We were one of only two tables in the restaurant (I wonder why) 🤔. Service was good but the food was awful. I ordered a chicken schnitzel (first one ever) and it was terrible. Deep fried and dry, with broccoli that was going off (I.e. yellow at the ends). A lot of the menu wasn't available and it felt like they were trying to offload old food to the few of us that ate there.
Won't be going back. There are so many good pubs in Newcastle so why bother with one that doesn't deliver?

We had a retirement function in outdoor pavilion space last night. Great night and really good food. We had lots of canapés, finger food dropped regularly around the group, lots of options. Meatballs were amazing and great cheese and meat platters. The vegan options were also fantastic!
Staff very accomodating and friendly. Great night thank you!

We had a great pub style feed here that we really enjoyed! I had the rump steak which was cooked well as a medium steak, was tasty, tender and juicy.
My daughter got the Hawaiian Schnitzel and it was twice as big as her face!
Chips can make or break a pub meal and the chips were quality! Some pubs serve a token salad but the salad was quality too, with sliced purple cabbage and a good dressing.
The atmosphere of the pub was really nice. It is well decorated and furnished, clean and doesn't smell of stale beer.
They had a good selection of beers on tap too and I enjoyed a cold schooie of Little Creatures Pale Ale with my meal.

We decided to have lunch here today. The food was fantastic overall and whilst a little pricey, it was worth the money. The building in general need some major renovations - toilet cubicles with no door locks, hand dryer not working, cracks in walls, etc and dirty small plates on tables. Overall, if your after food, I would highly recommend.

Vege burger was dry, tasteless and as tough as old boots. Totally inedible. Should be less than 1 star. Very disappointing.

Today was the second time we’ve enjoyed a great meal at the Cricketers. Our host, Tim made some great recommendations both times & they did not disappoint. Great food, definitely above & beyond usual pub food, great, personalised service & good value. We will take others next time…

The service, and the staff are great.
The musical bingo host every thursday is just amazing and lovely 😍. Definitely you will have fun for the musical bingo !

Really average food. Spinner crab and prawns that seemed to only be prawns with san remo pasta and a dolmuo sauce.

Needed to host a function last minute and the cricketers came in clutch with their out door beer garden (is largely covered if it rains). Perfect for medium-large sized groups. Food menu is extensive. Drinks are not cheap but standard prices.

Love the Cricketer's! Great food, awesome beer on tap, relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The beer garden and inside are modern and clean - great place for groups as well

Just had their $15 lunch special chicken schnitzel. That was embarrassing - i had 2 x bites, left it and walked out. If that’s all u can provide for $15, don’t serve it, i’de rather pay $30 and get a decent meal that doesn’t look like it’s been cooked from the frozen foods section of coles.

I’ve come here to experience the punters club although it’s a small group they have a lot of fun
I want this to be my local so I’m gonna have to find somewhere nearby to live
The publicans are wonderful and so are a good few of the regular drinkers
I absolutely love it here
The pub is so good the police room is empty

I have been here before and the meal and the services was great. This time I found it a bit disappointing. Snitzels were burnt. Meals were forgotten.
Would still give it another go.

Had lunch there 17/3/24. Friendly staff and service. Food ok. Sadly the ambience was ruined by the barking dog in the bar area. This may help explain why the place was empty. Won’t be back.

Great menu and lunch was delicious. Kids meals come with free ice cream (forgot the photo of the fish and chips). Loved that the kids meal came out quickly while ours was being cooked.

Great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff. Absolute value for your dollar with the great lunchtime menu. Recommend the lunch menu, look forward to trying the dinner sitting.

Glad to catch the first AFL final and enjoy a delicious crunchy chicken Parma with ham and cheese @TheCricketersArmsHotel. Love the chips too. Filling meal.

Do yourself a favor and go somewhere that is worth, money you spend !!
First of all their kitchen was a mess
it seems they really don't care about Cross contamination or know what it means transfer of microbes or other unwanted material from one thing to another.
And $15 Lunch Special was a special surprise to us!
it was kind of robbery!
Very small portion plate and "half" skinny chicken breast , very small chips and almost half rotten salad ! it was disgrace !

burger and beer special on Thursday is a good deal. The person who took our order said on multiple occasions that it was any tap beer to go with the burger. The older fellow behind the bar would only serve us the cheapest beer (tiger) and was very rude to myself and my friends.

Boring over cooked food ,be aware that the online menu is different from the actual menu. Very disappointing, there's so many great pubs in Newcastle and this definitely isn't one of them ! Don't waste your time or $$$

Attended a function here last night and the service and food was first class. Wonderful attentive staff and terrific atmosphere. Has always been a great pub but the new management have it better than ever.

A really nice pub to enjoy a Sunday roast dinner, share a wine or have a beer or two with the friendliest wait and bar staff.
