Canberra Bowling Club

We had our Christmas party for work here, the staff were friendly and very helpful. You will need to organise your own catering. The bowling green was well kept and some members were on hand to provide some pointers on lawn bowls. An excellent experience and a nice little club, would recommend.

We had a Christmas do here, BBQ for around 70 people. The food was very average small and expensive for what it was. Would not go again.

Was great to play again after 5 years of absence. Players are very welcoming. I joined the club today.

Visit every year for a Cancer fundraiser!!! They never disappoint! The staff are helpful, friendly and put on a great feed for everyone!!! Highly recommend for any function you have!!!

Very nice small bowling club. They have 2 synthetic greens, which are a pleasure to play on. The club itself has had a number of renovations but still has that old charm feeling.

Synthetic turf and nice facilities, i would argue that the beerswere a couple of dollars dearer than what i was expecting, but makes for a nice venue

Sophie is the loveliest in the world, we had an awesome time for our work Christmas party, she even bought out a speaker for us to play music! Fantastic venue, we will be back 😀

Our Probus Club has just had its annual lunch there. Golden Roast did the catering (Faith and Daniel) and Sophie (CBC) did bar. She circulated too, ensuring our older members were cared for. The venue has a nice aspect over bowling treens. Everything good, so recommend withou hesitation.,

Note to Licensee: The brunette bartender called Sophie should not be working at a bar. Her vibe EVERY time I’ve been there is “I just want to go home”. She is absolutely miserable doing that job and has a horrible attitude towards customers. On the best days she’s completely bored and fake with her service, on the worst she’s obnoxious and snarky. Either way you should give the job to someone who actually cares about your business. My observation after 20+ visits.

I organised my work Christmas party here for 35 people. In the lead up to the day, Sophie was great with organising everything. On the day however, I have never experienced such poor customer service from someone. She was extremely rude to all of my colleagues and myself. When she was behind the bar serving guests she was even worse. I had multiple colleagues come up to me and say how poor their experience was with her and how they will never go back here solely because of her.

Had our work Xmas party here and the staff were AMAZING! So friendly and accommodating 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 I will definitely be back and bringing friends for a day of bowls and drinkies 😁

Had a great time. Staff member was pleasant. They had bare foot bowlers in the afternoon who were happy to include us in their games.

Great greens Pleasure to play on but the female bar attendant was a little rough and a little up front and rude and not very pleasant to her patrons. Put all our teams and another lady off going back in.

DO NOT BOOK an event here! Work Xmas party for 45 people. We only dealt with Sophie and her customer service is beyond horrible. Or first experience was arriving early to set up and actually being yelled at by her to get off the premises, we not allowed to be there before or booked time. When I finally was allowed in she had it paperwork where where very firmly pointed out the line where it said please do not arrive before your time. Not an issue but absolutely not acceptable for her to tell at us, including the person that was about to put $3000 over their bar. She was extremely rude to my guests and staff. We were not made to feel welcome at all. She constantly told me how busy she was and how she didn't have time for us because she had to set up for over 100 people with other events booked that day. It was an extremely hot day and we had to ask if we could have a marquee as our table were on concrete in full sun. This was done but the request obviously made her more cranky. The caterer we used, who had been to the venue many times, came to tell me that they had witnessed sophie being extremely rude to my guests when telling them they could not sit at tables inside due to eat their meals as they were for other events. Even the booking process was awful. Very unorganized, could never contact her as she was busy looking after other events. In an email she even said..as I have said before! She explaining the rules of the bowling Green and was very stern when saying I will not hesitate shutting your event down if you break any rule. There was nothing about her that was nice, friendly, professional, caring about our experience, or polite! If they were understaffed, not our problem. There is no excuse to treat people in such an unfriendly unwelcoming way, be rude, sour faced the entire time, yell at and berate my guests. Absolutely disgusting level of customer service. If I could score lower than 1 star I would.

Brilliant staff Christmas party here December 2023. Our host Sophie was brilliant; excellent communication start to finish and she looked after us so well on the day. This place is a hidden gem and I hope they hold out for as long as possible tucked in all this prime real estate!

A dedicated and independent self-funding lawn bowling club with two artificial greens and very welcoming to visitors for social and bowling activities. Has Thursday trivia nights and Sunday afternoon live music. Very popular for barefoot bowling parties.

A big thank you to the bowlers for putting on a lovely spread for the Canberra RANCBA. They really looked after us.

1st time bowler, really enjoyed it, very nice location. Beautiful day!
