Castellos Foresters Arms Hotel

Went here for dinner last night with a few friends. I am vegetarian and my daughter is gluten free, so when we went to order I had a few questions. The person who took the orders had no idea about any of the food. I asked what the 'vegetarian schnitzel burger' was actually made of. He said he thought it was vegetables, but wasn't sure. I asked to speak to the chef, who then proceeded to try and have a conversation with me from the back of the kitchen. I stated that I couldn't hear her so she got someone else to come and talk to me, who was very helpful and showed me the ingredients of the burger. I then ordered the vegetarian tacos, and he said "theyre not vegetarian they have meat in them", and I said that they were called "vegetarian tacos" and he said "oh". I then asked if there were any gluten free options such as pasta, or burger buns, and he said that all the pasta was gluten free. This is unusual so we asked him to check with the chef, and he came back and said that actually no the pasta isn't gluten free, except for the chicken scallopini which has gluten free pasta. I looked on the menu and said to him that that dish doesn't have pasta, and he said yes it does, and I read out the ingredients to him, which had no pasta, and he said "oh". I was very surprised that the person taking orders had absolutely no idea about any of the food on the menu! Such a difficult process to order our meals! 100% will never be going back here again!

Went for Valentine’s Day dinner celebrating at the place we had our first date 48 years ago. Went with some trepidation after reading reviews but any fears were soon allayed by the friendliness of staff and the high quality of our (seniors’) pub meals. Consequently we stayed much longer than we expected. A most enjoyable evening.

Went for lunch. Food is very good Seniors meals, $12.00 We enjoyed all the meals we had. Lovely clean interior good area for watching sport. Has pokies as well. Drive through bottle shop Staff very helpful.

We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon celebration for my dad's 90th birthday in the private room at Forester's Arms over the weekend. I could not speak highly enough of the attention to detail, communication and professionalism prior to the event and particularly on the day by Logan and the team. Logan went over and above to ensure our day was very special. Everything including balloons were already set up for us on arrival. Food was plentiful and great. Logan, thank you so much - you are awesome !!!

This venue used to have a great atmosphere before it was renovated. It had a relaxing beer garden where you could play Keno and watch footy, lovely wooden seating and tables, and a pub menu that was varied and you knew was quality. Now the menu is over priced, with few options that are worth ordering and there's no beer garden to sit in and relax with a beer. If you want to sit with a beer and watch a game, you'll be sitting inside with those who want a meal. There's an entrance to the men's toilet in the gaming room that stinks of urine. This smell does not go away, added to this is the overpowering smell of air freshener, it's absolutely sickening. The staff are also not knowledgeable and inconsistent with their information.... Where's the training? I have asked three different staff members the same question, and received three different answers! This includes management. The staff have absolutely no clue about what the venue's membership offers, ask some of the young guys a question and they act like a deer in headlights.

The interior was beautiful! Very modern and sleek inside, although the atmosphere was a bit of a let down. For a Sunday lunch, I expected more of an atmosphere, for it to be busy and bustling, but it was super quiet. I had a small group of friends to celebrate my birthday, and it was average to say the least. I ordered the roast lamb, and it was a little chewy and not warm. My partner ordered the steak, and the steak was a generous serving, but the chips on the other hand was not. It almost looked like they counted out the chips. The menu was pretty limited and pricey to say the least. I wished all the food came out at one time, but it didn't, which left awkward gaps in between our meals. Not sure I'd return again, overall, a pretty average experience.

The food was poorly cooked, service staff clearly undertrained, and if you have any allergies or intolerances, I'd recommend looking elsewhere with more options (and more staff who know about the dietary options). First and foremost... the chicken parmigiana was lovely, until I got to the middle of it and it was raw. It actually looked as if they'd slapped on breadcrumbs and warmed it up, rather than actually cooking through. Thankfully we got a refund which was much appreciated. Someone else at our table received a flat, very overcooked steak which really wasn't worth $45 nor was close to the 300g it was advertised to be. The only food I'd recommend are the wedges, chips, and vegetarian tacos. The service here was interesting. Bar staff were perfectly friendly, but ordering at the kitchen was an experience. As two people with dietaries we struggled to get answers regarding what certain dishes contained, to ensure we wouldn't have any cross contamination and reactions; this included finding out what the 'vegetable schnitzel' was actually made from. Unfortunately, whilst he was trying to help us, the person serving us at the kitchen counter knew almost nothing about the food on the menu. After speaking with the chef who said that the 'Chicken Scallopine' was gluten free, the server came back and said that all of the pasta was gluten free. After reading out what the chicken scallopine contains he said he thought it was pasta but obviously not, and had to double check to find that the pasta was not gluten free. Overall, the food and drinks at this restaurant are overpriced, service staff have clearly not been trained properly to handle different scenarios that their jobs require, and I'd never recommend the food. I wouldn't recommend this place any time soon.

Staff were openly dropping plates, throwing trays and laughing about it. Food was also not great although I thoroughly enjoyed the arancini. Don’t come here for a meal. But a good place to grab a quick drink and watch the footy

Pretty good place for a meal with friends/family and for a bit of a drink to watch some sport. (Noticed they play AFL and Basketball on my visit which is great). The staff are really friendly and after reading some bad reviews for the staff being nasty or having no customer service ability I would have to say that either those people don't work there anymore or they have stepped up their game because the people we have spoken to here are nothing but nice. What we ordered - ______________________________ Classic Parma (Chips + Salad) : This is a good ol' classic chicken parmy, quite big which is always a good thing and it's pretty well done, chips are always good at this place and the salad is ok, does it's job but could be a little bigger(salad), though i doubt many will care for it as the size of the portion is more than enough to satisfy even the biggest eaters. Give the Parma 8.5/10 ______________________________ Bruschetta w/ Feta: We ordered 2 of these 1 without the Feta as i personally was unsure about it, taking away from the dish, but I have to say that the addition of Feta on top actually works really well and I kicked myself that I didn't order them both with the feta. Probably our favorite dish of the night and probably the best bruschetta we've had from eating out anywhere, easy to eat, not to acidic or overly powerful with feta/onion, we felt it was pretty much spot on. Give the Bruschetta 10/10 ______________________________ Soft Spicy Chicken Tacos: We were looking around for pictures of this to see if we thought we might like it just from pictures but couldn't find any proper pictures to be able to judge, we were a bit hesitant to even buy it because of the price tag and thinking they are probably going to be small and come with no sides. Because of this we decided to order it with our starters assuming it was going to be small. Boy were we wrong, These probably are the biggest tacos I've seen, very very generous serve and we were happily surprised, No sides and luckily not because they are not needed with these bad boys. The taste is pretty great, like almost perfect, the spice is great it's not too over the top but the spice is 100% there and you WILL taste it, if you are not so great with spice i would steer clear, or maybe ask for less? I'm sure they will cater to you because the taste of the entire dish is worth it. Probably our 2nd favorite dish of the night. Give the Spicy Tacos 9/10 ______________________________ Scotch Fillet Steak w/ Blue Cheese Sauce & Chipotle Sauce on the side : The steak was good, it wasn't great but that's just me personally others might absolutely love it, it wasn't a bad steak, it was above average but I feel like it tasted more like a T-Bone steak off the bone over a scotch fillet, it was quite thin for it to be a proper scotch fillet ones i usually cook are pretty thick not sure it was 300G. Sauces were alright. Give the steak a 6/10 ______________________________ The Staff and Manager again are really nice, we came with our 7month old baby and they were considerate enough to pull a chair out of our table before we were there so we had room for a pram or if we needed/wanted a baby chair, that's first class service to think about that without us even asking for it. Overall 4/5 for these guys, It's a good place to go for food or a drink the only thing I think would be better if there were a wall dividing the drinking/pool area as we all know we can get a bit loud when with mates having a drink and/or playing a game of pool watching the game etc, but again it's something you can live with for the most part. Loved the food there, would recommend going here and from what I can tell they have a designated night for Cheap Parma+Chips for like $6 or something which is an awesome price. Will definitely be back again.

My wife and I had another lunch on Friday June16 and it was just as good as last time. It's now on our regular list of good food venues presented well by friendly staff My wife and I had lunch on Friday, May 19 and it was quite an eye opener. Not having been there for several years we were both delighted with the transformation of the interior and then, the food! Excellent - well presented and hot - and a delight to eat. The service, both at the bar and the dining room, was cheerful and very professionally served. I do recommend the Foresters Arms for anyone who wants value for their dollar. We'll be back for sure.

My girlfriend and I visited Castellos where Logan was managing. The food and service were excellent; it is a very comfortable place for dinner.

My client had fish and chips and said the fish was really nice. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Will be going back next week.

I took my mum to Castellos Foresters Arms Hotel for lunch on sunday 19/5/24. I ordered a chicken schnitzel with chips and salad. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The schnitzel was beautifully crumbed and crisp on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. The chips were superb and the salad was delicious with a yummy dressing. 10/10 Mum ordered a chicken ceaser salad which she thoroughly enjoyed thats castellos forsesters arms hotel :)

I like Forresters but 1 thing annoys me, I organise a yearly get together of about 30 people and book out a room for the gathering. They charge me $200 to hire the room even tho the people I am bringing in to their hotel are ordering meals and drinks etc. Most other Hotels give you back your deposit once the gathering takes place but the Forresters dont, might have to go somewhere else next year!

Hi Well every time I come Thursday night for steak night 5 star, staff fantastic very happy and friendly I recommend this pub and restaurant with out a problem. Even my family and friends want to come as l find it the best pub in town 😁 Thanks a lot keep up the good work I will always be happy to recommend this place no worries Richard

Here for Sunday dinner. Just made it for happy hour 😄. We've been here a few times. Place was empty except for 2 droning drunks. A manager, I presume, with green hair stuck us next to these two. When I asked to be moved, we were stuck next to the toilets (everything else booked ?) Food (linguine, roast lamb, seafood stew) all well received. Staff very good. The experience of coming up against this man means we won't be back. Pity, but there better places locally. Try the Clayton Hotel on a Sunday night

Had lunch with 4 friiends. The food was delicious and the service great. Highly recommended.

From all accounts the family enjoyed the burgers they had. The steak was probably one of the worst I've had in recent memory and not worth the $44 and pretty sure not 300g. As much as the menu bragged marbling, it was thin and poorly cooked. Garlic butter was a few frozen cubes and a small lame salad to accompany. The chips were delicious. Atmosphere of typical pokies joint that has no seperation from the eating area, so not that kid friendly. Beer was fresh and delicious. So great place to watch the game as the snacks menu looks awesome, maybe just avoid the steaks.

First time visit!! Nice venue.. Dining area, there were plenty of empty tables.. Wanted to sit in a bigger table, was told no. Sure, we were 2 people.. But as l said, plenty of tables.!!! Also not very helpful.... Went to the coffee station.. The waiter there was very pleasant & helpful.. He had blue hair👌.... Food, 👍red velvet cake, coffee👍

Cheap chicken Parma's on Tuesday. Huuuuge parmas, well worth the price. Need to buy any drink to qualify

Casual dinning venue with bar and pokie machines, located close to Chadstone shopping centre. Staff are helpful and their is a function room available for large groups. I have noticed that the senior meal has shrunk considerably over the last few years- I might have eaten Melbourne's smallest Parma. Even accompanying salad was only a few leaves

Barramundi was cooked to perfection very rare for a pub or restaurant for that matter All other meals also met approval. Great service bar andvtable

As l walked in l thought it felt warm and friendly and relaxed. As it being FATHERS DAY l thought it would be packed but we got a table easily enough mind you it was only 12-15pm but by the time we were leaving it was really starting to fill up. My hubby daughter enjoyed their meals and l enjoyed mine although I didn't really have a meal per say (bowl of wedges, sweet chilli sce and sour cream but even that was nice. Will certainly be going back soon.

Always looking to take your money off you somehow so they can line there pockets.

A group of us hired the function room at Castellos Foresters Arms Hotel. I ordered the chicken parma with peppercorn sauce, which was tasty. Thank you for the delicious food and great service.

A gem in the suburbs. Great menu and always a good variety of weekly specials. We've tried most of the menu and are yet to be disappointed. Recent addition of sharing platters are great for 2-3 people.

3 of us go monthly for dinner on a weeknight. Food is consistently good, service is friendly and efficient. Atmosphere is quiet, which is great for talking. 10% seniors' discount is nice. Easy parking.
