Yummy food, friendly staff, good value!

Would not recommend bringing children or family to this venue. Junkies use the bathroom to shoot up and the staff don’t care. Even when alerted the staff have more of a problem with the patrons reporting the issue. So unless you want to catch aids go elsewhere.

Well done to the chef on Anzac day at lunch time. Ordered Lamb Shank and was most impressed . Great dish and together with an $8 schooner made for a happy lunch .Keep up the good work . I ll be back .

We are currently visiting from W.A and tonight we dined at the Cecil Hotel. We received a warm welcome from the staff.
The food was absolutely delicious and served well, and the customer service was just superb!
Great atmosphere, we were there with our children (14, 16 & 18 yrs) and they thoroughly enjoyed it also. Making it a great choice for families.
Would definitely recommend the Cecil Hotel for the food, service and great value as well. Thank you for a wonderful evening 😊
As a side note, those Coca cola water bottles are really cool too!

Terrible pub. Seems like everyone is on drugs. If your on holiday to the Gold Coast like us DO NOT go here. Used needle in men’s bathroom. Blonde bar guy is extremely rude. 1/10 unless you want to catch aids go elsewhere.

Staff were really friendly, has a great atmosphere. If you love your sports, this is the place to go to. Conveniently located on the corner next to the tram stop. Will definitely be back

Not sure what the other two reviewers are on about with drug users and this place not being safe for children?
We visited this place with two young kids, had great pizzas and cold fresh Stone & Wood pints, all while being served by the wonderful staff member named Jay. We felt totally welcome and it has a family friendly atmosphere.
Will definitely return here next time we're in the area.

Nice local pub with good daily specials. Can’t do much better than the Parmi and a Pot for $15. Good value, and it was pretty good 👍👍

My Schnitzel and Chips were great. My salad was 3 weeks old. Pizza was really REALLY bad with a burnt bottom and cheese not fully melted. Ceasar was OK. VB on tap was pretty good. Garlic bread was burnt. Service was pretty good. Overall below average as the whole point was to get a decent meal which we simply did not

Just a basic pub with your normal pub meals but they do have a wood fired pizza oven.I decided on the pizza special for $15.The American Hot pizza arrived 15-20 minutes later which was good.The dough was about underdone but tasted ok with the salami and chillies.Not slot of toppings but for the price you can't complain.

Jackson, Shane and Michelle are an exceptional group of people. Amazing Customer service and communication. Always feel at home here every sunday after church with my friends !!!!
Comfortable environment and the meal is good as always !!!!😊😊😊

I was both surprised and impressed with the Cecil Hotel. While I am definitely not a Pub person, the meal that both "She Who Must Be Obeyed" and I recently had at the Cecil was well above average for a number of reasons.
#1 The staff were welcoming, polite and service oriented.
#2 Table service - by that I mean that the attentive staff actually come to your table and take your order (yes really).
#3 Well presented, appealing and reasonably priced food. Served on decorative plates and delivered looking like some attention to detail had been taken to make it appear fairly appealing and presentable.
While all the staff that we encountered in the Cecil Hotel were all polite, helpful and attentive. The standout staff member was our waitress Jacqueline. I had a quick word with Jacqueline on our departure, to let her know that I appreciated the pleasant and impressive service that she provided. However she also she deserves some public recognition that I hope this review will acknowledge. Well done Jacqueline, you impressed us both very much.
For anyone reading this review it is important to note that the Cecil Hotel is a pub/sports bar.
It is not a place to go if you seek ambience, or a quiet dining experience. While there were dedicated tables for dining, there was no real separation or partitions between the general bar area and the dining area.
The music (relatively pub standard playlist stuff) my beloved partner "She Who Must Be Obeyed" felt was too loud, although I enjoyed it.
The Sporting Broadcasts displayed on multiple screens set on the internal walls of the bar/dining area can be a bit distracting. But it is after all what you would expect to see in a sports focused pub.
But please don't let the above detract from trying the Cecil Hotel out for a nice meal, great service and reasonably priced food. We had the $25 steak and garlic prawns which I would highly recommend.

It was that good I visited it again the following day and repeated the same addictive bi pollar behaviour as the previous day , exceeded daily limit on 2 bank accounts, but had 3 particular pokies going berserk for like 2hours with constant bell sounds from features activating to have all 3 machines around the 2500$ mark n I played all down n walked away with my peka in hand , yeah it was that good I repeated exactly the same mentally ill behaviour the following day with same result , peka in hand. Yesm8 was great. If I pulled out when she's had enough I would be 10 to 13k better off but hey no cigar this day. N that's why I don't do pokies ,

Great place for a pint and a pizza. The crowd here is mostly older people though so be mindful of that. The average customer here is about 50 years old.

Friendly welcome from the lady behind the bar, walked in to the sun drenched door on the corner main entrance. Spent a couple of hours there and thought I'd order lunch. Ordered crispy skin salmon medium rear more rear. Came back fully cooked, returned the meal and asked for medium rear or rear again, the salmon came back peeeerrrrfect. The staff are amazing and accommodating. Great place! 5 stars

Exceptional Service and Friendly Atmosphere
The Cavil Hotel has become my go-to spot for pokies, and for good reason. The staff here are truly amazing – they are always welcoming, and I'm consistently greeted with a smile no matter the time of day. What sets this place apart is the management's dedication to ensuring patrons are happy. It's remarkable how they take the time to come out to the floor regularly, even when they're busy, to engage with customers and ensure everyone is having a great time. Their commitment to customer satisfaction is truly commendable. The welcoming atmosphere, combined with the attentive and friendly staff, makes the Cavil Hotel a top-notch venue for anyone looking for a fantastic experience. Keep up the great work, Cavil Hotel!

Excellent pub on the corner, super close to the water for a walk, Australian Fair is close by.
The $15 pizza served every lunch is great value and very tasty.
Front bar is a well equipped set up for a punt and sports to watch.
Appears to have plenty of locals which gives a good feel.
The staff were super friendly and service was quick.
Well stocked bars with drinks to cater for all.

Excellent location. The G stops right out front, and the bus terminal is less than a minute's walk.
Had a cold VB for $7.70 while waiting for the bus. I wouldn't mind trying a meal next time.

Decent pub in the heart of Southport. No real complaints, my steak sandwich was tasty, service was friendly and fast.

A relaxing atmosphere. The food is the best!
The cabonara is the best. Also the whole menu is fantastic.
