We went for lunch. Nice food, beautiful building and such a cute beer garden out the back. The staff are really kind too.

Unfortunately worst steak in years, just unlucky Fortunately it wasn't one of the $140 cattlemans cuts.

The check in process was easy, bar and diner staff were friendly. Off street secure parking. The rooms are very very basic and have not been updated - ever. The rooms are suitable for blokes away on business or passing through, not family or kids. At $98 a night I did expect a bit more. This is more like a $50 stay.

The Castlereagh Hotel is easy to find and has a range of parking for short- and long-term guests and entry into the venue is easy to find (either from Brisbane Street or Talbragar Street). Upon arrival to the hotel, my room was available and the young girl serving me was polite and efficient. She briefly explained my room and gave me a sheet of paper with details about the hotel. I stayed in Room 11 which required an ascent of stairs (there is no elevator). The room itself was average, which was expected for $69. The King Single had one pillow and was comfortable. The headboard was not fastened to anything and banged against the wall whenever moving on the mattress. The room had a medium television, a small bar fridge, a wardrobe, and an array of amenities (coffee, tea etc.). The room was quite dated and would do with an upgrade. It would also be ideal if cleaning was done more rigorously as I found lolly wrappers behind the bed, the toilet seat needed a good scrub and a build up of dust in some areas. For some reason, the air conditioner would not turn on, but the ceiling fan was sufficient for the night. The parking lot is gated and closes after 10pm but is accessible with a code that the front counter will provide. Check out is simple with two options; one, leave the key in the room or two, place it in the drop box. Overall, a reasonable stay if you are on a budget but if you can spend a bit more, pay for a hotel on the main road.

The booking and check-in process was straight forwards. Good pub and meal downstairs and the staff were approachable. Off street secure parking for hotel guests was available and would recommend using. The rooms are very basic and could do with renovations. Price is probably a bit steep given the conditions of the room.

Spacious country pub with a pool table. Food was both well priced and well made - we had Wednesday's two burgers for $20 special and cheesy bacon bread, all substantial servings. Very nice staff and friendly vibe.

On a recent drive from Melbourne to Brisbane I needed somewhere to stop with my son half way. Picked the Castlereagh for convenience. First impression, the staff were friendly although more focused on the pub bar customers & pulling pints than on checking guests in - check-in was very hurried. The twin room we were given was very dirty, had marks on the wall, broken cupboards & a large portion of the plaster wall missing (fallen out on floor). A plus though, was the surprising comfort of the single bed - the bathroom hadn't been cleaned in some time & also suffered from mould. However, the food in the restaurant was the star of this show - one of the best T-bone steaks I've had in a while. It's just a shame everything else let it down. Avoid this hotel for an overnight stay I'm sure there's plenty of other budget alternatives available in Dubbo. But do come here for an excellent pub steak meal.

Just came here for lunch, the steak sandwiches were better when they served them on toasted sourdough, now they are served on a Turkish style roll which isn't as nice & is now classed as a steak burger. If its not broken, don't fix it.

It's a room above a centrally located pub. It's old, but relatively clean. We stayed in a room with an ensuite, a double/queen and two singles which had a tv, small bar fridge, kettle, aircon, and included free cereal and milk for breakfast. Some rooms lead onto a lovely exterior balcony, though this one had a window looking over a car park. It's fine, but for 3 people was about $130, which is about the same as some of the cheaper motels. Restaurant serves decent food and pub was nice enough.

I left my $450 Sony headphones and a couple of books there while leaving in hurry. When I called them to ask if they have it, they said no.

I had the roast of the day, which was lamb. Served with a mint sauce chips and veges. For 14 bucks, I thought i was dreaming. The portion size was satisfying and the service was excellent. The bistro was bustling with people, it seemed the place to be if in need of a good feed and a good time out

I don't know in which universe this place is a 4 star hotel, but not mine. The carpet smelt of cigarette smoke, the toilet didn't flush properly, the bedding had cigarette burn marks, my bed was propped up on books and the final straw was a cockroach running up the wall behind my head. I was expecting pub noise and cheap and cheerful, but not squalor.

Had a meal with friends in the bistro. We were there at midday, 8 people. Placed our orders, two meals arrived in good time. The place filled out people who arrived well after us had ordered, eaten and left when staff came out and said the order was missed and apologised. We were served 20 minutes later. Food was what you would expect from a pub meal with large servings.

Friendly hotel with welcoming locals. Bistro meal was delicious and served graciously to us by Eve, a lovely young lady, who went above and beyond to welcome us. We'll be back!

Food pretty average. Only time I have had to ask for and pay for gravy to go with my bangers and mash. Rooms atrocious. Overpriced, dirty and unhygienic. Was told live music (which was pretty good) would finish at 12:30 am. Was not told disco would go to 3 am. Ridiculously loud. Had to stop at a rest stop outside of town to rest for couple of hours to be able to keep driving. Avoid staying there at all costs.

Dirty outdated rooms. Crumbly walls and paint, hair all over sink, mold in showers, windows that don't shut. Loud music from the pub till 1am then patrons fight, leud comments to street walkers follwed by drink driving street rally. All within ear distance of your bed. $108/night seems quite expensive for this kind of stay....

An excellent overnight stay. Clean, basic but very comfortable room and friendly, helpful staff. We visited from Sydney and decided to stay overnight due to the brewing fierce storm. Last available room had 2 single beds and shared bathroom facilities, fine with me. The building is about 100yrs old and I love that most of the original features have remained. Recommended for anyone wanting basic but clean accommodation. Ps, we did not experience any offensive smells!

Affordable accommodation on Friday, Attached is an exclusive secure parking lot. The music downstairs ends at 1 midnight. The double room is clean and simple without bathroom. The heating and cooling function is good. 1-The backpack in the room needs to be placed on the floor, and there is insufficient storage space. 2-The bottom part of the shared bathroom window cannot be closed due to cold weather in winter. 3-A microwave oven can be added to the shared kitchen.

$110 for a room that the blankets were not washed the jug was very grotty. I could of got a budget motel way better than this but l had to catch a bus from the train station by 8am and this was close to the station. I wouldn't ever stay or even recommend this hotel to anyone.
