With our stay in Lilydale we had a few meals at the Crown hotel and every one was great. Recommend you give them a try.

When you order an Aussie Parmi.
You don't expect a snitzel with a strip of Bacon and an egg on top.
It's NOT a parmi as advertised in the menu.
Over cooked. Chicken was dry.
Will never go back.

We were recommended this hotel from the caravan park we were staying at and had a buy one get one free deal in conjunction between the hotel and caravan park, you are given coupons to claim your discount, its all about loyalty and driving customers to participation businesses.
It was Easter Saturday there was no small print on the coupons saying they couldn't be used during the Easter break even the caravan park didn't mention this when they handed us the discount coupons, however we got mixed messages once at the hotel, the first guy were question can the coupons be used he looked at them and said no problem, different story when trying to use them ordering food I was told they cant be used on any public holiday, I only went to this hotel because of the deal taking a group of 6 with me, we did stay there and ordered meals but a little disappointed at the lack of information between caravan park and hotel staff, once ordered and payed for I noticed an extra $5 charge on my invoice and questioned this I was told is a 15% surcharge for public holiday, this was not conveyed anywhere on the menu or mentioned prior, I don't mind paying a surcharge it would have just been nice to be informed prior to purchase.
The food was good and reasonably priced staff friendly and would recommend eating here.
I give a 4 star rating for the good food and service but loosing 1 star from miscommunication and confusion with staff knowledge and not being transparent with charges and discounts.

We went in for a bistro meal but on seeing the price difference (which wasn't slight) we decided to head into the bar for the same meal 1/2 the price. The staff were friendly and kept things neat and tidy and the meals were really good. We will be back but for the bar prices, it'll be to the bar

We went for dinner on a cold winter evening and the Crown hotel was very pleasant, the service was excellent, food great quality and value. It was a warm inviting atmosphere.

Went for lunch today. Had the Parma with avocado and hollandaise sauce.
Sharron was our hostess for lunch and I am so impressed, an elderly gentleman came in an Sharron bought over a more comfortable chair for him. (What excellent service & care)

We haven’t been here for over a year since a family member was diagnosed with coeliac disease and knowing that Coeliac’s are tricky to cater for when eating out. We haven’t really been out to eat due to this but a birthday dinner was the reason.
But……the supervisor in the bistro was amazing and went beyond for us with the chef to cater for the coeliac family member. She feasted on a delicious plate of garlic prawns, confidently knowing the chef and the supervisor were all over it and were cautious. Even letting the girl know, who took our order to put coeliac next to the coeliac order and then double confirming with the chef that it was all good.
The rest of us enjoyed Parma and Thai beef salad.
I feel so confident in returning to the bistro with my coeliac family member and being able to enjoy a meal without fear.
Thank you. We had delicious meals and a beautiful night.
Kudos to the chef and the supervisor.

We have been here several times now and feel the staff let the venue down! The food is very tasty and cooked and presented well but the staff are not very capable. They all need more training in communications skills and need to learn to SMILE!!!!!!!

We had dinner here on Thursday 13th October. I had a seniors seafood basket which I was disappointed with. Frozen packet fish is not enjoyable when you go out.
I would like to commend the young man & girl working the kitchen & tables. Friendly and efficient. The girl working behind the bar, when you go to help with the table settings, PLEASE DO NOT handle the tops of the cutlery with your unloved hands. Very unhygienic.

We had a booking for a meeting this week to be followed by lunch. The hotel chose to double up on the bookings and left our elderly group who were on walkers, wheelchairs and using walking sticks standing in a corridor with no seats for 3/4 hour absolutely disgusting behaviour on the part of Crown. We were unable to hold our meeting for which some of us travelled over 1/2 hour to attend. No apology or anything, they even locked the door so we could not enter. We were treated terribly.

We are regulars at this establishment. Here today (Tues, Jan 22) - my husband's birthday and the fabulous staff here have decorated our customary table with lights, a happy birthday sign and all the staff wished him Happy Birthday! Way below average. My partner ordered a roast of the day with chips on the side and it came out just meat and chips, no veggies. Waitresses were quite rude and unhelpful and he never got his veggies. The place was not at all busy and yet we waited nearly 45min for poor quality food

Visiting area on work trip and stayed just up the road. Great older style pub in front bar and nice restaurant area at the back. Friendly and talkative staff. Have all pokies downstairs, but being from Western Australia we don't have pokies so have no interest in wasting money on them...

Visited for a late dinner on 6/3/21 Saturday night; we had no booking but we were accommodated.. Our female server (No name badge) was lovely and extremely quick to get a table ready for us. I ordered the swordfish, presentation was below average. I cut into it and noticed it was black inside. I could not eat it. My friend had a steak, which was also below standard, but was edible, at least. Very expensive, for poor dining experience.

Very rude staff, especially the horrible woman and bar guy. Worst pub and service i have ever had, this woman should not be in customer service. Wouldn't give this place one star but had to, to submit this review. Had a knife pulled on us here.would not reccomend at all.

Unfortunately members night is pretty boring, apart from the pokies the members draws are not. frequent enough so you wait patiently till 9pm, I am by no means the only member that has talked openly about the night, PS on a lighter note the food is great in the restaurant, hats off to the Chef

Took over an hour fir my meal. Others in the table waited longer, one got hers within about 10 minutes.
Ordered prawn and chorizo risotto. Counted two prawns and three bits of sausage which could be loosely uncalled chorizo.
Fluffy rice and total disorganisation with respect to food delivery.
A less than average place in which to dine.

Took my father his sister and sister in-law back to the Crown Hotel where his parents ran the pub for 12 years in the 70’s. It was an absolute credit to the current owner for the fantastic refurbishment and condition the Hotel was in, the meals and staff were excellent. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience which bought back many memories.

Took an hour for a seafood basket by the time we got it, it was cold as ice and we could see the waitresses laughing, was gonna ask for my money back but the waitress quickly grabbed my plate and stormed off

The staff were very good but the quality of the Christmas lunch served was very underwhelming.
For any bistro to serve up a pre-frozen peas and corn combination is really disgraceful. The least you should expect is fresh vegetables cooked from scratch.
The pork and turkey were rather tasteless and frankly hard to tell apart. Also the plum puddings looked like the individual ones you can buy in a supermarket. Obviously not made on the premises.
Too many shortcuts were taken.

The staff behind the bar and in the bistro are wonderful and it's obvious they love their jobs, as they are all so friendly, especially Tommo and Jackie. It's their smiling faces that make me keep coming back.

The staff are very friendly and there was a good range available on both the main and seniors menu. The food was very good and with generous proportions. Parking at the rear was plentiful, however entrance through the front door is necessary to avoid a significant stairway via the pokies room.

The organisation, presentation, food and service was great for our family function. Huge thanks to Kim for working so professionally and brilliantly with my parents in organising their 80th birthdays with family in the verandah function room. Justine was super organised, helpful, friendly and efficient on the day making it a great experience for all.

Terrible establishment. Incredibly rude staff, with poor manners and communication skills. Very immature in response to patrons complaints and unwilling to take any feedback. I encourage you to go else where if you prefer a side of manners with your meal.

So the bar is doing a promo on Canadian club, great. But........here’s the catch. You no longer get a members discount on the product.
Is that not a deterrent rather than promoting.
As a former bar manager of a city centre pub in Glasgow this has me utterly perplexed. Regardless of what terms and conditions, I’d have refused to run it. Customer comes first.
Not some company looking for free advertising and endorsements.
Absolute shame on whoever gave this the go ahead.

Pleasantly surprised by Crown Hotel. Thought it was just a sports pub but the restaurant has a nice atmosphere - although still has TVs playing games which some people like! Good was good for the normal pub restaurant prices.
Service wasn't great but otherwise could be worth a visit.
Big pokie machine area if you like that sort of thing!

Owners Favorite makes you feel sorry for him/her. He/she must suffer from a meager develloped sense of taste. The fried egg on top was probably created at a quarter past nine a.m. while the bacon not much later was emerged in hot fat. At 18.00 hours both were dry and dehydrated, so they reached nearly the state of "not qualified for human consumption". Chips were fine, so that makes it 2 stars.

Our family have been going to The Crown for years we even had my dad's 80th there. Always enjoyed the meals and atmosphere, until now. The last 2 times I've been for lunch the meals were terrible. I had the potato salad which was acceptable and last week the mango salad. So disappointed as I chose this because I thought the mango would be refreshing. Unfortunately, there was no mango! The salad consisted of half a dozen small prawns a few cherry tomatoes and a bag of spinach for $30!!

Ordered the Crown burger that was meant to have lettuce, tomato and pickles with an Angus pattie with a burger sauce and chips.
Didn't get the lettuce tomato and pickles and the sauce was just ordinary tomato sauce.
26 dollars for a burger with a pattie bacon and egg sucks.
Also couldn't believe they had painters working in the Bistro during service.
Doubtful if I will go back.

Lunch yesterday was very disappointing food wise. Partner had the Porterhouse which was chewy and fatty. His response was "worst steak I've ever had". I had the Seafood Basket. It tasted like it had come from the freezer section of Coles. Tasteless and overcooked. My grandson had the burger which he enjoyed. Very disappointing. Sorry, we won't be going back.

Lunch on the 8th of Feb we had the potato and leek soup. Tasted nothing like potato and leek. Very bland. Carbonara was so much liquid and tasted terrible. Staff were friendly.

I was at the Crown Hotel for a friend's 80th Birthday Party. We had lunch and I had the Seafood Basket & Salad, it was really delicious food. I would recommend it to everyone if they're looking for a fair priced meal. They also have a Senior Menu. There is a carpark at the rear of the hotel, so you don't need to park on the main road (Maroondah Highway) and it was a lovely day.

It was ok, calamari entree could have had a bit more cooking, it was yellow not golden.
The chips were different, and under cooked, yellow not gold, and actually didnt even try them, they are a 2mm slice curved to a v shape, I first though they were wedges.
The calamari was so soft and tasty, enjoyed it, but just cook a minute or 2 longer would have been tops.
The fish n chips main, was a big serve, it was good, if you enjoy a thick batter.

I really enjoyed my meal. Porterhouse Steak, was delicious.
But the star was their special Crown bbq grave. It was excellent with bacon, mushrooms and worcestershire sauce flavour. I really enjoyed it and it was a bit of fun instead of the usual gravies.

I go there on a regular basis for instance Tues is trivia night where some or several of us get together have a meal have a drink and join in answering the quizzes so we can win which if we have my girlfriends brother we usually win. We thoroughly enjoy ourselves as we all have fun and most of the teams we know as most are locals. You can collect points when you become a member at crown hotel, if you have enough points you can either redeem for meal or drink(s) or save for a special occasion is what do.
They have a room upstairs for hire for special occasions. The staff are always wanting to help you if you have any questions or issue's, they are always happy and friendly is what most people want these days. If you do decide to come welcome and have fun there.

I am sorry to report that the Crown Hotel is a shadow of it's former self in my opinion, once the best pub in the district with the dinning room serving high quality meals, today unfortunately this is not case as we experienced. Our meals were at best described as "basic & lacklustre" in flavour & presentation. The dinning room & decor is also somewhat out dated and uninviting hence I would suggest that the $15 Tradie Lunch special advertised on the front window should be a guide to set your expectations by. FYI the staff saved the day with friendly, prompt service & a beer cold to help wash down my pretty ordinary meal... it would appear that the focus today is on the gaming room & not on dinning experience what a shame...

Waitress was very help ask if i would like another one I said no , she then offered me a dessert I didnt want anymore food so she offered me another drink so i got a free beer she was very helpful.

First time visiting here and will absolutely be coming back.
By far the best "pub" meal we have had in as long as I can remember. The food was all fresh and well cooked, we enjoyed a steak sandwich, parma (probably best we have had in YEARS), nuggets, bruschetta and calamari. Kids meals were huge and came with a drink plus dessert for only $13.
Service was top notch, all attentive, friendly and well versed staff.
Honestly cannot fault our visit at all!

First Time. Happy with the senior's meals, price was the best I've seen actually and the product was as good as our better than any prior senior's meal we've had.
Pub has been refurbished and is quite nice albeit the designer obviously had eclectic tastes. Btw, the service was excellent.

Disappointing waited 2 hrs for a meal even then had to follow up as to where it was ordered buttered chicken but had to change order on advise chef had dropped the chicken Saturday night would not recommend unfortunately

Came for dinner on Sunday and the meals were great and came out quickly. The garlic bread was nice and schnitzel was huge. Spoke to a waitress and told me there was a new head chef. The place seems to have improved quite a bit since I last visited.

Lamb Roast was plentiful on the plate but it had no taste and was extremely chewy,, one steak was still mooing and the other was newked.

As usual very helpful friendly staff. The parma was very nice and massive. Would recommend that you give the opportunity to let the customer decide if they want a full or half one, rather than throwing away what the customer cannot eat. Or allow a doggie bag so one can take it home to our 4 legged friends. We were also told that you were updating your menu today 22nd of June. Hopefully it will be added to your website soon.

After our reservation being lost, staff fitted us in, then proceeded to look after us very efficiently in friendly manner. The food was excellent.
