Whilst we are on our little holiday of Tamworth,we wanted a place for lunch and pool, this is a old school aussie pub, the food was a big let down let down, let’s start with a Thai beef salad, Thai beef salad should be medium steak cooked and rested then sliced thinly and loaded in with salad, this was dry not good quality meat, with a Asian saucy salad,
My partner is Italian was craving pasta, he tried it and said to me something seems strange, he could quiet out his finger on it, the pastas it self was not over cooked it was good however the sauce was bland, and they haven’t used mince it had steak through it, it turned out he didn’t like the cheese ontop of the pasta it wasn’t great , the pool table is out doors with no fans or anything it was a 34 degree day, so we went to a different hotel with pool tables in aircon

What a great place to have a meal. Excellent range of food to pick from, at reasonable prices. Our meals were cooked to perfection with generous portion sizes. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We were checked on regularly to make sure that everything was okay. The head of kitchen took time to chat with patrons and interact with them. He made everyone feel very welcome. I hope very much to make it back here again real soon. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

We went last night and it was closed off for a private event so we couldn't get in. It looked like a lot of fun from outside in the cold. Nice size stage, smiling bar staff and line dancing. Everything you could want from Tamworth.

We learned on a recent visit even more reasons to love The Family Hotel, a Tamworth staple that has hosted generations of meaningful events and holds dear memories for locals who are now spread all over the world. The new licensee was the owner of the Bat & Ball in Surry Hills for over a decade, through COVID. His wife is from Tamworth and they moved back from Sydney in 2024 to make sure this NSW icon is around for another generation.

This is a great pub with great food and great staff.
The staff working were very friendly and attentive. The fiod was good pub meals and great sized servings
I had the crispy chicken salad and it didn't dissapoint.
Definitely one of my go to places when I'm back in town

The staff were kind and happy to help; even allowing us to make a few changes to the meal. The food itself was delicious and came as a large portion. Drinks wise, the cocktail was brilliant, as a sweet tooth I really enjoy drinks with a little bit of sugar! Was 100% worth the price and I might stop in again just for drinks!

Stayed one night, quiet happy overall with the place, I stayed for a very reasonable price for a single night. I was a little disappointed to be greeted with the stench of tobacco smoke upon opening my room door, had to open the window to breathe. upon complaining to the staff member he was very apologetic and took action immediately by giving me another room which was sanitary, and followed up to make sure it was ok, not his fault somebody ignores the facts on the doors stating non smoking but you would think the rooms were checked daily. Showers were hot. The rissoles I ordered were a touch tasteless for me, seemed to be just drowned in a red wine gravy, not an Aussie rissole to my taste. The general liveliness in the pub was good. Enjoyed the origin and no fights broke out, well managed by staff. Was woken up around 7am but the sound of banging kegs. This place has a lot going for it I think, just needs a bit of work.

Nice meals with huge portions. Friendly and entertaining barman. Not been to Tamworth for about 15 years but the family pub is still a great local pub.

My husband and myself really enjoyed our meals at this venue, they super exceeded our expectations. A true country pub with generous country meal servings. We would definitely come back if we visit Tamworth again.

Lovely hotel but the female staff member totally ignored us. We stayed for two drinks but never experienced a barmaid as her. Have travelled Aus for 14 years and never had such an experience. 11am 7/3/24

I love that you always get massive serving's; that never disappoints. Gravy is yummy and the weekly specials are good value for your money.
It would be 5 stars, IF the chips weren't over-salted EVERY time I've ever been, and the veggies are usually over cooked.
I just would love to be able to finish everything on my plate. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I don't like to waste food.

I had a pepperoni pizza. Way too much cheese and not much else. Service was slow however there were a few large groups in attendance. Bar prices reasonable.

If you are after a pub style feed in Tamworth you should consider this restaurant. I stopped here for both lunch and dinner. Photos attached show my meals cheeseburger / bolognese and the menu showing all the options available / prices. I would recommend if you are after a quick easy meal option with friendly helpful staff.

Had the pork roast with free desert. Very good meal,service was exceptional with the barstaff going put of their way to make my guests and I feel comfortable. If you're looking for a traditional, good old fashioned counter meal, this is the place for it. Prices were on the cheaper side so win-win-win. Good food,friendly and attentive staff....what more could you want?

Had lunch today with family and we have been lunching here for years and the food has always been excellent. Today was different as the food was inedible. The overcooked dry crispy pork belly was not crispy but instead had a cold and gluggy skin, the mash was cold and lumpy with pieces of undercooked potato and the broccoli was cold and uncooked. I spoke to the manager who admitted it was a new cook and I suggested he do something about it as he clearly cannot cook and although he apologised and offered us free coffee, we declined and won't be returning.
