Chevron Tavern

Went there a few weeks ago for 2 for 1 special. It was really good. Chef came to our table to see how the food was. Went back tonight. Got there at 5.30 pm. Staff didn't even know which was the right menu. Actually staff were totally not interested in serving at all . Ordered a nacho which said on menu came with guacamole. It came with just sour cream, asked the staff for that, he had no interest at all. Took the whole plate back to the kitchen instead of just bringing some back in a small dish. No idea of hospitality or customer service. Had food on the table that was asked if I wanted to take home and I said no thanks it was horrible. Never said sorry I will ask the chef. Just took no notice. As locals will never go back there again, and will be telling our friends. Had to go across the road to Chevron Thai for better service and food.

Well what can I say! I had my birthday at the tavern last night and Pearce and the staff were absolutely amazing !! We had the dining room and everything was wonderful. We were able to decorate and move tables to suit, and the nibbles were awesome 😍 The room was just perfect.Thank you so much Pearce for a memorable night and definitely see you soon.

We always have such a great experience here! The new chef is amazing and lovely! All the staff always go above and beyond. I don’t know all their names but Steph is so lovely. Her customer care is 10/10. We love that here is also family friendly 🤎 Also the bands are always great too! Thank you for always a great experience. See you again soon

Was very noisy when we turned up & we didn’t stay. Even the dining room, backing on to the bar, was noisy even though it was empty.

Very nice atmosphere. Real friendly staff. Meals were nice except would not recommend steamed veggies as a side choose another. Would go again. Prices good.

Very first place I've ever gone to that has sold out of 2 for 1 on a full menu If this is how they treat customers then the food is probably just as bad. Go to the Thai place,or like me and my partner the yummy fish and chips shop across the road At least they are not doing fake promotions

The burger was delicious and the staff incredibly friendly. I highly recommend it!

Spacious venue with really friendly and accommodating staff. Would love to see some independent QLD craft beers on the list though.

Ordered the roast of the day, it was ok in taste but a generous portion size. Would have liked some hot sauce or Sriracha which they didn't have. Loved that they had cheap drinks on the counter. Got an alcoholic can for $4. Service can be slow even without being too busy. Waited over 45mins for food. Atmosphere is nice and place is clean. Went on a Sunday so there was plenty of parking, but during the week I think there's limited parking and may need to be paid.

My husband and I stayed in Chevron Island for our holiday. First night we had dinner and it was absolutely delicious we took back pizza to our family and they were the best pizza we have had! We decided to have dinner at the Taverm most nights as the chef went out of his way to facilitate our dietary requirements. Great value for money. Entertainment was awesome and the staff were very friendly. Thankyou we will be back! Great

Me and my wifey decided to take advantage of the Tuesday 2 for 1 special. What 2 for 1 special? It's 7.40pm and it's sold out It's been advertised for a week, but we were told we could buy from the full menu. The 2 for 1 was even still outside. Terrible service and treating your customers like idiots

It was our last night on the gold coast We were staying on the Nrth part of Surfis Paradise, decided on going to an Italian restaurant on Chevron Island, stopped in for a drink before dinner and we ended not leaving. Went up to the bar and we were served by a beautiful young man named Gabriel, bought drinks and we never left. We were having such a great night we decided to have dinner here. We had the scotch fillet and the chicken sniddie, both just good old pub meals but done with perfection. Chicken Schnitzel was made from scratch the chicken was delicious and juicy with hot salty chips and fresh salad that was also made fresh (not like the old wilted salad you usually get) and gravy on the side Scotch fillet was cooked to perfection medium rare juicy and same sides. I can't say enough about the bartender Gabriel and the chef both doing their jobs but doing them so well. The young man in the kitchen was cleaning and cooking as I could see him from where I was he never stopped and Gabriel the bartender fantastic customer service with an amazing personality. It's a must go place.

I made a special trip down to the coast just to try out the karaoke there only to arrive and then be told by the host that the karaoke had finished for the night and that if I want to sing that I could only do one song and that to seemed unfair considering that I had a hard time getting there and finding the place. Very disappointed 😞.

I have to stress at the start that this review is of our takeaway experience at Chevron Tavern. NOT dining in. Having waited for my food order, the interior seemed cosy, clean, and well looked after. There were also some redeeming qualities of my takeaway experience, hence rating 3 stars and not 2, but overall it was a very frustrating to mediocre experience at best. On Thu 29 Dec '22, we had an arranged picnic at Main Beach and had the in-laws with us. Everyone has varying tastes and Chevron Tavern was on our way and seemed to cover a wide range of foods, so we figured we'd order all in one there instead of restaurant hopping on the way. Boy, did I regret that decision. I phoned up well in advance (30+mins) to place my order, so that everything would be ready before time. The first bit of frustration came when the menu on their website, which I was ordering from, was completely out of date. Half the stuff I wanted to order was no longer actually on the menu. The girl who helped me over the phone was very helpful and friendly, she made sure to read my entire order back to me, and ensured she had everything correct, which she did. Took my number, name and even asked what time we'd be picking up. I got to the Tavern to find out the girl who had taken my order had since left, and I got two blank stares from the two ladies behind the bar when I said I was there to collect an order under my name. Not only that, the blonde bar lady gave some snotty answer to the effect of "well X wrote something down, but I dunno what it was". I could tell this wasn't going to go well, but kept my cool, despite seeing our schedule go well behind. To her credit, the dark-haired bar lady tried her best to help me, and was very friendly and patient, but ended up having to retake my entire order. She also did her best to rush the kitchen along, but needless to say it was a good 20mins later that I finally left with our food. Now I realise this isn't so bad in the grand scheme of things, but remember I specifically ordered ahead so I could just pick up and go, being on a schedule. Not only that, but I was 5mins down the road then they phoned me up again--apparently miraculously having rediscovered my number--to say they'd missed my loaded fries, which meant I had to turn around AGAIN. Really just frustrating all round. And keep in mind this was a food order of over 100 dollars. As for the food review: - The salt and pepper calamari was well cooked, but fairly bland. Not much salt or pepper in the batter to speak of. On a bed of fairly bland, dry white rice. Not bad, but average at best. - Much the same story with chicken satay. Well cooked, but bland chicken, with a sauce that has peanut in it, but that's where the similarities to satay ends. Not great, not bad. - The caesar salad was okay. Tasty bacon, parmesan, croutons and a fresh egg. Too much salad leaves for our taste, but that seems to be par for the course on the Goldie. - The garlic bread was very tasty and fresh. So A+ there. - The steak was really well cooked, and medium as requested. Kudos to the chef for that, really hard to get a well cooked steak these days. Nice chips, too, but unfortunately we got two mushroom sauces where I specifically asked for pepper for dad with an extra mushroom for us. Dad doesn't eat mushroom, so had to be content with a bare steak. Again, had the phone order, which was originally correct, been put in and not rushed, stuff like this wouldn't have happened. - Loaded fries were also good. Big portion, tasty chips and bacon. So overall the entire experience was just mediocre to average at best. Some redeeming qualities, but disappointing to say the least. If you want a takeaway, steer clear of Chevron Tavern is my advice. I realise at the end of the day I shouldn't expect 5 star, gourmet at a tavern, but the bar is so high on the Gold Coast, especially in the Chevron area, I just expected better.

I called in recently just to put on a Keno asking the operator for a 6 number ticket for 200 games at 1$ a game. I put the ticket in my pocket and left. I returned the next day for lunch and check my ticket only to find out that the operator had put on 6 numbers for 200$ for 1 game. Clearly the staff have no idea how to operate the gaming. So I was robbed of $199 the manager telling me it was my fault for not checking before I left to the venue. even if I had walked out to my car and checked the ticket it would’ve been too late. The Tavern obviously has no duty of care to the patrons to make sure the staff know how to operate properly. As far as I am concerned that they are a bunch of crooks so much for the heartbeat of Chavron. B/S

Great food at great prices & the beer is also one of the cheapest on the Gold Coast. Plus live music most nights so do yourself a favour & visit. You won't be disappointed.

Friendly staff and well priced drinks

For the third time, I have asked for chicken on my salad and yet once more they forget. Tonight after stuffing up, the manager had the audacity to come up to me and ask for an extra $6 after their stuff up. Won’t be back.

Don’t be fooled by the paid reviews or the promise of it being “the heart of chevron”. It may have been renovated but it’s still the same old shady dump it has always been. Drunk deros by day gambling on the horses and fights & drug deals by night. Best avoided.

DO NOT eat here… absolutely thee worst service. I sent my food back because it came out to me cold only to be told it wasn’t??!! Excuse me? Staff ZERO RATING. 😡 ripped off.

Burgers were good (my son had one and told me it was good) but I had the displeasure of eating a steak. As someone who has eaten a lot of food at different venues I can say that I would skip the steaks here. Poorly cooked to be polite. Atmosphere was good. Service was 50/50. Had two waitresses. One was fantastic, the other, very rude.

Bang on food and great service. Lovely place for a quick cheap and excellent meal or somewhere to have a drink. Either way, it's great. Will definitely be back again. Chicken schnitzels are the best we have had on the coast so far and we go to lots of places to test them out!

Awesome steak special! Deliciously cooked. Didn’t know what to expect as bistro was empty but clean and well presented. Really wanted steak and this place didn’t disappoint. Popped in for late Sat lunch (ends 2pm) and couldn’t believe how good the $16.50 steak special was. Great little find and central GC spot without being in the hustle and bustle!! Coming back for more hope it’s still around!!

A local to Chevron Island l have visited the Tavern several times for lunch, lately the food quality has deteriorated significantly, while the price has increased. Hard to Recommend.
