Coniston Hotel Wollongong

We stayed here based on reviews and they were spot on. For $217 the family room, 2 big single beds and 1 king, 2 bathrooms was a bargain for this level of accom!! There is a door you can either keep open or close to separate the rooms. Good amount of space in the room. Quiet as they installed glazed windows and the curtains provide full blockout. Huge tvs in both room. ||The whole hotel is beautifully remodelled - fresh and light. The bistro in another part of the hotel served us delicious meals. Dinner closes at 8.30pm. We arrived 8pm, the staff were super friendly and helpful. Because the bar area looks after check ins, you can check in till about 10pm. But the bar will close at 9.30pm. This would also be a great place if you have a big group travelling as they will be able to accomodate you in the bistro. ||Room had tea/coffee. They don’t serve breakfast, but we were recommended to head to Diggies which is only 2 mins away. ||This was an EXCELLENT place to stop for one night with our family of 4. |

We stayed for a Saturday night, the room was comfortable, spacious enough with double glazing on the window, this ensured a good nights sleep. The Bar downstairs was great for having a few drinks before the Party we were attending. We would stay again.

We had a family dinner last night. We sat outside but under cover. It was pleasant until we could smell cigarette smoke wafting in from the pokies area at the end of our meal. We were finished anyway. |The wednesday steak special for $20 was really nice, perfectly cooked. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Atmosphere and decor were spot on. Toilets were clean!|Staff were friendly and attentive. |Online membership did not work so unable to get discounts on food or drinks but next time I'll sort it out at the desk or bar.

Took our 3 kids here Saturday - Monday. Lovely place to stay, nice rooms had everything we needed and as soon as you’re in the accommodation area you couldn’t hear a peep from the bistro/bar area.|Lovely service :)

Thanks for providing us with such a wonderful room! We loved staying at the Coniston and I am sure that we will be back again. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, the service was friendly, the location was perfect - WOW!!!!! The only thing missing was breakfast service in the bistro - maybe this might change before our next visit......PLEASE can you open the bistro for breakfast PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of parking. Great food. Friendly staff. Decent sized room. What a fantastic spot for a quick layover on the way down the coast.

It was great value for money. Very comfortable with a great location close to city. Snacks are free from the rooms and there is a great restraunt onsite. Staff are helpful and rooms very clean. Already planning next family getaway.

I stayed overnight for a business trip and I can't fault this place. Right by the train station. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Rooms pristinely clean, quiet, comfortable bed, great shower. Lovely bistro and bar. Would recommend and stay again.

I go there regularly for dinner, also have party's there. It's a great place to eat and relax. The food is not cheap but you get what you pay for. Delicious

I didn't stay there, we just grabbed some dinner there before a show nearby. The meals were pretty good; seafood pasta was good. Only downside was it was very busy and a Wednesday night, so we sat in the beer garden, which was much quieter but smoke kept escaping from the gaming room. However, I'd recommend it, it was a pleasant surprise.

Hotel is part of pub that has pokies and meals. ||Rooms are very modern and are accessed from seperate area to main pub. Parking is part of the main pub parking.||Staff were all welcoming and professional and check in was seamless with all necessary information provided. Rooms that were upstairs are accessed either by stairs or elevator. Room are very modern looking and are clean and spacious enough. Good wi-fi, and you can't knock having a couple of Tim-tams as the complimentary biscuits. ||Did not use any facilities of the pub. There was no noticeable noise or distractions from the pub area or patrons and bed was comfortable resulting in a good nights sleep.||Would have no hesitation recommending this hotel or staying here again if in the area.

Great affordable accommodation option that was used for a trip to the Gong for a UOW graduation ceremony overnighter. With the double whammy of uni graduations and school holidays, accomm prices were through the roof in downtown Woollongong. Thankfully the Conniston Hotel offered a generously sized family suite (2 rooms, interconnected with 2 bathrooms) at a great price. The rooms have been recently renovated and are nicely decorated, with ample tea/coffee/hot choc and the Tim Tams were a nice touch! The dinner at the bistro downstairs was top notch. Huge portions and very nicely cooked food. Chicken schnitty with chips and veg was well received along with mushroom gravy on the side. Good honest pub grub and there was nothing left on the plate! Staff were friendly. Free parking im adjoining lot. Room was very quiet but it was a Tuesday night and it did overlook a beer garden so your results might vary on a Friday or Saturday night.

Frankly, the Coniston Hotel is unprepossessing from the street. However, inside the rooms were well appointed, scrupulously, clean and comfortable. Downstairs, in the hotel itself, staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate at the bistro and were pleasantly surprised at the high standard, the presentation and the quality, it’s not the Hyatt Regency, but a recommended option for Wollongong. Don’t be dissuaded by the appearance from the street!

First up - the positives. The rooms are quite nice indeed and the beds great. Cleaning is good too. ||The main issue I have with this place is that it is right above a pub. I did not know that when I booked. It seemed like a boutique hotel. Night 1 (Saturday) I was kept up until 330 AM as the music was so loud I could hear it through earplugs. I went down to talk to staff and they did apologise but did not do anything like turn the music down as it was for a 21st. The next night was quieter but I was kept up by people coming and going at all hours. Next night was a crying baby and people opening and shutting doors at 1230 then 330AM. The hallway doors are not soundproofed unfortunately. My ;last night had me woken at 0500 by a crying baby next door then a lovely delivery of kegs below my room with crashing and banging. I did not had a good sleep here and this place is totally unsuited to a good night's rest. It's in a not so great area and is a great spot if you want to get drunk at the pub and stay here, but is not at all recommended for families or those on business. It's also quite far from town. ||The accommodation business is also a secondary concern/not prioritised. I was greeted by an empty check-in desk and had to go and find someone at the bar to help. They did not think moving my room was a good idea when I complained of the noise as they told me it would be noisy in all rooms. ||I had a balcony room but there was not much to recommend as no real views except of the road, increased noise exposure and there is not much privacy - you can see onto adjacent balcony.||All in all, just be aware of where you are staying. If you're looking for a quiet night and are a light sleeper/value peas and quiet, this is not your place. I left early to find somewhere else nicer so I could sleep. They did not refund me.

Do not be dissuaded by the unprepossessing view of the hotel from the street. Inside, the rooms are well appointed comfortable and scrupulously clean. All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful The bistro food was a pleasant surprise - well prepared, and well presented. it’s not the Hyatt Regency, but the Coniston Hotel is a recommended option for Wollongong.

Dissapointed to give 2 star for service and this is no reflection on front bar staff they are amazing ,however pokie room attendant is rude abrupt and myself and friends won't go in when this person is working very unfriendly. I walk out immediately when they start . I'm not a drunk or abusive in anyway ,complained to front bar and left . I like going to pub but know why it's so quiet in there !

Customer service has definitely improved and the receptionist was kind enough to accept a late check-out request considering we were traveling as a family. Accommodation always impresses me. Very clean, comfortable and in a quiet location.

Called in for just a quick lunch. OMG the food was fabulous. Not just pub grub. I had the salmon with Thai green curry. That meal could have been served to me at a top restaurant! Nice atmosphere, clean, friendly staff.

Booked in by work. So pleasantly surprised room was great and the food was some of the best pub food I ever had. Congrats to all

Booked a night here on the 19th December with my partner and we weren’t allowed to stay because we are “locals” they never let any websites know of this. We asked for a refund and they couldn’t give it to us straight away because we had to call the company we booked off. After we spoke to the company they then contacted the hotel so they could get us a refund. We still have not gotten a refund. Do not stay here! They took our money when we weren’t even allowed to stay!

Best value for money in my book. Room we stayed in was superb. Staff very friendly and helpful. Whoever runs this place knows how to run a great establishment.

Best place we stay 4 nights great food great service good pokies train station across the road went in to Sydney for the day Jamberoo 20min away we can't wait to go back 😀 😊

Amazing friendly and helpful staff, brilliant rooms, so clean and comfortable and well prepared for guests. Bistro was fantastic with a great selection of meals. We had lunch and ended up going back for dinner. The food was great value and delicious. Great location right across the road from the train station or walk 1 km into Wollongong. Definitely will come back and will be recommending this place to our family and friends..

After the initial hiccup with the mix up of rooms, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, staff were very accommodating with regard to meals in bistro.

5 star hotel with amazing clean rooms. Good size. Bistro had a range of food items to choose from and taste delicious. If I had to nitpick - don’t like the Manuka honey toiletries 🧴
