Would give 5 stars apart from the drunken guests talking loudly and laughing at 7am. No respect right outside the rooms. Staff were fantastic and able to attend to me easily. Room had all the basics just annoying that the shower would be boiling one minute and freezing the next. Cheap and cheerful accomimdation.

What a meal, to much. Just could not eat it all. Sensational meal and great friendly staff. Wow hit the spot. Go the bar menu.schnitzel was huge.

We were caught in Newcastle for 10 days due to a family member in hospital and desperately needed some affordable accomodation. Luckily we stumbled upon Jenny at the Gateshead Tavern who was able to juggle her bookings and provide us with a twin room for nearly two weeks. Although the room was basic it was clean, affordable and convenient. The staff and clients at the Tavern were friendly generous and provided us with good old fashioned hospitality in our time of need for which we are very grateful. Thank you.

We stayed in the motel for a week whilst sorting out our recently purchased van for our travels.
The staff were great and very friendly, the cleaners came in everyday and made the beds, replaced the towels for clean ones, emptied the bins, replenished our much needed teas and coffees each day and the showers have very good flow. The food in the bar was very good for value.

Well managed Hotel Motel ,on the hill on approach to Belmont from Charlestown ... Old Pacific Hwy.
Staff are very obliging, easygoing & friendly.
The motel rooms are semi renovated , need a few extra bits and pieces , but overall very good value & cleanest I have had for a while.
Shame there is no dining room here anymore, so you get the courtesy bus to the clubs nearby for dinner.

The bathroom is too small with washing basin in between the toilet and shower box. There is not much space between the sliding door and basin.

Our new go to! Great place to get away from the kids for the night. Staff were lovely and very hospitable. Rooms are cheap cause they are dated, but they are very clean so can't complain. Drinks and food were nice and well priced. Plenty of stuff there; pool table, tab, big screens, pokies, bottlo, Just a good time!

Only visited a friend here but rooms were very pitiful unclean carpet and bedding stained would never stay here myself

Old and dank. Cheap enough though, shower floor needed a better clean. Overall standard was 2.5 to 3. Staff were helpful. Location a bit industrial but close enough to some bush walks and the beach. 5k

Nice quiet stay for the night. Staff friendly, simple. Nice being close to the Hotel where you can get a feed. Small room which as more than adequate and well priced for what you got. Bed very comfy..

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights and apart from a few minor details that the wonderful Jenny attended to, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Small cosy room with reverse cycle air conditioning, compact shower with great pressure and hot water. Food was great, as were the entire staff. Value for money!!!!!
The only things to make it 5 star would maybe be some cutlery, an iron to go with the ironing board and perhaps a small microwave.

Lost my booking to start with. Air con clogged with dust so wouldn't heat the air. Was cleaned next day and worked better. Was cold so went for hot shower but there was none, shivered all night. Next 2 nights had earlier shower but still ran out of hot.
Went in for a nice meal on Friday but only a bar menu was available. Just a little disappointed.

I have been going here for the last 10 years, I went tonight for a couple of drinks and play of the poker machines. After 1 drink I was told I was no longer eligible for bar service and had been cut off, the explanation given was due to my loud personality. The publican even came to advise for this, I was told could continue to play poker machines but no service would be given and to be quiet. The publican said he did not agree with this and even offered to shout me drink at a later date. The security staff also agreed with this statement. I was prepared to continue spending money there as it is my local however given the service received, I cannot recommend this to local patrons and suggest going to the whackers or cbc.

Great motel to stay at, conveniently situated. The friendliest and most helpful staff. The food in the bar is brilliant and very reasonably priced. Schnitzel, chips and salad only $15.. and it was delicious!

Excellent mattress. But the best thing about this motel is the cheap meals which punch above their weight. I’ll definitely stay there again. Was so tempted to get more of the cheap eats even though I wasn’t hungry. Friendly staff too.

Easy and friendly check in, beds are comfy, aircon/heater works well and decent shower. Fridge etc included
Be aware that google maps will be a bit confusing as you come up to it, it will say turn left but it’s before the lights into the driveway, not at the lights.
If you’ve got kids the room is just big enough to shower and get into bed…don’t plan to chill out unless you’re ok with being in bed…we only ever need a crash pad so it’s never an issue for us

Don’t let the fact it’s on a busy road or part of the pub put you off, the rooms are around the back and quiet as well as private, can park directly outside your unit. The rooms aren’t big but for the price it’s unbeatable, no frills but clean and comfortable. Good beds, good hot water. Saw someone else’s pizza ordered from the bar and was envious, looked so yum! Good spot to stay when on a budget.

Better than some hotels I've been to and pretty cheap. It's connected to the pub but far enough from it so you don't hear the pub. Quiet and clean, would recommend.

always a delight to visit Gateshead, budget friendly that fits your pocket and such a simple, humble and amazing place to spend the night or weekend or a holiday getaway. Super friendly staff and they are always ready to help you. I always have a great time out here
