The staff are beyond amazing. So friendly and welcoming. The food, drinks and the pub itself is great.

Standard pub menu, standard pub prices, well below average food. Dry fish, undercooked chips, overcooked steak (the "rare" one came out medium-to-well), salad drenched in an awful balsamic dressing. The bar's ok though - standard suburban pub but airy and friendly with great happy hour deals.

Staff are very friendly. They have a new Chinese menue, not really pub food, but the food is nice but pricey for what you get.

Regrettably, my recent visit to grosvernor was marred by an unfortunate incident with the elderly manager. Despite this, I'll provide an honest review. The cleanliness of the establishment left much to be desired, and the quality of the products served was disappointing. However, the ambiance showed potential for a cozy pub experience. I hope the management addresses these concerns promptly for the benefit of future patrons.

Was asulted by other patrons than banned for 9 months times passed an if it wasn't for the staff I would save my money

I've been going to The Grosvenor on and off for 10+ years. I even lived in the lodge up stairs for about 2.5 years.
The pub usually has quite a high staff turn-over, but the current batch have kind of settled. There are one or two staff who have been around for a long time, as with the majority of pubs in Sydney.
I did get banned from the pub for three months on one occasion. When I quietly asked one of the bar staff as to what it was I had done to get banned (I used to drink a lot). She stood back a bit, and in a loud enough voice that could be heard by not only the whole pub inside, but probably those sitting outside as well, she explained...
Everyone had a giggle at my expense. Pfft!
The pub does have a seemingly rotating 'loyal' group of local clientele, who, on the most part, are a nice lot. Some of them do think they own the place, or their piece of the place, and you'd be wise not to interrupt that.
Fights do break out from time to time, but it's usually just between that 'loyal' group, however the odd innocent passer-by will cop a mouthful on occasion.
If you have a dog, ignore the sign on the door that says "No Pets Allowed." Everyone else does.
If you enjoy a few ciggies with your beer, ignore the "No Smoking" signs around the outdoor furniture. Just about everyone else does.
The place claims to be family friendly, but I personally wouldn't take anyone younger than 18 years old.
The Grosvenor really does need a security guard during all opening hours.
The menu changes a bit too often for my liking, and really, I wish they'd just stick with the traditional pub type meals. Bring Back The Schnitty!!

It will take the bar staff 10-15 mins to serve u on the weekends when there is hardly nobody in the pub compared to weekdays u will get a beer within 1 min it must be due to the staff they employed over the weekends

It's very grassroots Public House, so down to earth blue collar pub well hidden that's it's plus & locals are loyal too very good

I have been looking for a new 'Local' - it's the highest of priorities when I move House. I moved into Waterloo about a year ago. But patience wins out and I FINALLY found my new Local:
The Grosvenor.

I found a long black hair in my bedsheets, my hair is blonde so it was obviously not mine. There was also stains on my sheets. So it was obvious the sheets were not changed in between customers. The beds were so hard it felt like sleeping on a wooden board and the pillows are very thing and provide no support. The air vent in the bathroom made a high pitched shrieking sound whenever turned on so we had to shower/use the toilet in the dark. Our room had a window but it didn’t open, but if we even wanted to open it, our view was of a brick wall on the inside of the hotel. So the room was very dark with little to no natural light.
They advertise air conditioning but fail to mention that it’s through one central pipe for the entire hotel. So you can’t decide the temperature of the room. The $15 continental breakfast consists of fruit, yogurt, and toast in a paper bag. The lobby is done up to give the impression of a nicer grade hotel but once you take the elevator up to the floors with rooms, the carpet is stained, the lighting is dark, and you can see handprints on the walls in the hallways and the room.
It does not give the impression that cleanliness is of the utmost importance, which, for a hotel room, should be the most important thing.

Don't go if your not a local. If you are then you know it's a real early riser. 8am. That's if your into beer. Or if it waited all night for something to open

Cheap accomodation, good for its price
Defiantly needs to ensure that the communal toilet have toilet paper though 🚽
The happy hour has really cheap drinks and the lack of toilet paper in toilets didn’t stop us from having a good time at the concert though

Best bar staff I have met in a long time.Juanita, Jamie, James, Felicia, Sara. Bobby on security too. Credit to you, great characters and a good place to be. This place should have a higher rating absolutely. Nicest people in the world
