Wow!! This pub is amazing! We went on their free platypus guided tour and it was great! Mark and Amanda the owners were super friendly and very informative about the town and the platypus's! The beer was delicious as well! 10/10 would definitely go back ☺️

We stayed for 2 nights at this amazing Hotel. The room was so comfortable and we slept very well. Love that you can go to the lounge room and make your tea and help yourself to breakfast. So happy we choose this hotel and Deloraine to stay. The restaurant food was the best we had in Tasmania over the 2 week visit. Will definitely recommend the Empire hotel to others intending visiting Deloraine 😀

We stayed a night after spending the day at Cradle Mountain. The room was perfect with newish looking private bathroom and double bed. It was clean and had everything we needed. We ate dinner (steak cooked exceptionally well) downstairs and enjoyed sitting outside with a wine and beer. Continental Breakfast is included in the room rate. Really personable team (mainly family) but felt good being welcomed into a friendly venue.

We had food for few times. They should add more GF and Vegetarian options. Friendly service and cosy atmosphere..

We didn’t stay here but went for dinner in the restaurant and it was unreal so wanted to leave a glowing review. The food & service was 12/10. Delicious fresh food & lovely staff. One of the best, if not THE best chicken schnitzel we have had. Absolutely recommend - I have no doubt the hotel part of the building is wonderful too.

We didn't stay at the hotel however wanted to mention that the cafe was lovely and that the platypus tour was fantastic. The wonderful man that took.us Saturday 22nd June, was extremely knowledgeable and a fantastic and fun guide.

Very welcoming accommodation with hospitality rarely found these days. Staff are excellent, and work very hard in this popular hotel. Local hotel regulars add to the atmosphere in the bar, and are very friendly. Mark the Proprietor took us on a dusk Platypus tour on his day off, which was very much appreciated! And we saw some Platypus!

The Empire hosted various of my extended in-laws who were visiting us overnight. It was the first time I'd seen the rooms in this lovely old pub and they were charming and the heating was excellent. We had a great meal in the restaurant and everyone has said how much they loved that evening and their stay. The staff were really welcoming and we had a brilliant time. I feel so privileged that this is our local when we visit Tasmania.

Stayed overnight at the Empire Hotel. Room was clean, comfortable bed, traffic noise which reduces at night but not an issue. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Opportunity to see a platypus in the river across the road if you're lucky! Meals are delicious and the menu is great. Communal breakfast room is a nice touch and well stocked.|Very reasonable price for a lovely stay in a charming town. Highly recommended.

Stayed on 2nd floor, room beautifully renovated, great bathroom. Beautiful old pub with original looking furnishings. Loved the "common room" breakfast and chatting with other guests. Great location, although we missed out on the platypus that others saw.

Stayed 3 nights. Room and attached bathroom were roomy and comfortable after each walking day. Cafe downstairs for dinner was scrumptious and a cozy bar in the next room. Owner does platypus tours to the river.

Only stayed one night. Very clean, well preserved historic pub with modern amenities. Great restaurant downstairs too. Parking out the back, centrally located. The only thing we noticed was that our room didn’t have a window that could be opened, and that meant using a fan all night to circulate air.

My husband and I stayed here overnight. Our room was on the very top floor. It was clean and presented well, although the carpet throughout is tired. There was no air-conditioning, but a huge fan worked well to keep the room from becoming hot or stuffy. The hotel has much character and is perfectly located for exploring the main street of shops and the river bank. There is a working railway across the street, so expect a train whistle at times, but not many. Would stay again for convenience.

I went to the cafe in the downstairs area of the hotel. The service is very good, the waitresses are very friendly. The tea is great (it comes with all the bells and whistles) and the sticky date pudding is even better! It is very cozy as well, a lovely space to just relax and have your afternoon tea. If I come through Deloraine again I will return to this cafe!

Hosts weren't available to check-in so I got a young guy who struggled with the task and babysitting a hyperactive nephew. The nephew was palmed off onto me whilst uncle showed other guests to their room and, had to pee!! I kept junior amused for what I deemed unnecessarily long, then finally was shown to my room. $117 per night for a small room with no mini fridge or tea making facilities, no television, an oil bar heater that didn't NEAR heat the room enough (mornings in Deloraine were dipping to -2°c) and a semi open ensuite with the shower virtually over the toilet!! There were tea, coffee, cereal and toast making facilities in the communal dining room, which I chose not to use as I'm not comfortable sitting a one big table sharing my breakfast with strangers. There were a couple there early on, and I enquired as to what their room was like? They just stared at me for an extended period then asked, "What's YOUR room like?" I stared back and we agreed that there was no reasonable response. |Overall, this could possibly be THE worst hotel experience I've encountered.

Food was tasty but didn't come out together. Staff had a hard time remembering orders and water for the table came only after the third prompt. A cavernous succession of dining rooms, quaint, if you like carpeted bistros. Prices were fair. The request to alter a dish to accommodate an allergy resulted in a somewhat comical size.

Fabulous overnight stay at The Empire Hotel. Lovely old building which has been restored without loosing the charm. Mark and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Platypus room, small but comfy bed and lovely clean on suite. Food was delicious, definitely finish with the sticky date pudding. I lost a very precious earring which was found and posted home!

Excellent pub food. Had the smoked crispy chicken wings to start, with 42° South ginseng spice that complimented the succulent wings perfectly. For mains, the lamb shank was spectacular, probably the best I've had. Seasoning on the lamb was savoury and deep, barley was executed perfectly and the seasonal veg completely over-delivered - perfectly steamed, ultra fresh, great variety. For dessert, had a sticky date pudding which was fluffy and generous. Highly recommend the restaurant, and the room we stayed in was also very well kept with a modern bathroom.

Empire Hotel - Deloraine |Classic Country Pub|Modern, clean and comfortable rooms. Meals were tasty and served by a lovely open fireplace. Breakfast was basic but good. Hosts were friendly and informative about the region. Good value. Would stay again.

Dine in dinner: Very friendly and welcoming staff. Friendly barman and lady serving who organised tables. Food: Garlic bread was excellent. Chicken schnitzel I wasn't fussed with and found tough to cut and eat. Chips were crunchy which I agree is subjective but I prefer non crunchy. The trout was excellent. Good menu array, prices good. Layout of tables is compact and almost on top of each other. But overall, good vibe, would recommend.
