We stayed for a night here. The rooms are older but nice with wooden floors, ensuite bathrooms and plenty of room. The staff of the tavern were wonderful and even sorted out a room switch when I asked for a roll away bed so that we'd have a proper bed each. We didn't eat here as we had plans elsewhere but the menu looked good and the food smelled great.

Stopped in for lunch twice. Generous portions. Good food. Lunch specials worth trying. Will come back when in town.

Spacious room. My. room had aircon, tea and coffee making facilities, and a small supply of juices, cereals for a light breakfast. At night I found the place very quiet for sleeping. To walk to the room you need to walk through the public bar area to the back of the hotel. There is a back door if you don't want to walk through the public bar, but just a little further to get around the Main Street. Plenty of parking at the back too.

No frills but has everything you need. Beds are firm. Great shower (hot and powerful) with nice thick towels. Walk to shops and restaurants or eat/drink at the hotel pub. Clean.

Nice rooms, good shower, pub was pleasant. Out room was next door to the drive thru liquor place so early morning delivery woke us at 630. That was our only fault.

My family and I needed some emergency accommodation earlier this week (to visit the hospice) and we were able to secure a room at the Diggers Tavern - with no idea what to expect. I have to say, it was great - everything you need and nothing you don't! We stayed one night in a twin room and it was absolutely fit for purpose. Large bathroom was a nice surprise too - nice tall shower. Additionally, we grabbed a takeaway bistro meal and it was excellent. I had a curry (which was great) and everyone else finished their meals - which is a good sign. My only comment would be about the tv placement - we could have used it to entertain the kids for a bit, but it was high up the wall and hard for them to see. Minor critique, and I'm sure people smarter than me decided that was the best place for it so... Will stay again if we need to come up that way. Thanks team!

Like others have said this is very comfortable accomodation at a good price. The rooms are quiet and clean and the location is perfect to stroll to lots of restaurants within 2 blocks.

I have stayed at the Diggers on a few occasions, and I can confirm it is always very clean. Bathrooms are clean, the linen is crisp and fresh, and the rooms are fairly spacious and well appointed. The only downside is your vehicles are not terribly secure, pick a room that has good overview of the carpark if you want to keep an eye on your vehicle.

Have stayed there many times. Rooms are always clean and 100% functional. Staff are always friendly and prompt. The meals are above average, generously sized and they know how to safely prepare food for a coeliac!!! the dining room can be busy as it's popular with locals, but waiting times are normal. Thanks Diggers

Have stayed before but…. Called in last minute and Josh was more than happy to help out 2 weary travellers, waited till we arrived after closing to check us in. Rooms were pretty good, but the shower (water pressure & heat) were insanely good. Located in the middle of Bellingen, just right. Cheers.

Great value for money. We called in on Sunday night of long weekend and it was busy. We were watching the kitchen work from our seat and were impressed by their efficiency, the chef was moving fast! Food was delicious, I had the Sunday roast pork with crackling, apple sauce, gravy, roast potato (3 potatoes!), pumpkin and steamed vege (zucchini, carrots, broccoli, beans & peas!!). Saw a lot of other meals come out, all big portions, certainly get your money's worth. Would certainly eat here again.

Great stop in Bellingen! Very high quality motel, the room was big and clean. The staff was very friendly. Appreciated the complimentary breakfast bites in the room. A perfect stay if you plan a stop along the waterfall way.

Great service with knowledge on where to direct us for continuous, updated information after recent flooding/land slips. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Rooms were very clean and a decent size for a family of 4 and included aircon, a stocked mini fridge, breakfast essentials, ironing facilities in the room and television. Bathroom in the room had large shower with a lovely shower head to warm you up on a cool day. Dining area was very busy but the wait for our large and delicious meal was shorter than we thought it would be. Large portions and cooked to order. Great selection of wines and drinks. Off street parking was great although the path to the door is a little rough and steep. Walking distance to cafes, shops and the river for a swim or skipping rocks. Highly recommended.

Great rooms in the motel and friendly bar staff. The food was great and generous and a good price. Outside non-smoking and separate smoking area was good. Inside spacious food menu was great and lots of specials options. Reasonably priced drinks food and accommodation.

Great fit for purpose accommodation . Always like to stop in Bellingen, such a cool little town. Diggers provided the break from the road. Only reason for 4 stars is the nature of the building lends to a bit of noise across the rooms. Otherwise very comfortable ! Thanks.

During January 2023, I recently enjoyed Ceasar Salad with chicken strips with garlic bread and chilled glass of white wine. Great Atmosphere. Lovely place to Wine and Dine. Their Food was Delicious. I recently enjoyed a glass of white wine accompanied by a Chicken Kiev with Salad and Chips. Highly Recommended. I recently enjoyed a delicious Fish Taco with a refreshing glass of white wine ☆☆☆☆☆

Centrally located in town, this is very basic no frills accommodation. It could do with a bit of an update in decor but otherwise clean and tidy. The only downside was the receptionist/barperson - abrupt and unfriendly. When checking in we were told to wait while she served the "more important regulars" at the bar first.

A fairly new block built at the back of the tavern. Room was very quiet as I think most would be, large and appointed in normal motel style. Bathroom and room were very clean. The only downside was the carpark. The tavern uses the public carpark located behind the main street (but right beside the tavern accommodation). I confess to being a little worried about the security of the car during the night, but all was fine, however we did have to keep a close eye on teenagers riding skateboards right beside our car in the carpark. The entrance to the accommodation was not easy to find (around the rear of the building) There is no lift from the carpark to the accommodation, so we had to carry our bags up two flights of stairs. The connected tavern is well located in the main street and we did not hear any noise from the patrons when in our room. Overall, a pleasant stay in a clean, well-priced, well-located property.

4 bed room was very disappointing. Fit-out and furniture cheap and out dated for the price of $230/night, not that I would want to stay there again even for half the price. Not sure who has been writing the reviews for this place to have over 4 stars. 🤷 Bellingen is well known as a charming town. I can only assume the Diggers trades off this popularity whilst not adding any charm itself. Staff were friendly, Water pressure in shower was excellent, meal in bistro was inedible, or as my 4 year old put it 'my body wants to eat more but my brain doesn't want to eat that' (of what appeared to be a frozen microwaved hamburger). Prices in Bistro were also within $3 per meal of Sydney pub prices but not at all in same ball park with respect of taste or quality.
