Worst experience at a pub I have ever had!!! On Satuday 15th June, I had dinner with friends and wasn't drinking, we were harassed by security for the few hours our group was in the bar for not sitting down at tables. Issues dicussed with bar manager on the night...no support to resolve the issue. Formal complaint emails sent to the pub by many in our group with NO RESPONSE. Calls made by other patrons still still no responsibility take on by them. When leaving to drive home I was verbally abused by the security person causing the issue and he threatened to have his brothers come bash me. (I was sober, I am a female and in my 40s) I will never attend this premises again as I felt threatened and unsafe and would strongly urge others to avoid the venue.

What a lovely surprise this hotel is. We have driven past this hotel so many times for years but never popped in before. as we have a friend from the UK visiting us, we thought we would try it for lunch and it was perfect!! Lovely location, great staff and great food!! Very recommended!!

We stayed at the Gunya for our trip to Newcastle , had dinner which was nice but the portion size of the garlic bread for $10 was very disappointing, steak was cooked perfect gravy was hit and miss but the Mushroom gravy was very nice , meals are very expensive for what they were $96 for 2 people to have a pub meal with 1 x Entree to share ,garlic bread and our steak dinner which was only rump $33 each ,staff are very friendly and professional overall we enjoyed our night in Belmont but unfortunately I won't be eating here again until they're boring menu and meal prices have changed .

Went for dinner loved the chicken 🐔 schnitzel great feed will definitely be back.

Well set up modern pub. Room was clean and comfortable but main road noise was quite apparent (no fault of Gunyahs, but still intrusive) Saturday night was quite busy with live band, full bistro, and engagement party upstairs - but none of this noise was perceptible in our room.

We had our gym Christmas Party in the function room over the weekend and we've received overwhelming reviews from our members about how great the night was ever since. Throughout the night, everyone raved about how nice the room looked, how good the food tasted, and how friendly and accommodating the staff were. I would like to give a big shout out to Rachel who could not have been more helpful throughout the planning process and on the night. I initially felt overwhelmed going into planning the event, and she took all of that stress away, having thought of/and helping me work through small details of how the night would run. I felt confident and stress free now knowing this event was in her hands. She went above and beyond to make sure our night would run smoothly, it was amazing to work with someone just as passionate as us about our event. Our team and our members are very excited about hosting future events there.

View was nice over lake. Staff seemed friendly. Food portions were good and most of our group loved their meals. Couple were undercooked for how we ordered our steaks but still edible

unfortunately had one of the worst experiences here on Saturday the 15th of June. We had gathered there to celebrate my wife turning 50 with about 20 friends it started around 6.30 we were gathered around two tables not far from the door way when around 8pm a person came up to a group of us and started yelling at us in a loud and aggressive manner telling us that we must sit down, unfortunately his accent was very strong and his grasp of the English language was not great. And the fact that he was not wearing any security uniform or carrying any identification led us to believe perhaps this fellow, who later after i questioned told me his name was Luca was perhaps a bit intoxicated. This proved wrong as apparently he was the RSA marshal and proceeded to tell the bar staff not to serve us anymore. When i questioned the bar manager as to why, he said that we where standing to close to the door way which i might add we had moved after we worked out what Luca was trying to say. i could understand if the group who where all around 50 years of age had been causing trouble and the fact that we had only been there for a short period i can guarantee that know one was intoxicated. I was more upset for my wife as we where their to celebrate her birthday, we did try to stay for a short time listening to the DJ until Luca decided that we had to move on and told us to leave. when i asked why he could not tell me and i asked him to produce some form of ID he then pulled something out of his back pocket and waved it in my face so close that i could not see what it was. I have been going this hotel for over 30 years, but if this is the security staff that are running the place (checkmate security) i will not be going back.

Unacceptable. This place ACTIVELY advertises and posts for people to come in and bring their dogs for ‘dogs on the deck’ - to even win a prize! Yet the small deck that dog owners are relegated to gets completely SMASHED with the blazing afternoon sun, COMPLETELY, until the sun sets. There is not a single tiny bit of shade on that deck. Every single person who was there during the time we were there had to get up and move OR leave entirely if they had a dog, because the heat of the sun was so unbearable. We would have just left too if we hadn’t ordered food right before the sun came out. Asked if there was anywhere else to sit with a dog: no. It was truly torturous & unbearable to sit there and just BURN. Painfully eating our meal as fast as possible and leave. This is the experience they’re INVITING us in to have?? It’s just SO insulting to have to sit there and swelter and literally suffer, unable to move anywhere else because we have a dog, after being welcomed in through DIRECT advertising from this very business. Not just animal cruelty but human as well. How about the GUNYAH HOTEL use the MONEY they make from the dog owners they ACTIVELY MARKET TO and invest in some SHADE! Shade sails, umbrellas, ANYTHING, and actually HOST the patrons supporting your business. Won’t be another cent of mine though. Ever. Absolutely appalling. Not good enough.

To b honestt,,,,,,,I wouldn’t b back here if it ment reincarnation of all my loved ones,,this joint couldn’t handle a decent feed it was a world aid commercial in Africa,,absolutely shocking prices for the absolute wash of an excuse to fall from the kitchen,,I was mid way threw my chomp with a few of my closest n fellow pub critics,,when yes that’s right the dish washer came out n harassed us..no good go to maccas khunts

Stopped in for lunch as I'd driven by many times and always looks busy and had heard good things. Beautiful location, good service but the food was very average. No garlic on cheesy garlic bread, cheese tasted like plastic wrapped singles. Delicious Salad dressing though.

Schnitzel on Sunday was great. But today lunch special Lamb Pita was really terrible. Lamb Bolognese on flat bread. Really salty and not worth the $16.

Nice pub on the Pacific Highway in Belmont. Ample parking at the rear. Large screens for viewing sport and a TAB in the main bar area. Pub food is available all day and is reasonable priced. Separate dinning areas inside and out with a view of the water.

My fiancé and I hosted our engagement party in the Lake View Function Room and could not recommend the Gunyah or Rachel more! Nothing was too much in both the lead up and on the night for Rachel and her team and everything interaction myself or my family and friends had was met with nothing but with kindness and ease! I would highly recommend this venue and team to anyone looking to host an event in this space. Beautiful food, venue and service!

Met friends for lunch today, we ate from the "Specials" board, generous serves, delicious food, comfortable space to eat.

Lunch time visit for 2 of us. We both ordered a lunch special and each meal was tasty and generous. Prices good, location fantastic, staff friendly. We hadn't been for a long time but decided we would be back soon.

Live music on Sunday arvo was great. Pretty good food at a reasonable price and great air con (it was a really hot day). Staff were really lovely and helpful.

In the past the restaurant meals we chose were very good. Unfortunately I did not realise the Kingfish description was for raw fish in a coconut sauce so I only ate some of it. The 300g steak my wife had was too big and a little tough. Considering both dishes were mid $30's we were a bit disappointed in our choices especially as it was our 49th wedding anniversary. Service was good and the seating airy as we like the venue.

I had dinner cheap specials great value excellent food the beef pie is the best

Have only been to this place to eat and it was especially busy being fathers day. Felt the menu could offer more options but food overall was very tasty. Service was very slow even for a busy Sunday. Drinks were way over priced as is everywhere, but the view certainly makes up for it.

Had the worst meal there! I had the beef cheek pie and the meat was off! Smelt and tasted horrid! Found out they cooked it 3 days ago and still serving it! Got my money back but still worried As I’m pregnant and could get food poisoning! Will never eat there again!

Had lunch with some friends here today, lunch was perfect, meals were good, hot and fast. I wanted mention a staff member Rachael, awesome staff member, she went above and beyond to help out us out with something that had nothing to do with the hotel but was time critical. We will be back.

Good food and service. We were there on a Saturday night and the place was jumping with a band. Would have a nice view over the water in daylight hours

Checked out the menu on the internet and decided to have dinner here based on that information many changes and items removed from the menu very disappointing food was ok not great

Cam for dinner on New Year’s Eve. Been eating here for years, and this was by far the worst. Crispy skin barramundi was soggy. Beer battered barramundi overcooked. Creamy garlic prawns were tasteless. Minimal garlic. Added pepper but didn’t help. Sad, always was good before

Bit disappointed my steak was quite dry potatoes tasted reheated in microwave husband had garlic prawns said was missing something not as good as I have had before there entertainment was really good

Atmosphere was great. Wait staff were all very friendly and prompt. Unfortunately as good as the food looked it was the real let down. The beef cheek pie had diced up meat inside but no gravy and although it was tender it had minimal flavour. The gravy was instead over the top which helped but still left the actual pie rather tasteless and dry. The barramundi was better and cooked exceptionally but was let down but the lack of flavour in the accompanying potatoes. A bit of.work fine-tuning these dishes is needed.

Ate in the restaurant for the 1st time. Wanted oysters but was told they had run out and it was only 7pm, they might look to adjusting the amount they order especially since it’s holiday time. Wait time for the food was ridiculous and then after waiting for a very long time 3 of our party were told that they couldn’t make the salads as they had run out of certain things. The food finally came out but only a couple of dishes at a time while others were still kept waiting for their meal for a considerably long time. I must say what l ordered was delicious and l thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Get the food out a lot faster and don’t run out of food early and you will make your customers a lot happier.
