Went for Mothers day breakfast. The food is great however my 5 year old daughter was stuck in the toilet for about half an hour as the lock was dodgy. Ok stuff happens but not one staff member came over to see if she/we were ok after. Just a little ' is she ok' would have gone a long way. Like I said food great but yeah....

The staff at the this place need to all be fired.
The level of customer service and general kindness to people has been lost on these people. They seem to enjoy being rude. It's actually disturbing. And not in a good way. The service is next level horrible. Fire these people and burn the place down. Avoid at all costs, or punch the bar staff in the face.after you get a flat beer

The new restaurant the Sugarcane kitchen was fantastic. I had the pulled pork burger. The pork was juicy and tender and the sauce was delicious. The service was timely and friendly.

The "HAMBO" is a great pub with family friendly dining and a great sports bar. Well worth a visit.

Sugarcane Kitchen at the Hambo is a great place to eat. Friendly staff an extensive menu and a pleasant atmosphere that is not noisy. Good place for a family party and/or a relaxed evening meal. It is licensed and reasonably priced. A must do if you are in the Cairns/Edmonton area.

Spotlessly clean environment, staff heavily over caffeinated which (in the main, but not always)seriously effects unprofessional and bad service as a result sometimes deliberately. Go there, if u have to, with this in mind. It may help you not be upset and frustrated

Sometimes it's good. Sometimes I perceive the energy as wonderful and happy. Sometimes the energy as being a bit aggro. Example there's some opinionated heavy bloke bloke, you move and he follows you. So then you go home. Because you don't like the energy . How can you tell ?

One of the few times I've been to this place, was told by a "regular" to "go back where I came from" after being asked where I'm from, in which case only the northern beaches. Doesn't seem like a family place to me, often see riff raff headed in there. Grafton over the road is more suited for families, if that's what your looking for. This joint is just a "local watering hole".

Nice meal, great waitress. When ordering, staff need to let older customers know that they offer discount with a senior card.

I'm disappointed...last time I was here I thoroughly enjoyed the Jumbalaya, it was generous and delicious.
This time I ordered the Coconut Prawns ($22). I got three small prawns that were not fresh and overcooked.
I asked if it was the right serve for the price and was told yes. I expressed my disappointment and was met with indifference.
Do you think I'm being unreasonable?

I had the steak sandwich as advertised as the lunch special on Thursday the 11th of May, The entire meal had no taste at all, the steak was tough, the coleslaw didnt taste like slaw, the chips that came with the meal was over cooked. The pub itself was clean but the patrons needs to look like they enjoy their job, a huge whatsup on that one.
My sister n family recommended this pub to me as a great pub to dine-in with a great atmosphere but I beg to differ, I believe it wasn't what they boasted it to be.

I come here every Wednesday for dinner and simply love the food. It always tastes good and a great price. Come down for a feed you won’t regret it. Plus the Spaghetti is awesome!!!

Had dinner here last night.Had caesar salad wifh Garlic prawns.OMG BEST SALAD i have ever had.Sorry no photos as too busy enjoying it.
Service was also amazing,very very friedly and 10/10.

Great pub. Service is friendly and efficient. We had a burger for lunch which was reasonably priced and delicious. The fries were a little undercooked but the burger definitely made up for that. We will be back for sure.

Great food in rustic surrounds. A gem of a place and so close to home. Get out of down town Cairns and try this place for brilliant food at a fair price. It’s now in our 'restaurant rotation'. Try the jambalaya if you want a treat

Don't be a fool - if you're after a good old fashioned sesh at a historic pub that's not owned by coles or woolies then this is your place. Staff are awesome, facilities fantastic. TAB and pokies if that's your thing. Eating is NOT cheating - Kitchen with good food to fill ya guts. You'll prolly see me there.

Came in for a meal as signage said bistro opened at 11am. Watched the woman behind counter stand around chatting for 30 minutes with another staff member. At about 11:05am I went to order food and the woman said they weren't ready to start serving. I asked what time they serve she just blatantly lied and said 12pm. When the signs all over the pub stated 11am. I queried this and she shrugged unapologetically and make more excuses. So I decided I would not stick around to have such a slack worker cook my food. As a hospitality worker I was quite disgusted. Owner seemed oblivious to the loss of business when he came and asked her how set up was going. I guess Hambo hotel isn't fussed about attracting new customers for lunch as they can't even open according to signage. My advice to owner would be hire better staff who are capable of opening on time.

Bar was good mostly nice friendly staff.. but all that changed when we decided to stay for Dinner. We ordered quite early & the meals took forever to be delivered. My husbands meal was nice & hot but mine was just warm. If you want to have a drink, you have to go into the Public Bar... no table service at all !!! Disappointed

Aussie pub style atmosphere. Live music Friday Night. TAB and Gaming lounge. Restaurant has had a facelift and serves decent food.

Anyone with a disability don’t bother going as you get discriminated against they need to be educated about disabilities the way this dumb mindless female spoke to my boy embarrassing and humiliating him in front of other customers she should be ashamed of herself and show some respect

A clean nice pub really. Pity every staff member is uptight, unfriendly and sour faced. Don't bother stopping in.

Absolute cracker of a bar and kitchen! Well priced tap beers, and the meals are some of the best in town, resturant quality or better!
New to the area, but the Hambo is fast becoming my local!
