worth the cost.
The normal buffet is only $20 and doesn't disappoint

Came here for the Star Buffet with a dozen coworkers and two of their kids. Was quite enjoyable, lots of food and good value, $30 for food and you can go back to the serving bars as much as you like, lovely wide range of food. Meats, salads, pizzas, pastas, Chinese, Indian, a sushi train and more plus desserts and fairy floss. For an extra $4.50 you get a cup and straw for soft drink that you can fill up as many times as you like. My only disappointment was that they had coke zero, not diet coke which I personally prefer, but ah well.

Buffet lunch is good value if you can eat a lot. Food is fairly low quality but there is a lot of variety available. It's annoying that everyone in the ACT has to be a member or escorted by a member to get in, even if you live over 25 km away!

Asian type buffet, all you can eat. Plenty of and great array of food. Clean, tidy, and used plates and utensils removed very quickly so you can go back for 2nds with clean plates and clean cutlery.
