About George IV Inn
Relaxed 19th-century pub offering casual rooms, a bistro, a courtyard & an ice cream bar. Dating from 1835, this relaxed pub with rooms is a kilometre from Picton train station, 7 km from Trainworks Railway Museum and 14 km from Thirlmere Lakes National Park. The 8 low-key rooms come with flat-screen TVs, minifridges, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Bathrooms are shared. Amenities include a bistro and an ice cream bar, as well as event space in restored stables dating from 1810. There's also a courtyard and parking.

WOW!!! Amazing selection of foods. We did t expect to call in to a little country place and find this!!! Hubby had the fish and chips and I had chicken breast stuffed with feta and whole grain mustard with a Gorgonzola topping. It was divine!!!! Service was T-riffic!!!! Would come back and would definitely recommend. Massive seating areas and multiple bars. Every staff encounter was polite and helpful. Do yourself a favour if you find yourself in the vicinity and drop in!!!!!

We have been to the George many times and not left any review.
Celebrating a farewell luncheon we were not disappointed. The food was great especially the Lamb pie which gives another venues 'Guinness pie' a run for its money. The staff were friendly and even brought our drinks to the table when tapping a new keg was required. Never had a dud experience and will continue to frequent this establishment.

We had lunch here and ordered steak, lamb pie and chicken wings.
Let me tell you.. Those chicken wings were delectable!! They were just the right amount of spice with a little heat, and cooked to perfection. YUM. I'm not sure what they put in the spices, but I can tell it was made with a lot of love. Service was friendly and food came out quick! I'll have to come back for the chicken wings!
FYI - cute lizards can roam around the area.

We decided to get off the highway as the traffic was so bad thought we would pop into the George
Beer was cold
Service great
Meal was yummy
Fire was roaring great pub 😊

We bought 6 meals 5 were good but the mushroom risotto was floating in olive oil was inedible was not good .
Amount of toilet facilities not good for amount of people there need to improve cleaning and location signs

We are absolutely love it! Great location, delicious food 😋 👌, friendly staff, clean toilets , plenty of parking, live music 🎶
Place for have dinner with friends or family.
We definitely back again and again!(love their schnitzel!), truly recommend for visiting!

Very nice pub. Plenty of area's to socialise in. My wife and I had a very nice Sunday lunch out on the deck. The weather was cool, but plenty of outdoor heating was provided.
We had the chicken skewers and chef's special chicken breast which were both delicious. Plenty of beers to choose from also. Highly recommend and we'll definitely make a return visit.

The restaurant was magnificent. The food is absolutely delicious and generous sized. Will definitely be eating there again.

The meal was good with helpful staff and in particular the chief advised me of a delay in my meal early and had taken steps to remedy the situation in a timely manner.

Right in the heart of Picton a 10 minute walk to some shops and cafe. Great staff and atmosphere. The food was great and every other plate we saw come out looked so good and big plates. The fish and chips, snitzel and ribs looks amazing. The seafood platter came out....well on a platter. That looked liked it would feed 6!
Rooms were small, bed was ok. We take out own pillows, and just as well, 2 very flat pillows were in the room. We didn't think to look in the little cupboard were the fridge was, could have been some in there.
Rooms needed fly screens on the windows so you could open them us as there is no AC just a filthy ceiling fan that we weren't game to turn on, well we did... but it made such a noise.
I would give the. rooms at George a 5/10 - you get what you pay for but pub itself was great.10/10. Very clean outdoor area and toilets/ showers for guests were kept clean and tidy.
There was also a band Sweet Ophelia.- lots of fun.

Outside on the Deck next to the Craft Bar, under the shade of an old tree, with a cold beer and good friends, what more could you ask for. Our meals were most enjoyable, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The stifling heat on Australia Day did not detract from our enjoyment there.

Luncheon with Tai Chi Ladies and husbands.

Location is easy to get to, the pub has great outdoor seating, the interior is cosy and traditional. Staff were excellent, the menu was varied. We went for a couple of classics, burger for my wife, and the Lamb Pie for me - both very good. Cant fault this pub.

I wanted to have dinner there they turned me away said I didn't book in and that they where full... naturally I was not to pleased about that, or is it just me

It was very busy, but the staff did well to accommodate during lunch.
General opinion around the table was the food was OK, but I was disappointed with my choice of Veggie Burger.
We ordered some desserts to share whic were very nice, but unfortunately the wait was too long and half our guests missed out as they had to leave for a long drive home.

I live only 20mins away and wonder why I never went there before. The place is beautifully set out for dining relaxing or having a quiet one with friends. The food was great, and food serving sizes.

Had a great night. Food was great, staff were excellent and went above and beyond to be helpful. Sat outside and it was lovely. Will be back again for sure!

Had a great dinner here. The atmosphere was was very welcoming and friendly. The staff were very professional and courteous. I had the steak and fries with peppercorn sauce which was delicious. I always try to come here when I get a chance to come to Picton and would recommend to anyone else considering visiting Picton.
Today was my second visit and I still loved it. The food was still delicious and the service was great. I really love the way it’s designed.

Great spot for bike riders to to stop and have a great Aussie pub lunch. Food is very good and well priced. A lot of bikers stop here to meet and chat about bikes and all the stories of the days ride. A very popular spot.

Gorgeous outside dining area nestled amongst the trees. Excellent food!! I had the mushroom risotto and one of the best I've ever had. Very nourishing and nurturing. All staff very polite and helpful. I'll be back. 👍

Called in for a coffee and to check out the premises for a birthday party. Great staff, Kate was wonderful, coffee ☕️ delicious and the Courtyard area just what we were after.

Ate at the restaurant, pretty busy for a Saturday afternoon. Amazing location and views. Beautiful trees, the river, outdoor areas, huge TV screen and bar. Food was good and the portions were good, but a little pricey $25.
Would come back again.

Amazing pub in the Picton area. The food there was sooooo goood. I highly recommend getting the chicken wings. The flavour is so amazing if you’re after something with a kick. Staff was patient and friendly and the wait times for food were reasonable. Price is also the same and the toilets were great. Great place to check out if you’re in town and after a feed!

A couple of years since I have been here, but have stayed here about 20 years ago. This visit was a bike ride with my daughter. A good beer, one schooner only. Lunch was excellent and service at the bar and ordering food was friendly and efficient. Great be able to park the bike at the front. An amazing transformation of this pub over the years and times I have previously been.
