We stayed in an old school motel room where we parked straight outside our room. ||The room is a good size, nice and clean with a fantastic view of the water. There was great (and free) Wi-Fi and enough power points to charge our devices. There was a nice little fridge and a dining table so we could eat our take-away fish and chips. ||It was everything I expected it to be in a budget hotel and would recommend a stay of a night or two.

Very disappointed in the lack of maintenance in room #24, compared to our friends room #23. Bathroom was disgusting. Mould everywhere. Room smelt Very musty. Blanket on bed Very old, smelly and dusty. Carpet Very tattered. Bed Very uncomfortable.

Very clean and tidy, well equipped, up to date decor, comfy chair very important. Lovely view, close to town, remarkably quiet. I was able to get a good nightly rate which made it good value for money.

this was a great place to stay. our room was spacious and comfortable. We had a small patio with table and chair which was lovely. No aircon, but the room stayed mostly cool even though it was hot (30c) and humid weather. Location centrally in town. close to parks, the river, supermarkets and shopping. The meals in the pub bistro were very good.

The room size fine basic but clean and good value for money. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The motel is set in a beautiful area with great walks around the beach. Located on the same site as the Pier Hotel where you can get a great meal.

Slow service to cheek in, reception was closed, hard to get bar attendant attention. Lift out of order and staff my have forgotten how to smile? Food was a typical pub grub. Good location with nice veiws. Delivery truck arrived at 7:30am to unload, made for unwanted noise early.

Our room was way better then we expected for the price. It was a large clean room with an ensuite and a great view over the river. The location was central and walking distance to shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay there again.

Nice, clean room, comfortably set up. In particular, there was a separate charcoal grey face washer marked 'make up remover' - really helpful.|TV reception was VERY poor, often disappearing after only a few minutes.|Nice view from the front. Close to things.|The man who checked me in had no sense of customer service at all and I felt like I was purely a transaction.

Most staff were great. Management left a lot to be desired. Did not like the poster in the room about if I don’t clean my cup I will be charged a $30 fee. What on earth do I pay for with the room fee. Not a pleasant manager. Did nothing to make our stay welcoming

Lovely hotel with great views over harbour, elegant dining room with outside covered in deck.||Attended for lunch and were the first customers. Two of us had the roast pork (no crackling) which was tough and vegetables warm to cold. One had rissoles which were nice, hot mash and cold vegetables.||One of us had the seared scollops with prawns on rice with garlic cream sauce. What was served was prawns with a few scollops.||Service prompt however food a lot to be desired

I stayed at The Pier for 3 nights, exploring the region’s attractions. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was serviced each day. I was able to park at my door. The hotel serves meals but I didn’t eat there. Reception staff were embarrassed and frustrated by computer issues that made it impossible for them to check guests in. They were apologetic and considerate of guest requirements. I would recommend this accommodation highly.

I spent 5 nights in the upstairs Queen room within the hotel. The room was very spacious, clean and well equipped. Including ensuite, reverse cycle air/con & TV & electric blanket. The room was made up every day and fresh linens supplied as needed. Beautiful water views. The on-site restaurant provides a good selection and also takes in the water views. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent value. Will definitely stay again when next in George Town visiting family.

I’m not a fussy eater but this lunch was rubbish. Fish of the day and it was like the ‘meat’ from fish fingers. The fish was super oily and the salad was some lettuce covered in onion. Husbands lunch was fine but I wasn’t so lucky.

I chose this as it is one of a few hotels local to the Bell Bay indurtial complex in N. Tasmania. It is basically a pub with attached accomodation|I arrived about 4pm to find the reception unattended, with a sign suggesting I register in the bar. Having found someone, I was ushered back to reception to complete registration. The rooms are good, and the cost reasonable. The restaurant, which is open for lunch and dinner is typical country pub food at reasonable price. You would have to find an alternate venue for breakfast, luckily ther e are nearby cafe's and bakeries that would fulfill this need. You also cannot check-out in normal fashion, as the place does not open until noon-(would be good if the web-site mentioned this!). This is all manageable of course, if foretold.

I booked this hotel based on how economical it was, I expected a pub room and was delighted to find a large comfortable room with everything I needed. Bed was comfortable, air conditioning was clean, carpets soft, bathroom clean with plenty of hot water. Restaurant also offered great food - beef cheeks and mashed potato and sticky date pudding just what I needed on a cold winters night.

Great location with excellent views of the river. Hotel provides great meals and nice and cold drinks. There is a walking track along the river to get some exercise. The town bakeries are only a short walk away.

Great little hotel. Rooms are not fancy but they are spacious and have everything you need. Bed is comfortable. No tea and coffee but they have a restaurant and you can walk to a number of caffs. Had dinner in their restaurant and the food was sad unless you ordered chicken.

Got to hotel at midday lady at bar wasn't Intrested basically said co.e back at 2pm and completely understand that's check in time but asked if any room was available she said maybe but check in is out 2pm . So basically didn't want to help out at all. Then we paid for a queen room and bed was actually a double. Room was clean and ok for a night or 2 but staff we dealt with were rude.|Had dinner in bistro the young lady with coloured hair at counter was very nice and bubbly . Food was fresh but very small serves for a pub meal. We had fresh fish and was very fresh but 2 tiny pieces for $28.|We travel alot for work and pleasure and will need to go back to this town fair few times for work but won't be booking any of our employees here and won't recommend to anyone as the staff apart from 1 were rude and had no customer service skills at all.

Beautiful Building. Walking Distance to the Town. Low Head Lighthouse and Penguin Walk a very short drive away. Enjoyed Staying Here.

A neat and tidy motel in a quiet nice location by the river. The restaurant delivers what you would expect from a typical pub meal. Check in was problematic after an issue with their online system. They sorted it out and our stay was pleasant.

A dinner out with family, we waited 50 minutes for food, was served flat sparkling wine and the “handmade ravioli” was 100% from the grocery store- very disappointing for $24. Be honest on your menu!

Accommodation in George Town is limited so The Pier Hotel is usually a second choice. While the rooms are clean, tidy and the beds comfortable they are in need of an up-date, in particular the bathrooms. Reception is not constantly manned nor is there a bell to alert anybody. If service is required you are advised to walk to the lounge bar for assistance. Free Wi-Fi is not an option to be relied on; it is slow and often not available. A portable modem or purchase an internet connection is the best option if you want to stay connected. We have mixed reviews of the restaurant from a number of visits. Based on menu prices, the expectation of quality, presentation and taste are higher than for a standard pub meal and unfortunately that is not always so. Sometimes the meals represent value for money as they should, other times they do not. My wife ordered Osso Bucco, a dish that requires slow cooking in preparation for between 2-4 hours, so it falls off the bone. What was served was under cooked, tough and inedible. We didn't complain or notify staff as it would have been clear, if they were observant seeing a virtually untouched meal that something was wrong? While the staff in general are friendly, some need training/retraining in the skills required for the hospitality industry as at no time, did anyone bother to ask during or after the meal, if we enjoyed it?
