You need to put a better chef on that can cook lovely meals. I have eaten twice at the R.S.L and both times my meal over 30ims and both times the fish was raw. I took back I told them I can't eat this, look the fish is raw. Staff just smile at me. Horrible service, will be telling my friends,and they will tell there friends. Bad for business, get a NEW Chef

Wow....you wouldn't want to be in a hurry. Slow service, inattentive staff. The Chef couldn't keep up with all the orders....when my Chicken Salad finally arrived pleased to say it was good. After eating, the table wasn't cleared even though there were 3 staff members literally doing nothing. However the Chef was labouring away still trying to fulfill lunch orders

We were a group of five and we all thoroughly enjoyed our “high tea” experience.
It’s very good value - a glass of bubbly, a hot drink and loads of food all for $20.
The tables were well set out and it was lovely to have linen serviettes.

We usually have a pleasant experience with staff at the club but today were given a very unpleasant experience when given a roast meal that consisted of some sliced meat with gravy. When we complained the service person and a member of the cooking staff were extremely hostile. Dave McConnachie 16373

We drove from Sydney to there, ordered 2 barramundi with veg and chips. Chips arrived in 45 minutes fish was still to be cooked. I cancelled my order, very disappointed they take your order and forget about it. Very inexperienced chefs I noticed. One star for your apology .

We bought 5 meals, all plates were delicious and heartily consumed. All was washed down with a delightful array of beverages including our bottle of cab sauv!

Waited 45 minutes for fish and chips. Calamari was tender but fish was worst I can remember.

Thoroughly enjoyed City Diggers. Lovely staff, really yummy food, great food choices and prices😊.
Although, the only thing that disappointed us, was the Cafe. We could only get a cup of tea or coffee, not even a cake to choose from. 😕

The only thing I found uncomfortable is while eating lunch, there was a big line up infront of me. But I don't think much can be done about that.
The service was prompt.
The meal was good.
Toilets were clean.
Really can't complain.
I had salt and pepper squid , but I would not order it again in a hurry. The squid was of poor quality.
Enjoyed the afternoon show.
Hi I was here on 28 may.Food was great.
But perhaps the club can do with a music lounge area.

The food was delicious and good value. The environment wasn't anything special but clean and tidy. The food was quick though the restaurant was nearly empty. I ordered sirloin strip steak on a Wednesday.

Staff were wonderful. Very helpful and knowledgeable. But I'm not too happy about the new menu. I didn't know you could call a handful of lettuce salad. Really disappointed. Chips were cooked well though.

Staff were lacking in training, took 10 minutes before we could sign in, and only then when a staff member came from the cafe to help. Lunch orders were mixed up, and the rump steak was tough enough to sole shoes. I used to love dining here, but that has changed and I doubt if we will return.

Since amalgamating with the Wollongong Golf Club, the Ex-Services Club has taken a few hits. It was great to see it on Anzac Day, where the place was bustling with Two Up; music; and food options from His Boy Elroy. I think the members are hopeful this place can turn a corner and be more inviting in the future.

Schnitzel and chips really requires the chips to be warmish and gravy to taste of more than water. And how do you burn a burger? And it's kind of a good idea not to stick your finger in a quarter full glass of wine before asking if it's finished.

Ordered and paid for food, waited patiently for more than 45 minutes. Noticed staff appeared to be closing the kitchen. Went over and asked would our food be much longer? Staff member said,oh, didn't you get your food?
Oh, our kitchen has closed. Chef kindly offered to cook Parmas which was all he could do. As I'm celiac I can't eat those. He apologised to me, not his fault though. Waitress assured me she had put our order through correctly. Chef didn't receive a meal ticket, so it wasn't cooked. I was livid by now. Then I had to stand around and wait for several minutes for a refund to be organised. I expected a lot better from an RSL. Manager didn't bother to applogise at all. Left it to the chef to deal with. I'm sure if the chef was managing, the place would run a lot smoother. Kids and I left hungry and very angry. Didn't even finish our drinks I was too angry to stay any longer.

Not sure if something has happened with this place or it was just like a ghost town when we went there for dinner on a Friday night. The food was pretty average, even by club standards and unfortunately it’s not somewhere I would recommend for dinner. Maybe just a catch up for a drink.

Not a good experience today. Lunch, the order was steak/veges/chips. I received steak/chip/salad. The steak was so overcooked it wasn't funny. The chef needs to undergo retraining. With very few customers the chef had plenty of time to cook a steak properly. The staff were chatting in the kitchen with dirty tables left unattended. Not impressed. Front desk unattended until I got a bar person to comeover who was unable to help. She went & got a person who did help & updated member cards. The whole experience was very poor & I wont go back. EVER

No atmosphere, only free to air TV. Lower than average meals.
More entertaining at a morgue.
Waste of time opening their doors, but then they would have trouble feeding gambling addictions.

Nice club but food is terrible. I've only found one dish on the menu that's palatable and that's the Thai beef salad, but really their is not much you can stuff up in this dish.

I went from a 5 star to a 1 star because I tried to just walk in, and an old fella stopped me saying I needed to sign in. I have no ID on me I just wanted a few beers but apparently it's not that simple so I went somewhere else. Bloody rediculous to have to sign in and carry a wallet just to drink beer in a 33 degrees day!

It was nice and quiet in here. Seats were comfy. We just ordered a simple Margherita pizza, garlic bread and a drink. Well, the garlic bread was nice, but the pizza was beautiful! Just a simple combo and not even real tomato, just paste, but it tasted divine. Just what we needed for lunch. Price was reasonable, too. Will definitely go back again.

I ordered the rissolles, when they arrived they looked like meat patties and had been deep fried. 😳 they were not nice. since when do you deep fry rissolles. I was not well for many hours after eating them as I never eat deep fried food as it upsets my stomach.

In all honesty I’ll be avoiding this place until they get with the times.
Nearly every other watering hole has complimentary soft drinks an coffee for (gaming room patrons)
The diggers seems to only be focused on digging in everyone’s wallet,
My grandfather was a bloody digger.
Seeing the greedy individuals running clubs dedicated to him is an insult.

I have noticed a definite change in the menu and I'm afraid it falls short of what the bistro use to serve. I commend the staff for friendliness, courtesy and good service. Meals are smaller and some noticeable changes that need fixing: a good mix of gourmet vegetables replaced by plain green peas and some pak choi; french fries have replaced crispy, delicious thick-cut wedges; there is no holding back on the salt or dressing. Customers should be allowed to add their own spices or condiments like salt, pepper or dressing. This should not be done by the chef or chef's hand. This was with baked salmon which was satisfactory but too had changed from fillet to two smaller pieces. Visitors and members come to a club for good food. City Digger's had this reputation but unfortunately something has changed. Please don't fall below the standard you once had.

Had a quick meal in the Bistro, absolutely terrible. The garlic bread was the best thing. The lamb roast was disgusting, tasted like cardboard and the Baked Salmon my wife ordered, was way too salty, we both agree it was the worst meal we’ve had since returning to Australia 2 months ago. It’s a pity because the staff were good and the service fantastic. But the food shocking. I should of complained on the night, but we were in a hurry. Not recommended!
