When the footy is on can be difficult to find parking, food a bit pricey but usually good quality staff very good...

We were a group of 7 and all were super impressed with our meals. They came super fast and in very generous serves. Will definitely continue to return to the Cross Keys.

We had a birthday party held in the lounge with about 90 guests. The lead up to the event was perfect, shout out to Erica for helping organising everything. We had early access to the room so we were able to provide our own decorations and cakes. We provide Erica with a USB of a slideshow which she prepared readiness for the night and ran perfectly.
The service provided by the 2 girls on the night was again perfect and they even packed up the decorations and cakes and said we were welcome to go back the next day and pick up which we did.
It was such a fun event all we did was virtually turn up and left when it had finished.
The timing was from 7pm to 12.30am which was just right.
The finger food was amazing and packed up the leftovers for us to take home.
I would definitely be recommending this venue to my friends and family for future events.
Thank you Cross Keys for making my birthday a very memorable time.

Visited the Bistro last week for dinner.
Ordered the Fish and Chips $35. The serving of chips was barely enough (probably 10 chips in total).
The piece of fish was equivalent to 2 fingers wide and approx. 12 cm long (approx. 5 inches), accompanied by a small serving of salad. It was more like a senior’s meal. I’d be interested to see the tiny serving size of the senior’s fish and chips if my meal was considered a full size meal.
This meal was definitely NOT WORTH $35. Please do not order this, as you will be disappointed.
It’s value would be about $8-$10 at most.
What made matters worse, was that my dining partner ordered the exact same meal of fish and chips and was served 3 pieces of fish and a large serving of chips. Obviously no quality control. I should have asked for a refund, as I was definitely not happy and still hungry when I left the bistro.
A pity I did not take a comparison photo of the 2 meals, as proof, to present to the management. I felt like asking for a refund but could not see any management on the night.
Needless to say, my group will not return to the Cross Keys, unless of course, the manager is able to offer a complimentary replacement meal.

Thanks for your reply, however, it sounds most insincere. Your reply is the stock standard reply that you send to all reviewers who experience negative experiences. I don't believe any remedial action is being taken by management.

Traditional pub restaurant in a very established old hotel. But the food is good, delivered unpretentiously as a full hearty meal.

This hotel is usually good, but tonight the food was ordinary. I had the Mushroom and Chicken Risotto and it had thick slices of Parmesan on top and the meal was far too salty. The chicken pieces were too big and dry.
Our other meal was the corned beef which was good and mash was delicious, however there was too much cabbage and no greens.

The meals at this hotel are always hit and miss. I’ve tried one too many times to give it a second chance due to proximity. The chicken Parma is always dry and over cooked and vegetables are often under cooked. I’m done with its inconsistency.

Strange review... I've tried to go to The Cross Keys Hotel 3 times now on Sundays.. Each time i can't get a carpark because the soccer is on in the park next door.. Zero spots available each time...

Nice quiet atmosphere, clean array of areas and polite, helpful staff members.. however the allround menu and beverages are way too expensive (not mentioning the extravagant cocktail or specials menu) to consider as a regular family night out. (Eg; 2mins away the $4 per drink difference is very noticeable when purchasing for a group of 5 or more but thankfully water is available upon request)

My Chicken Parma was unedable. I told the server, and they offered to make me another one, but I was afraid it would make me sick if I ate it. So I just ate the chips and salad. (NO OFFER OF A REFUND )

Monday $25 pasta night - your choice of four different pastas or risotto off the main menu.
Got the Seafood Marinara. If you love garlic, this is garlic heaven. A tasty balanced dish with the confit garlic notes coming through nicely.
The mussels and salmon were overcooked whilst the prawns, gummy shark, calamari and clams were perfectly cooked.
Friendly and polite service. Well portioned for the price. Order and pay at the counter. Family friendly.

I've eaten here many times purely for the convenience of the half-decent kid's play area that's within view from part of the dining area.
The food here *can* be very good.
The pricing here is the sour point.
The menu suggests that they are not trying to target a demographic expecting cheap pub meals. However, when the quality of the dishes are inconsistent and there is a lack of table service, it can be quite hard to swallow the cost of a stock chicken burger at around $25. That being said, I've also had an excellent steak for ~$33... hence my point on *consistency*. Coupled with the long wait times when it does get busy, it is difficult to score this place any more than three stars. If the meals were consistently better it would definitely be deserving of four stars.

Had dinner here tonight mushroom Risotto which I have had before but this time absolutely terrible. No taste wrong mushrooms to many of them To much gteen Onion And what looked like carrot was thick and gluggy then had some thin strips of some sort of cheese instead of Parmesan which made it worse

For years a great place.
But! today, my lamb cutlets were burnt and hidden by the gravy bowl until it was too late to say anything.
And, we did NOT appreciate being given 20 minutes notice that “they want the table back”. Evidently to prepare for dinner, at 3.00 pm!!!!! This should have been made clear when booking!
Other hotels don’t do this, eg at Pascoe Vale hotel there are no time restrictions.

Excellent place for a feed, large servings and reasonably priced especially if your old enough for the senior specials.
A large parking area in the rear, separate smoking area for those that still indulge and separate kids area with toys to keep the parents happy.

Definitely one of the better pubs in terms of food, service and atmosphere. I would say it's more on the 4 1/2 star rating as I found queuing up to place food orders during a Sunday lunch rush can be quite chaotic with a long line snaking around the tables and the poor wait staff having to weave and dodge around patrons while juggling full plates of food. Other than that most of the staff especially the young lady powering through the food orders at the registers were lovely, patient and thorough. Food was mostly classic pub fare but done right. The dining area was quite spacious, well lit, clean and with good air-conditioning. Great place for large families and groups to have a casual catch up over food and drinks.

Amazing meal sizes. I had the lamb shanks and couldn't finish them (the cheesy garlic bread didn't help though 🙃)

4-7-2023 Very nicely laid out pub with friendly ambience in the bistro and the sports bar. Service is very good, prices are reasonable. Seniors menu variety is excellent with great menu prices for seniors. Drinks are reasonable, comparative prices. The chicken schnitzel and the scotch steak were somewhat tough, but still edible. Food could have been hotter. Would recommend this place to people, and would eat here again.

1st time I have ever had to send a meal back and I wasn’t the only one. Got full refund but paid for my additional meal as felt that was only fair. The lady was fantastic, service was extremely quick and sticky date to die for. Would go again just order something different
