What has happened to the food. Visited on 6th June 24 and discovered a new and interesting menu compared to a few weeks earlier. The menu looked OK but the food was bloody awful. How can you get a chicken parma completely wrong. The cheese tasted like plastic, the ham had no flavour at all, then there was a dash of coles home brand tomato sauce between the schnitzel and the ham. The schnitzel was also soggy, which is very strange considering that it came out of a deep fryer. As for the chips, well they were nothing but grease, absolutely disgusting. The food here was disgusting and not worthy of its overpriced expense. Most of it was left on the table and not eaten. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere if you want a meal that is at least average. I suppose this explains why the club was so empty compared to normal, nobody likes their food.

This place has gone downhill. It is my birthday and I regret coming here. They give you a $20 voucher, BUT you need to pay for 2 main meals. So I had to get a family member to pay with me, which is fine but I was thinking, what happens to the members who actually have no one to go with? Food came out, and was terrible. Margarita pizza was soggy. Mixed grill: Steak was not rare, lamb chops were dry, wings were even more dry and the sausage was borderline raw. To say the least, go somewhere else. On top of that the meals came out well separate to each other so had all of us eating at different times. Club Menai has down hill and its unfortunate. At least being a member at The Prince it is a $25 voucher and you can use the voucher on your own.

The grilled barramundi was delightful, moist and just melted off your fork! ...But the rest of my experience was awful. The veggies were undercooked, mash dry and lumpy. People in there were rude and all gave ugly looks, even the waitress didn't know how to smile. The rest of the cakes were all dry and the kind that's been re-frozen over and over again, horrible. Coffee tasted burnt as anything. Not coming back here.

Such a lovely club - in area for a 4 hours only - virtually stumbled across it - great for a drink to watch footy - great atmosphere . Food & service above standards for similar venues …… Well done to Mgt

Pleasant and spacious bistro that includes an outdoor eating area as well as a cosy fireplace inside. I had the “seafood plate for one”. At $37 in February 2023 it was excellent value and very fresh and tasty.

Outstanding food and even better service! The family and I had lunch here for father's day and even under massive amounts of pressure from the volume of people the kitchen banded together and provided fantastic service and customer service skills and the food was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. Hats off to you guys, as a business owner I appreciate seeing a well managed team with a great work force

Our group had 2 large tables. All the food looked and tasted and presented well, quite generous serves. The seafood platters looked wonderful, nothing left on plates.......which is a good 👍

Ordered the 900gm pork riblets for $37 .. Very fatty and not very pleasant to eat. Shame , I should have got the chicken schnitzel.

My parents have dragged me to Menai Club for 20 years, this place is hit and miss. The Bistro changes owners often which means the menu and quality of the food changes too. Currently, the food is pretty bad (sorry Menai Club). I ordered one of the saddest chicken parmigiana's I've seen and paid $29 for it which feels like a lot based on the quality, it came burnt, with a stingy amount of toppings and a wilted side salad that no one on the table wanted to eat . Let's just say the food tastes as good as it looks 🫣 they will also charge you 20% more than the prices displayed on the menu if you are not a club member. There is nothing there for kids, except high chairs. Security WILL tell you and your kids to sit down and stop playing, even in the outdoor area. Don't get me wrong, the place is OK - average small local club that looks nice and modern. If you have kids, bring table based activities to entertain them 🖍

Must be a member. One of our group had to join on the day to enter. Membership is cheap. The atmosphere at the club is inviting, staff are friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. Parking in and around the club.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the Club offered a Bambino and Grandparents menu. However the experience turned out to be very disappointing 😞 The children's meals were more for adults, no chicken and chips/ fish and chips or children's hamburgers. I was forced to buy hamburgers 🍔 off the main menu.

I'm a member of most clubs in the Sutherland area and during my Birthday month I receive notifications that I have a Birthday credit to use during the month. When I tried to redeem my $20 restaurant credit at Club Menai (Illawarra Catholic Club) I was told it could not be used for a single meal like all the other local clubs. I guess single people who have lost their friends are not the clubs target demographic. The club is O.K and bar staff are friendly but like most it's run as a small casino. PS the restaurant buzzers are hit & miss, you may check after a long wait and find your meal cold on the shelf and told "yea they don't always work if your outside of the bistro".

I am a regular visitor of club central and having food in bistro. But today's experience was worst in terms of food. We ordered momos which was new for us in menu. I love momos but what we got here is the worst I had in my life. I'm only writing this post bcs I'm a huge lover of momos nd if somebody can serve it in this way to customer is pathetic. But overall club central is very nice place to be with family, but yes no momos.

Great meals at good value prices. Join up for instant discounts. Great coffee and fantastic deserts! Highly recommended.

Great food, great coffee. Lovely atmosphere to sit and chat. Visiting from Mid North Coast for a friend's birthday 🎂. Club is very accommodating and staff helpful and friendly. We had a lovely time. Thank you

Good food but maybe need to rethink the conditions on the birthday vouchers. I orders 2x tapas and sharing dishes that were $21 each and 1 X main meal dish that was $20 and couldn’t use my voucher because I didn’t order 2 X main meals, even thought the main was cheaper than the share plates. Maybe just say minimum order $40

Food was better than previous visits which is good to see. The atmosphere is always dead and it empties out after dinner time. So much potential.

Food is good. Drinks are cold. Plenty of space for dining and the biggest screen I've ever seen. The only downside was by 9:30 on a Friday with no footy on, the place just seemed to curl up and die. Please put some live music on to keep your patrons entertained.

Easy to park, large meal servings. Ability to order from your table and still receive member discount however not all specials were not on the app. Visited on a Saturday lunch, not many people in Bistro, however did have to chase a staff member in order to get our table cleared.

Came with my Mother in Law, Wife and Kids for Mothers Day. Was busier than I had ever seen but the line to order moved swiftly and the food came out in no time at all given the amount of people and everyone enjoyed it so big ticks all around

Bistro food is normally quite good but tonight something basic like kids spaghetti bolognese was revolting. The mince was ground to a pulp and it was like they added cheap packet tomato soup to it leading it to taste like a $2 coles lasagne for 1… Such as shame as everything else quite good club food. Hopefully they fix asap, if the kids don’t want to come here then we will go somewhere else… 21/3 - thank you for your reply below but please note I did raise it with staff but there was no replacement meal..

Bistro food as you would expect. Though costs are higher than other Clubs. Service is very good, though it was on a quite Monday night.

Been coming to the club on and off for years, however for the past few years food has been a little hit and miss, but nothing to complain about as the atmosphere and service in the club is always great. Tonight the schnitzel dish I was served was the worst dish I’ve had in any establishment in years. Paid $6 for a creamy garlic sauce and prawns topping and it missed the schnitzel by a few cm with the prawns being over cooked and sauce very bland, served onto top of a mound of chips that were stale and lukewarm, no salad or vegetables were present, and the chicken had separated from the schnitzel coating, also the mushroom sauce was a gravy. For $31 I’d expect a lot more care to be taken with the food, on a positive note the garlic bread and other dishes ordered were good!

Arrived here after having dinner at Rocksalt Menai - As we walked in, the security at the door(guy called Jony) asked how much we had had to drink. I told him that us ladies had had 1 bottle of wine between us during dinner. He responded "oh no - you have had a bottle of wine, you cannot come in". I was really taken aback and told him that "I" did not have bottle of wine - my friend and I had had it over a 3hr dinner at Rocksalt next door. He said ,"no - we have decided that you and your friend cannot come in - if you want, speak to our manager." At this point I was having a bit of a laugh as I thought he was actually just joking with us. My friend realised that he was in fact serious - she told him that it didn't matter, we were just popping in for a quick coffee - so we would just call our Uber and wait in the lobby(out of the rain) while it arrived. I advised Jony that my friend and I were ladies in our late 40s and 50, and not at all "intoxicated"... and happy to do a breathalyser test. The response was a "no, we have decided - this is my job and this is what I'm paid to decide". The guy that was "supposedly" the manager, was 2 mtre behind them. The security guy Jony whispered to the manager and told him that , "these girls are drunk and arguing, we can't let them in"(which we overheard). The manager then walked to us and told us that he was told that we were "argumentative" and so couldn't go in(we had not even asked to speak to the manager as we had already decided that we were leaving, and called our ride). This whole encounter occurred over a 3 minute period. This review is just for the general public to know - this club is discriminative towards anyone arriving after 10pm.... they will find a reason(however absurd) to not let you in. Please don't look happy if you arrive here later at night - they will irrationally assume and inform you that you are intoxicated - If you utter a single sentence to contradict their statement, then you are being "argumentative". We were walking in just to have a coffee after a lovely dinner out, as this was one of the venues close to our restaurant, which was still open. Visiting this club was a mistake - a terrible end to an otherwise amazing ladies night out. @Club Menai Management - you should take a serious look at who you hire to represent yourself as it significantly impacts the experience that patrons have. This security guard(Jony) came across like he is just on a power trip and has been put in a position where he can make decisions without needing to provide any justification. @Club Menai Management - Absolutely happy for you to assess the footage for tonight (5/4/24 approx 1045pm). This review is being written 30mins after leaving your venue - how intoxicated does anyone sound? As I mentioned above - my friend and I are ladies in our late 40s & 50. We were not drunk, disorderly, or coming in for a wild drinking session - we were walking in for a final coffee and maybe a dessert before heading home. But this experience really put a sour taste in our mouth. You should be ashamed of yourselves!
