You get what you pay for, and this place was on the cheap side. The Thai beef salad I had was not to bad, with a good amount of beef. The night we were there they had a sign up saying they had run out of steaks, so could not comment on that. The chicken schnitzel and chips, was nice enough, but the gravy it was served with was bland and gelatinous. Something like Gravox, water, and corn starch. The booth we sat at was nice enough, but the entire table was evenly covered in a sticky substance of some kind. Making everything adhere to the to the wood. The food came out promptly, and the service was good.
Perhaps a nice place to take Nan for her birthday.

Wonderful setting, warm atmosphere, with a rustic charm, beers cold on tap with friendly bar staff. Reasonably priced food and drinks.
Oh negative was the food took a little bit longer to come out then expected, however the bar staff were quick to apologize and offer a drink to enjoy with my meal.
Will be happy to go back.

Went to Elgins for our Golden Wedding anniversary booking I had made. Arrived and we found that the staff had made a very special evening for us with a dozen red roses and hand made chocolates plus decorations around the table as well. A very moving tribute that struck a beautiful chord for us. When complimenting them about how much effort they had gone to, the waitress told us of their own pleasure of making such a fuss for our special evening. Management had no input in what was laid on for us. The chocolates were made by a staff member at home and the red roses were from them for us to take home afterwards. The menu meal was delicious and no extras were paid. The evening was especially good and we have only lived in Wodonga for a very short while the extra effort made our visit so memorable. Thank you to everyone involved from Elgins hotel. We have dined there twice previously and were unknown to anyone in the establishment. 100 per cent positive review from us!

We had a booking for 13 and we all lined up to order together, however, our meals came out staggered and with a huge amount of waiting time from one person being served to the next! The first 2 people were finished theirs well before another one came out. I had to ask for my entree half way through my main...also, 2 desserts were brought to the table when our mains hadn't arrived. From the first meal being served to the last one arriving to the table was 1.5 hrs. Not acceptable! Also, the cappuccinos that were ordered, although well presented, had no chocolate on the froth...this was our Christmas break up lunch and we couldn't believe nor understand why the whole lunch was so unorganized...never again. Greatly disappointed 😔

Was badly glutened had so called GF pasta carbonara. Pasta was slightly undercooked also. Partner had the steak sandwich tough steak and expensive for just lettuce . Onions tomatoe and cheese not even any bacon or a egg. Won’t be back should have known to leave when hardly anyone there for a Sunday lunchtime. Not HAPPY to say the least and so sick. 🤢

Was a quiet sunday night, Staff member on bar was lovely
Fish of the day- Grilled Barramundi was absolutely delicious, tender and boneless
Chips were perfect and so was the gravy

Very pleasant overall experience. Meals are consistently good. Well stocked range of wines too.
I use a 'walker' and access was easy.

Unsure if there is a new chef but the past 2 times we've been there, the food has been below average. Tonight we ordered 2 medium steaks but they came out well done, dry and chewy (seems to be a common occurrence judging by other reviews). The chips were still hard too. Disappointing for a $42 meal. Overdone steak and underdone chips. Unfortunately won't be back and we used to love going there!

The place could do with some love and kinda looks and feels a bit odd with a weird roman/castle vibe but the food was enjoyable.

Steak order medium rare
It came out well done no pink at all.
Spoke to bar staff, had nothing to say.
Dissapointed.
The other 5 meals on the table were fine.

So my partner got the butter chicken it wasn’t butter chicken it taste like fish then he got the carbonara it had the white but from the egg raw all through it then he got the fish and chips was ok and the chicken wing were ment to be a bbq sauce but taste like vinegar not happy

Sadly unless you really have no other option I wouldn’t eat here. Hideously overpriced for was served up, we ordered two Rib Eye steaks and an entree calamari and dropped $130 in the process. I wouldn’t mind if the food was edible, but my glorious fat juicy Rib Eye expectations were met with terrible disappointment when what looked more like a broiled thinly cut chop was served with a terrible excuse for ‘mushroom gravy’ and tasteless broiled veggies. The broccoli was el-dente I’ll give them that - but just tasteless. The steak was so thin and nothing like a normal $50 Rib Eye. Friday night and the place was a ghost town. Had to ask for cutlery. No salt and pepper on the table, then it was empty, the list goes on. The ‘spicy calamari’ was cooked nicely, but again it looked terrible and the flavour profile was all wrong, almost like it was covered in cinnamon? Just run with a quality Salt and Pepper calamari and get it right I say. We’re visiting for the long weekend but this means we’ll have to try real hard elsewhere tomorrow night.

Meals were pretty alright but the staff need a lesson in customer service. I was over charged and when I went to question it with the blonde haired staff member, she tried to put it back onto me, until I added it up in front of her, at which point she accused me of being rude to her. I went out of my way to try to make her feel like it was no big deal, just an honest mistake. She then came over to the table to deliver the meals, and was so rude not just to me but even some of the disabled people on our table

Just your local pub with plenty of pokies and a sports bar, some staff are fantastic, other older staff are really abrupt and rude. Also no cocktails.

Got cut off for not sure what, (aka, loud when we got a feature because we were excited but aparently thats not aloud) claimed it was because of the security guard advised her not too serve me also because I was at the venue as long as she was... What does that have to do with anything?? meanwhile the same security guard tried denying entry for an expired licence that was not expired. Purposely have not came back here for a few months because the same security guard tried to say my partners license was expired when it wasn't.
.. fix your staff. They are ruining the place, one of the reasons I don't regularly come here honestly.
Also toilets are disgusting, no toilet paper in any of the holders in the female toilets, skid marks and no toilet paper in holders in disabled toilets and no lock! So anybody could walk in at any time. seriously do better.

I ordered the chicken Parma it looked fantastic as a cut into it I was confused as it was very hard to cut and very chewy. After inspection of the food it was not chicken but pork the food here has really gone down hill. Elgins used to be one of the best places to go for a good meal sadly not anymore

Haven't been here in years and was delighted to pop in the other night for dinner. There are plenty of meals to choose from. The food was good and the service was really friendly. Well worth a visit.

Great service, nice menu but a bit pricey for just a Bistro meal. Chicken parmigiana was amazing but the roast off the day was tough and chewy and the veggies were rock hard as if they have just been pulled out the ground.
Parking lot needs an upgrade but lucky we had a 4 wheel drive, a small car will get lost in those pot holes 😂

Food was very nice, hot and well cooked.. service to clear plates etc was a bit slow, had to get the attention of the staff and ask for it to be done.

Beautiful food. Absolutely delicious. I had the salmon with green salad, potatoes and a nice sauce, dressing. Not many people there. Nice environment.

A go to for my partner and I. Every meal we’ve gotten has been very nice, the service is great and staff are always friendly. The only downside is they’ve gotten rid of gluten free schnitzels and Parmis which was the main reason we started eating here! They do still have gluten free options though.

11/12/23 Went in for lunch with family I got my meal but we waited for over 30 minutes for the other meal to arrive, when asked they said they had a problem with the order system and still no meal arrived absolutely shameful how the staff did not get on to it and rectify the problem. We ended up asking for a refund and leaving the 1 meal we got and our drinks . I will never go there again
