We recently had a couple of meals at the Clock Hotel and our experiences were quite mixed. For dinner, we were delighted by the perfectly cooked steaks at our entire table. They were prepared just as ordered—medium rare and bursting with flavor. This meal was fantastic and left us looking forward to our next visit.
However, when we returned just two days later for lunch, our experience took a downturn. All of our steaks were overcooked to a significant degree, despite ordering medium rare each time. The inconsistency was disappointing, especially given how great the food had been previously.
Despite the variability in food quality, the Clock hotel remains worth a visit if you're in the area. Just be aware of the potential inconsistency in the meals. Overall, it's still an okay spot to grab a meal.

Went to grab a burger as was 50% off after 2pm. Was not expecting much but BAMMM!!! It was 100% delicious, freshly made patty, perfectly cooked bacon and the bun super soft and fresh.

We dined in for the $18 angus rump weekday special meal. The meal does not include sauce or salad, which costs an extra $2.50 and $5 respectively. You may as well buy the
$23 full priced meal which includes sauce and salad. They do not advertise the actual terms and conditions which I found misleading to the consumer. I requested to see the terms but they could not provide these in writing. I ordered my steak medium rare and the steak came out medium. The chef made a second steak but it was thin and chewy. I won't dine here again unfortunately, not a pleasant first time experience.

The steak you can get for $18 is very delicious. I'm happy to be able to eat at this price. I also like that you can choose between mashed potatoes or fries. Besides steak they also have delicious dishes such as chicken parma and fish and chips. Anyone who wants a cheap and delicious dinner should go here.

The meals were fantastic and the sauce on the Parma really stood out packed with flavour. The Byron bay bucket delivered with excellent service and genuine welcoming staff top off a great experience thanks guy’s.

That was a good place!!
From 2pm to 5pm, the burger is only $9. However, you also need to order one drink($4).

Takes the gong for the worst meal of the year
I guess we were unlucky to order the roast beef.
The meat was hard and grey from overcooking, the potatoes tasted like leftovers that had been reheated and the pumpkin was charred to blackness.
In fairness we politely told the manager of our disappointment but he shrugged his shoulders and promised to do better next time.

Salmon was cooked well but half my sides were left off the plate.No dairy free sauce option. Very expensive for a piece of salmon with a bit of green leaf and lemon. Disappointing

Pretty solid corner pub, $18 lunch deal is hard to beat. Steak was a bit over cooked (medium well instead of medium rare) but chips were perfect and the size of the steak was pretty solid

Pleasant tavern pub, great service. Pokies and Racing available downstairs. Bar is on street level. Wheelchair friendly. Clock chimes every 30min. Situated 1x street away from Cavill. The tram lines run past the venue. Classic old hotel with lots of history.

Ordered the rump and a side of veg for a extra $6. Rump had a metallic taste and very few pieces of veg as a side. Bar service was good but disappointed with food.

Nicolas is a friendly young man and literally saves this place from getting a much lower score. Other staff members are so accommodating.
The place is regularly empty despite its central location.
Love the clock going off each hour but that's pretty much it.

Love love love the steak. Thank you for your delicious Diane sauce that I seem to be addicted to. Definitely make this your regular pub and first stop for a decent meal
Update: have now been here three YEARS and this is most definitely my regular spot. Dog friendly as you can see see pic below. Good value

I went in lunch at the Clock Hotel and tried one of their pub specials for $13.95. There was a choice of Angus Top Sirloin steak, chicken schnitzel or fish and chips.
Had the Steak with mash potato. Was ok 4/5. Some parts of the steak was very chewy, other parts tender. I ordered the steak to be cooked medium and it came out a little under cooked as had blood coming out when I cut into it, more Medium-rare. Charged extra $2.50 for pepper sauce. No salad.
OK meal but have had better steaks at other pubs in Surfers Paradise for $16 (Goldie's) with chips or mash with salad and sauce.

Had to try the $16 meals after seeing them advertised out the front. Wow... the steak (thick cut) was delicious and cooked to perfection! Kids really enjoyed the chicken schnitzel's, hot chips were really good too. Very busy (Thursday 27th Oct 2022) but didn't wait long at all for our meals. Staff were really friendly and had a really nice atmosphere too.

Had $18 Angus steak. If it was not overcooked, it’d be great. I guess the steak was not seasoned with salt and pepper.

Great value for money! Food is fantastic, atmosphere is great. Facilities are clean and it's well located, easy to get to by tram and foot. It's so hard to find a great Chicken Parmigiana now, but we found one here! They did not disappoint. Chicken was juicy and tender, portions were exactly as big as they should be and care went into serving up a tasty dish. Prices are also pretty good. Can't wait to go back and try the cocktails.

Food was delicious, definitely will be returning. Cooked fast, steak was cooked perfect for all 4 meals, full of flavour and very filling! Mushroom sauce was delicious also! The only picky thing is, I think you should be able to order steak with vegetables, without the extra cost and only salad as an option. Highly recommend this hotel. Great job.!

Felt a bit like stepping into an old tragic movie whete dreams came and died but still linger in the corners. Magic just out of reach outside... If you're into that stepping back in time vibe. It's certainly an iconically sad and also brillant sensation. I loved it.

Fast service, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and fairly priced.
2 long islands, 2 mains, and an appetiser for $96 which all tasted really good.

Eaten there on two consecutive nights. The meals on the first night had us coming back the following night. The Roast Port, Ribs and Schnitzel were all cooked to perfection as well a good serving of nuggets and chips for the kid. It's rare that I decide to give a google review and normally only when I've had a negative experience, but we both thought the food and atmosphere was terrific.

Delicious food at very reasonable prices. Welcoming and friendly staff. Very attentive and talented chef. Quick service even at peak times - which was great as we were quite hungry after an evening at the beach. The kids menu, especially the dinosaur-shaped nuggets, and the ice cream were well appreciated. We loved the pub specials on our first visit so much that we went the next evening to try the rest of the menu. Over our two visits, we tried the beef steak, lamb shanks, crispy salmon, calamari salad, beef burger, grilled prawns and chicken parma...every dish was scrumptious!
Do excuse the prawns scattered in the pics, I decided to review only after we started to eat :)
Indoor, outdoor and multi-level seating is available. Adequate toilet facilities present. Has a wheelchair accessible entrance.

Came here on the 24/10/2023, My partner and I ordered the Rump steak, it was tender however slightly dry, mushroom sauce was awesome, salad was nice, dressing was amazing and chips were crispy. Great service from staff, Prices were good with food and beer .

Been in Surfers four nights now. Best feed and value so far. Chef knows how to cook a T Bone to perfection.I'll be back......
Well a year later and im back like I promised. This place is still the best in Surfers. They go out of their way to seat 8 without a booking. The food as it was last time is superb. See you guys next year !!!!

$18 for the steak and fries(or mash potato) +$2.5 for sauce. Ordered medium rare but came out a bit too done.
