Worst dining experience.
Went for Mothers Day lunch with family (8 adults, 1child). Meals all ordered with 5 minutes of each other, yet from first to last mains was a 50 minute wait. Meals ordered with chips and salad came out with cookee vegies and chips. One member of the group is vegan. Shortly after ordering their SOLE vegan option they were inforned the kitchen had run out of vegan burgers. The guest went up to speak to the chef, it was agreed a vegan linguine pasta dish could be made up. After waiting over an hour, a waitress was asked to check as everyone else had a meal (half had finished given how far apart the mains were served). Waitress comes back to say no vegan meal. We explained we knew there was no vegan burger but that the chef was making something else up. Staff explained nothing else had been prepared. Then we had to ASK for a refund for a meal we had not received. This used to be a great venue. Not anymore, this family will never go back.

We went for lunch to catch up with friends & family, we've been there before, but this visit was a disaster.
It was a busy day & they were obviously understaffed because we waited over 1 1/2 hours before all our food was served!!
They offered free beers, but we had 2 cars & we had our limit while waiting?????
You can & have done better.

Went to the Cumberland for lunch today. It was wonderful. Fresh and hot food with good sized meals. Great value. The service was very quick and friendly staff. We will be back.

Went for dinner tonight, what an absolute let down!! All meals were average if not awful! Grilled fish was slimy and cold! Scollopini was 3 pieces of rubbery chicken in cream, no flavour just cream!!! Two others with us ordered steak both with seafood sauce which was 2 prawns in again just cream no flavour! Neither cooked even close to what they requested!!! Being busy with wasn’t an excuse tonight because the place was dead!!!

We had lunch at the pub and it did not disappoint. The staff were so friendly and kind. The food was nice and the plate was loaded, you certainly won't go hungry there. The atmosphere was that of a real country pub, I loved it.

The Motel where I stayed recommended the Cumberland Hotel. PLEASE don’t go there for dinner as the steak was so tough the knife couldn’t cut it! The chips were soggy too! And the Staff agreed it didn’t look very appetising when I couldn’t eat the dinner! The manager gave me credit and the motel altered their dining out list. Went to the Railway Hotel instead which was fabulous!! 🍴🍷😃

The meals were below average, the gravy came out stone cold and then they took so long to heat it that the meals were cold before they could be eaten. The kids really enjoyed the frog in the pond and rated it four stars.

The food was lovely. The serves were quite large and very filling. The service from the staff was fantastic they were fun and friendly. Definitely worth the stop.

Scotch fillet steak cooked med rare just the way i like it chips and veg.. fast service reasonably priced

Rare steak cooked rare. A rare occurrence these days. Beautifully tender. A thing of beauty. Good value as well.

Ordered the chicken parma, chicken schnit and gravy & beef lasagne. Bit of a wait for the meals >30mins but good size and good quality pub feed made it worth it. Definitely be back next time we are in Castlemaine

Love this place, I wanted to go there due to the TV series glitch. Great food service was really good, very relaxed and already been back a couple times.

Long story short, huge down pour of rain before we got there. Water had come through into part of the bistro. We were offered a seat right away from it. Ordered Our tea. Was really quick and was bloody beautiful ! Just want to mention the fantastic service of one young girl I didn’t get to ask her name but her service was top quality ! Well done 👌🏽

Lady who served us was grumpy... I asked if the fish was bettered, & relieved a curt reply... went for the burger, which was $25.00, & was overpriced for what it was... the hotel was very "dated", & the atmosphere was ordinary... ok, it was 1pm in the afternoon, but it appears their clientele is the over 75 yo...
The whole menu appeared expensive compared to other pubs we've been to !
The serving staff were quite nice, but the lady behind the counter needs to understand that niceness is essential to having people return !!

I really enjoyed my dinner with the family.
It was perfect the chicken was very tender. And the salad had right amount of salad oil.

Hoped for a decent lunch, but totally disappointed.
Firstly ordered Pad Thai from the menu, no noodles or prawns, and I don’t know what the meat was.
Asked them for what was described on the board, noodles were over cooked , peanuts were stale and the flavour tainted the whole dish.

Great food. A very long wait before it arrived in the basically empty café. Staff friendly but some of the new ones not too well trained. Met up with family who were travelling the same weekend as us, and our paths could cross at Rhe Cumberland, so a great solution.

Dinner today at the bistro.
Had the fried flathead fillet with salad and chips.Also ordered the porterhouse with chips and vegetables.
Both dishes were delicious.
Service was good.
Plenty of car park outside.

Didn't eat here as nobody answered the phone when we tried to call to reserve a table. Sent an email and nobody responded. Ended up going somewhere else.

A very mixed bag. Roast of the day was very good. Plenty of veggies and well cooked, not rock hard like you get in many places. Excellent gravy. The steak was also very good and cooked as requested, although there was quite a lot of unrendered fat on it. Dessert never arrived as they didn't have any! Only advised of this when queried. Refund was quickly offered. The place is not very user friendly if you are using a mobility device. Lots of stairs and little nooks to navigate.

A great example of the Aussie pub. Food was good with decent portions. Prices were reasonable Andy the service was friendly.
