When I booked harp hotel it was not mentioned that this is a pub hotel. I asked the reception would noise be an issue and she said no. Not only did I feel it wasn't safe the music and loud singing was blasting on past 2am- definitely couldn't sleep . Tried to call management and they said it was mentioned we were above a pub in the welcome message sent (I found it among a lot of other information). I then said it was not mentioned noise would continue till 2am- I was told that I should have looked up the opening hours. Management and staff are intentionally being deceitful. I have posted photos

The rooms were very tastefully decorated. However all night we heard a noise from outside the room perhaps the hotels AC unit? It made meaningful sleep impossible. Maybe that's why they had free earplugs? The taps leaked. Of great concern was the double glazed barred window. So no fresh air and no means of easy escape incase of fire. Yes fire exits are available but that would require and exit into the hallway. Also finally we did find the hotels carpark not an easy task considering the official hotel directions say one way street off Crown St. Well it's a dead end so how can you get in and out of it's a one way street? One of a very few hotels and I often an staying 3 night as week that takes a $200 bond. Not sure how quickly it is returned.

The Harp, interesting joint. The interior of the bar has definitely seen better days and could do with a makeover. I believe the place comes alive on Friday and Saturday nights with karaoke but the weekdays when I was there were less than vibrant. The rooms are actually quite decent, clean, good water pressure, aircon, and the linen seemed of decent quality. Beer and spirit selections were pretty average, if you're after a craft beer head elsewhere. I can't speak of the food as I didn't eat there, but the menu read like average pub grub. It wouldn't be my pick to have a beer as there are a handful of better bars (in my opinion) within 5 minutes walk.

The blue haired bartender/security had a really bad attitude and was providing the complete opposite of customer service. The other staff were lovely however this woman, has ruined my experience here. Wouldn’t recommend.

The accommodation is very clean, while the rooms are very motel sized, the Showers are magnificent. Serious, nothing else matters.. you have to experience them with your partner. The entertainment is great, I'm not into karaoke but it was fun, the bounces aren't heavy handed and the staff love meeting new people. The food sucks but its like little Melbourne down there. Restaurants on every corner and coffee shops in between. The cultures so vast, they some how work together. The locals are mostly young. The main street turns into a New Orleans, or the French quarter after dusk. Girls out number men 4 to one. So there's no fights, just pedal powered rick shaws going from pub to club. I'm very impressed with the Harp hotel, which seems to be the place to be.

Stopped here to just have a look, had a soft drink and sat around for a bit. Staff seem nice and helpful. Good atmosphere, would definitely come on a Friday arvo

Popped in for a drink and a feed on a Friday night. The lady behind the bar with black hair and nose ring couldn’t have been more unfriendly. Not even a smile at any time we ordered. The other women behind the bar weren’t much better. Ordered burgers, they tasted ok but we’re very sloppy. Chips were delicious. Won’t be going back.

Pity the waitress won't let you whistle when friends are singing karaoke! That was ridiculous!

Our recent stay at the Harp Hotel was sadly an unfortunate choice, and we feel compelled to share our experience to alert fellow travellers seeking a peaceful rest to stay away from this establishment in Wollongong. Our twin bedroom (great cleanliness) was facing the main street, just above the hotel's karaoke bar. The noise level, even on a Monday night, was incredibly disruptive. Despite being seasoned travellers armed with high-grade earplugs, the bass permeated through the bed, and the disruptive noise persisted until 1:30 am. We requested a room change for our second night. While the staff were friendly, they said there were no other twin bedroom available. Fortunately, no one seemed to be singing at the bar that night, allowing us to finally get some much-needed sleep. It is with regret that I find myself leaving one of my rare low-star Google Reviews. I sincerely hope this honest feedback serves as an opportunity for improvement and warning for other travellers.

Omg. So I went to this club with some friends. I ran across the road & stopped just in time as a car came. The bouncer at the door said. Can you justify doing that. I said, I didn't see it coming. He said, so you can't justify it. You aren't coming in. I thought he was joking. He wouldn't let me in & I'd had 3 or maybe 4 drinks. Since when did bouncers control how we cross the road. Absolutely disgusting. I'm a 60 year-old lady. I'm from the Gold Coast. I've never seen such disgusting controlling behaviour from a bouncer in my life......👎 Oh he wasn't an Aussie either. I gave him a mouthful & went home. It was only 9.40pm.

Oh my goodness, let me tell you about this absolutely fantastic establishment in Wollongong! 😃 It's a place that has somehow managed to maintain its charm and uniqueness, remaining as delightfully questionable as it was 15 years ago. You won't find any place like this anywhere else in town! 🎉 Picture this: it's a haven for all the middle-aged dudes who just refuse to grow up, and the best part is that they're joined by folks who barely speak English but are doing their darnedest to fit in with the local nightlife scene. It's like a melting pot of people from all walks of life, coming together to create an atmosphere you won't experience anywhere else. 🌍🤩 But that's not all! This is definitely the one and only venue you'd want your partner going to with their friends. Why? Because the fun never stops, and you'll never know what kind of wild adventures they'll have, making it a night to remember! 🌟🎊 And let's talk about the waiting area. It's not only safe, but it's like a little slice of paradise. You'll be amazed at how I've never witnessed a single fight there! Can you believe it? The peacefulness and camaraderie that can be found in that queue are simply unparalleled. ☮️🤝 But there's one more thing that's a signature part of the experience. Once you walk inside from the smoking area, you'll be greeted by a lingering fart that's become something of a legend among the regulars. 🌬️💨 It's a quirky addition to the unique charm of this place and always manages to spark laughter and conversations. It's a testament to the unforgettable character of this establishment! So, if you're looking for a unique and unforgettable nightlife experience that's as charmingly quirky now as it was 15 years ago, filled with the most interesting characters, and a waiting area that's a model of safety and unity, you absolutely, positively need to visit this remarkable establishment in Wollongong. It's an experience you won't want to miss! 🌈🎆🎵

I regret to inform that I strongly advise against families with children staying at this hotel. My first mistake was choosing to book a stay here on a Saturday, influenced by our travel schedule. The hotel's central location seemed promising initially, but that was quickly overshadowed by the experience that followed. Upon arrival, we were assigned a room on the first floor facing the street. The room, barely accommodating for our family of three, felt cramped and left little room to maneuver. What initially puzzled us – the presence of double-glazed windows – soon made sense as a futile attempt to mitigate the noise from below. The real ordeal began at night. Starting from 10 PM until the wee hours of 2 AM, the hotel transformed into a cacophony of loud music and singing emanating from the ground floor. It felt like a mass karaoke session, with the entire hotel participating – except us. Despite the provision of earplugs by the hotel, sleep was an elusive luxury. Just when we managed to drift off around 2:30 AM, our slumber was rudely interrupted by a group, likely the same revelers from downstairs, who stormed the first floor. Their loud chatter and singing continued in the hallway, right outside our room. Multiple attempts to reach the hotel staff for complaint went unanswered, leaving me no choice but to confront these individuals directly. It wasn't until 3:30 AM that we finally found some peace to sleep. The impact of this night on my 6-year-old child was profound. As a parent, it's disheartening to see your child suffer due to a situation beyond your control. Therefore, I emphatically recommend that families, especially those with young children, seek accommodation elsewhere. This hotel, while possibly suitable for those looking to partake in late-night festivities, is certainly not conducive for families seeking rest and relaxation.

I had a great experience. The bed is comfortable and the place is very close to everything. It has a bar with karaoke 🎤 I enjoyed. I did not stay during the weekend so it was quiet.

Hotel was ok. Check in went smoothly. They provided earplugs. Our room was facing the street, noise was alright (we expected worse). They provided coffee/hot chocolate/tea. However, there was no kettle in the room. Roof needs some repairment

Great value clean, spacious newly renovated rooms. Lovely staff that went out of their way for me. A friendly crowd at the bars and a fun place to be. A must to check out the fish tank behind the bar and join in the karaoke.

Great clean rooms, location is so central to all I needed for the weekend. Service I did not speak to anyone except when checking in at the bar he was friendly but could answer any questions on the room side only could check me in. Was warned about the noise but it was not that bad slept well both nights. I would definitely stay again and recommend the Harp very affordable

disgusting behaviour from the female bartender Saturday night. She had a miserable look on her face and when asked if she was alright she took offense to this and began shouting and saying offensive/racist things towards me and my friends, she told us it was “rude and disrespectful” for asking her if she was okay, She also overcharged us for drinks and we noticed later the prices we were charged for drinks were not lining up with the prices advertised, dissappointing cannot even begin to describe how we felt when in this bar. We spent over $300 as this was the only place open near by and regret every single cent we spent here. Please take into consideration these reviews before coming to this pub. 0/10 stars do not recommend. This place supports racism and overcharging people. Cheers

Bands playing until 2AM, didn't realise it was a Pub Hotel, that was only noted in small print on 2nd line of ad. The fact it's a Pub Hotel should be made more evident.

A group of 8 of us - 40+ professionals - went to the Harp for our friend to sing karaoke before he returned to the USA. The place smelled like pee and the floors were sticky. After 2.5 hours his name hadn't been called, though we saw other people singing 2 or 3 times who had arrived long after our friend went on the list. The karaoke master guy sang a song himself, ignoring the customers on his list. I walked up to him between songs to ask if my friend's name had perhaps been lost; he yelled at me to get off stage and refused to listen to my question, even though I was smiling and being polite. We asked one of the singers how she got prioritised, and she said it was because she knew the karaoke guy. She called in a favour and got him to let our friend up to sing, at 2am. After it closed, he heard that I had complained to the security guard about him, came to me and said there were 40 people on his list and he couldn't cater to everyone. Then when I was answering, he turned on his heel and walked away so he wouldn't have to her my response. What a rude, passive aggressive, obnoxious, unprofessional blockhead. If you have 40 customers' names on your list, serve them rather than getting your friends up for a dozen songs. And for heaven's sakes don't take to the stage yourself, when people have been waiting several hours. That's not ever going to go down well. Karaoke guy made a comment on stage about it being a workplace, when someone was vaping. If it's a workplace, he should get a modicum of professionalism. We were 8 people with good disposable incomes, who won't be back because the Harp runs karaoke like a chook raffle.

A bit too small for 2 people, the WiFi is too slow and sometimes can’t use it. The beds is good. Bathroom is clean. You have to ask for hair-dryer and other things.
