Where to start... the location is close to both buses and trains. Staff is young and energetic. Easy way to order, either from the counter or straight from your phone. Food is really good and portions are fair. Happy dogs running around. Outdoor and indoors seatings. Great selection of tap beer.. I'm just describing heaven!!!

When I told some friends I was giving my first 2 star review to the Courthouse Hotel for a shocking parmi, they simply exclaimed "You don't go to the Courthouse for food". They were right.

This is my fourth visit here and probably the last one. When ordering online, the menu listed "egg" for the burger, but it turned out to be a sauce. Because it was written as "egg," I didn't understand, so I went to the bar to order face-to-face. The tall guy at the bar was very rude. My boyfriend doesn't speak much English, and the bartender, who speaks perfect English, acted arrogantly and laughed condescendingly. He might have been upset that we interrupted his conversation with a customer he seemed to know. If he continues to treat customers this way, the restaurant will lose more customers.
I must say, however, that the burger was delicious. Kudos to the kitchen team. Thank you.

This is an awesome bar. Apart from being the home of AFL in Sydney, it's a great hang out at all times. Today it's The Ashes and cold beers. The tap selection is amazing

The courthouse is my favourite venue! My favourite staff members of all time are Em and Jack. They made my experience at the courthouse so memorable and I believe they should be given raises! What a glorious bunch. Can’t wait to be back for pool, jugs, and burgers. LOVE THE COURTY XX

spacious but busy pub in Newtown regardless any day of the week. u can order with QR and it's easy. sometimes it's faster to queue up for drinks. dog friendly.

Perfect pet friendly pub. Great trivia and weekly activities, amazing for a weeknight or weekend drink. Out of this world glass stacking. Come for the people, stay for the cheap beer of the month.

Not enough bar staff and the staff that are working are incredibly slow. Other than that, the place is good. We booked a table. The food was nice. Nothing too exciting but presented well. I buy bottles of bubbles and their range was quite expensive. I spose the place caters more for beer drinkers.

Not a bad place for a beer but the food is so pathetic, this is a $25 'fried chicken' burger. girl that's a chicken nugget in some bread :')

Love this place! Originally came for their cheesy delicious nachos and ended up loving everything, many beer options, grays staff and environment, plenty of space indoors & outdoors dog friendly, smoking area, is just perfect all you need!

Last weekend, my close friends and I decided to switch things up a bit by finding a new spot to hang out, and we ended up choosing the Courthouse Hotel in Newtown. Honestly, I've never felt more spot-on with a decision!The vibe there was just so chill and comfortable, almost like stepping into a whole different world. We settled in and started ordering beers. Oh man, every beer we tried was unexpectedly delicious. I'm not exactly a beer aficionado, but the varieties here made me want to keep exploring.Another big plus was the staff. No matter how busy they got, their warmth and attentiveness never waned. They joined in on our jokes and laughter, adding to the cozy atmosphere.And I can't skip talking about the food - from appetizers to main courses, everything was a hit. The beefsteak, in particular, was tender and flavorful in a way that was simply memorable.

It's a nice pub with a good vibe and I've been coming here regularly for 15 years, but was a bit put off by increases in food prices. $35 for a steak with chips OR salad. Yep, not both. Either or. Add chips, another $13. Seemed a bit wild to me when most pubs in the area will chuck some chippies on the plate with the salad. Salad was leaves and a tiny bit of cucumber.

I love the beer garden/outdoor dining area. The wedges were really good! And they gave me tomato sauce alongside the sour cream and sweet chilli sauces.

Great steaks, cooked to perfection.
The pinball machines are a lot of fun, took a little while to get in sync with the games (but eventually had some 15+ minute games on there).
Will definitely be back!

Great pub with arguably the best courtyard in Newtown, but the food has gone downhill recently. If you're paying $30 for a parma it should be at least half-decent. Mine was spongey and the chicken fillet had a 'fake' texture.

Great pub in Newtown for a great feed. Lots of beers on tap that are absolutely delicious and kind staff all around. Highly recommend!

Great dog friendly pub which is seriously FUN to be at for a group catch up. Food staff are brilliant & quick. Front bar staff are always friendly - only reco is for some of them to be a bit faster when they can (I’m not always fast enough myself, but there are sometimes when people do expect faster movement - 4 lines of 5 people need to be serviced quickly - I’ve learned that recently & I do know how exhausting it is, hopefully you’ll get more staff soon). A very safe & happy pub to have a group day at 👏🏼👍🏼✅🎉. Hopefully every pub in Sydney will be dog friendly soon 🤩🐕🐕🐕

Food is garbage but the thing that annoys me the most is how slow the bartenders are. When I was bartender it was common sense to serve people fast but these bartenders make it pretty clear they hate working there. I think management needs to do a lot of work to improve the culture of the pub as it's pretty clear that they would make more money if beers were poured faster

Don’t bother coming in 30-45 minutes before venue close, can’t even get a drink or allowed inside to sit with mates. Venue closure is advertised 10pm on Sundays but realistically it is 9:30pm unlike any hospo venue that does last drinks 15-30 minutes before close.

came here to watch the NRL Las Vegas matches however they didn’t have the volumes on for the games so ended up leaving. Additionally the chicken schnitzel was pretty uninspiring, defs frozen which is fine but at least get it from a better supplier!

Came down to watch the footy, had a nice bowl of chilli con queso and ran out of corn chips, the manager was lovely and assisted with bringing more to us. Nice atmosphere, great service

A wonderful somewhat hidden pub with a large outdoors seating area!! Great vibes and even has a little arcade! They've got some yummy food selections as well!

Awesome pub in Newtown, a tad smaller but very homely. The outdoor garden is an awesome place to be. Super dog friendly, treats even on the menu!
Great food, I got the crispy skin salmon and it was utter perfection! Came with a tomato medley and side salad. The wedges are also perfection. Great portions for everything. Epic parma’s too.

Awesome courtyard and great vibe but the food and staff are perpetually awful. Change the menu up, introduce some quality options and tell the staff to stop being so rude and it would be perfect.

A Newtown institution, the Courthouse courtyard is a great spot to sit on a sunny day or warm evening, and the older interior pub is small but charming if you can ignore the pokies at the entrance. This place is often very busy, being well located and dog-friendly. I'm typically not a fan of the QR code ordering, but in a place as large as this, it is actually much easier than queuing at the bar.
