We love the Gowrie! Peter and his Mrs have done a wonderful job since taking over. Excellent drink and food specials. Plus staff are great and remember us when we come back. Has a real pub feel which is exactly what we love. Family friendly as well as our little one is in tow.

This place is definitely a diamond in the rough! But the food and service was on point! Staff greeted us as we walked through the door. We ordered the schnitzel and chicken wings and they were amazing! To be honest this place doesn’t look much from the outside, and being an older hotel it would lose its charm with a full refurb. But you will get good, honest, tasty pub grub. And there’s nothing wrong with that!

The service was good, and the food was out very quickly from when we ordered considering we ordered as a table of 14. Did not see a TV to watch the cricket, but that is not always a bad thing. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and will be going back again myself in the future.

The Gowrie Road Hotel has a great, relaxed atmosphere. If you are a previous regular, do yourself a favour and revisit the original "Front Bar". Same kitchen staff that have been upskilled by Falveys Training. Good authentic mash with a hint of residual texture. Flavoured with butter and cream. Hand mashed like mum used to do in a hurry after work. No added powdered potato starch, awesome! Beer is more expensive than the Stock Hotel I think the photos speak for themselves. Very pleased with the last photo of the Norfolf Island Pine in the background through the WWII frosted windows. Classic history and the best ever reno that has maintained the old school memories, atmosphere and Charm Congrats

The food was amazing , the lady that greeted us at the door let us bring our scooters in so that they would be safe from thw current wheather which o thought was very nice to start off. I ordered a rib fillet with mash and veg and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare couldn't fault any of it :) We had also ordered a cheesy garlic bread and where gifted a free couple of chicken wings . We would highly recommend this for a pub lunch/ dinner it was amazing!

I used to go to the Gowrie Road Hotel twice a week before it changed to the new owners. The food was consist, well priced, well sized, and the service was great. Tonight, under the new management, I waited an hour for a schnitzel, with the most meagre amount of chips and salad possible, and a serving of rancid cold hollandaise sauce. The place smells mouldy, with rotting wood in the interior, and the bathrooms were disgusting, the cleaning standards have been dropped severely. A customary wing used to be always served under the previous owners, a nice gesture that has now been replaced with a tacky “if we don’t ask you for garlic bread with your order than you get it free” and pub membership pricing on food. The sauce station, with Worcester, tomato, bbq, and other sauces is also gone as is alcohol free beer. The only redeeming feature were the service staff and owners who, despite these shortcomings, are quite nice. I can only hope that with so many steps back the new owner changes tactic or sells on. At least there is still the Newtown Hotel, owned by the former family, for the former Gowrie experience.

I just want to say a huge thank you! Thank you to the taller gentleman behind the kitchen bar who not only checked on our meal because it was 45mins late, but to go beyond and above to make sure our children were happy and same with us! Also, a huge thank you to the younger lady who also was in the kitchen bar who also checked our dinner aswell and made sure she went into the kitchen and brought out our children’s meals and entertained with kids packs as their meals were late also. I understand it was a busy time, but the pair were not rude, they were very polite and helped in anyway possible! I will 110% recommend! We haven’t been for many years due to a bad experience but to come back for the benefit of the doubt, was quite lovely! Those two staff members tonight definitely need a huge shout out! Also, the meals were perfectly priced and the rib and steak tonight for the special was AMAZING!! I also will call the pub to share my feedback!

I have been going to The Gowrie almost weekly for 3 years. I have brought many friends & family over the years. Tonight will be my last night. Thursdays at The Gowrie are parmi nights $19.90. Tonight we were charged $29 each. When I questioned it, the girl says you didnt order off the specials Menu , I ordered 3 parmi’s?! Whats the difference, no difference she advises. She apologised she’d made a mistake and would get a refund. The Manager who lacks any brains or actual customer service, refundeded $12. Sorry it should be $30. Oh he says you were charged full rate, you should be charged members rate. Sorry no, we should be charged at the specials rate. He could not get it, he could not get that on Thursdays parmi’s should be charged at $19.90! He was rude and kept trying to put the error back onto me and the girl that served us. Since the new owners have taken over, the pub is lacking friendly service, the salad dressing is horrible and the management are extremely incompetent. We wont be back.

I have been a reasonably regular patron of this pub for well over 10 years and my visit on the 2/1/24 will sadly be my last. The pub has come under new ownership and either the owner has a half cooked idea or the ideas they've decided to implement come from an individual with a complete lack of business management experience. The Gowrie Road Hotel was a favourite of mine because of the warm atmosphere, large menu with well priced meals and complementary chicken wings and activity packs for children. These ideas have been abandoned in favour of a tiny menu featuring meals that are double the price they once were, yet are also half the size. The food was ok, but for the $70 I spent on two adults and two kids meals I would have expected far more. Tvs and decorations have been ripped off the walls, leaving a mess behind. Perhaps don't open halfway through a renovation? If the future of the gowrie is to charge as much as possible for as little food as possible in order to increase profit margins then I can only hope people come to their senses and abandon this pub as I have done, and, if the rumours are true, avoid any other businesses this owner purchases.

I had fettucini and husband had rump steak. Very nice they were too. Staff very engaging and efficient. Decor is a bit lacking. Needs a makeover but food nicely presented and crackling and apple sauce with roast pork almost unheard of in Toowoomba!

Had one of their lunch specials, which was pulled pork wrap with chips, when it came out, it was not pulled pork and had like 10 chips on the side. They then changed the menu right in front of me to just a pork wrap. It was one of the worst pub feeds I have ever had. Would not recommend

Great old pub. Staff are very friendly and professional. Hotel is very dated however they are slowly bringing it back to life. Large selection of cold beers on tap. Huge menu selection at great prices. Easy off street parking.

Been going for a few years, since the new owners took over the only good thing they have done with the renovations. Food, drinks and service has gone down hill....

As a disabled person I was amazed that there is no disabled toilet, even after the re-vamp. The wines were not pleasant. I will not be going back. I did notice that the owner drives a Rolls Royce, but he cannot provide a disabled toilet
