Hellenic Club in the City

We hosted an event here and the team were super helpful. The food was well priced and tasty, and they had a good selection of drink options at the upstairs bar for our function. Booking fees were reasonable too.

was there for lunch and ordered the scotch fillet medium rare but it was cooked over well done and so dry. for $34 that was a bit dissapointing. there wasnt a big rush of customers either or this would've been understandable.

Very disappointing experience overall. Booking of 30 guests - booking was "forgotten" about, so it was a scramble for staff to get our table together upon our arrival. Tables weren't even wiped down, very sticky and obvious drink rings left from previous patrons. The bar smelt strongly of old beer, and could see alot of yeast build up on the bar trays, so obviously a poorly taken care of venue & bar. We got main meals before our entrees, and the table numbers were taken off the tables after the first meal was delivered, leaving the poor wait staff walking around clueless wondering where they were supposed to be delivering the rest of the meals. Some meals came out with frozen vegetables on the plate, some came out wrong all together. My meal personally was wonderful, (halloumi gyros) however others waited over an hour for a "medium" steak which came out well done and was needed to be sent back. No checks were done on our meals throughout our duration at the venue, and by the time we left the tables were still filled with dirty plates. The smoking area had empty glasses stacked up everywhere. The gaming room was left in a poor state, chairs untucked all over the place and glasses next to every machine - no gaming attendant in sight. We received friendly service from the presentable young girls behind the bar, and some of our group received refunds for their "meals" but the experience was very poor as a whole. Staff need better training, a higher understanding of RSA (spirits were over poured and no IDs were asked for) and general cleanliness of a restaurant. Very poor management - doesn't matter how well you dress to come to work if you cant even teach - or at least encourage - your staff how to clear & clean a table. The live entertainment were great, very talented duo, created a good atmosphere, unfortunately we know they are their own talent, and did not help to make a good impression on the venue. I'd recommend that duo to find a better venue to perform at because they can do a hell of a lot better.

Very disappointed. I booked a table for SOR3 more than a fortnight ago. The girl on reception asked me which table I would like and we discussed a specific low, long table in the centre of the room. I was told this wasn't a problem. I phoned at lunchtime on the day to confirm - yep, all good I was told. I arrive and we've been put on a high table at the back of the room right next to the bar. NOT happy. What's the point in booking early and ringing to confirm. We won't book here again.

Very bad experience! Grilled chicken on menu but it was boiled and put on the grill afterwards very chewy picked it with rice not fresh and hard , tenderloin beef also very chewy, grilled chicken souvlaki for kids came fried and overcooked; manager was so nice replaced the 3 plates, had to wait again and took too much time, grilled chicken for my kid was good , grilled chicken for adult was good but still rice not fresh, tenderloin came rarely cooked although said medium, still chewy and couldn’t eat it, very disappointing!

Update my rating based on my latest experience. From first drinks to the end; quick service and rump steak, chips and salad top shelf for a basic meal. And you can now get zero beers over the!

The staff here are amazing we are travelling and they made us feel like locals. Great value meals, and a small pokies area if you like a flutter.

The only culinary talent here is ability to make chicken paper thin! I had the Wednesday night chicken schnitty - it was the thinnest dried out piece of chicken I have ever experienced. Even after trying to scrape away breadcrumbs I think I would have been lucky to have had 2 mouthfuls of chicken. How does chef let this leave this kitchen?

The food was so bland, poor quality cuts of meat. Everything on the plate from the chips, to the salad to the meat was horrible. Nothing Greek whatsoever. Came hungry all the way from Melbourne and was so beyond disappointed. Not to mention outrageously expensive for the poor quality. If we weren’t so hungry we would have left it all on the plate. We couldn’t wait to get out. The staff however were super friendly and very welcoming. Such a shame.

The food here is truly terrible. Have been here twice, and both times was really surprised at how bad it was. Most recently I ordered a Greek salad and added chicken. When it arrived the chicken was one old skewer’s worth of chicken which had been removed from the skewer and put on my plate. 4 tiny chicken cubes with a hole through each and so dry you could tell it had either been reheated or was just genuinely old. Even the steaks here are tough as boots. Only gave it two stars instead of one because the staff are actually really nice.

Steak was okayish, drinks were nice. Went there a second time and got the lunch special and the burger was cold.

Small, loud, with very basic food and facilities. We were expecting similar to the epic club at Woden, and were very disappointed. Staff were lovely and friendly, and did thier best on what appeared to be a busy night. Would not go back - Woden club with space and variety suits us better.

Parmi Night is a bit of a disappointment. As a member you save $5.10, however you only receive half the portions. It seems all you're really saving is space in your stomach. Despite this, food still tastes great as always. Just a bit disappointed.

My goodness. 1st time in the ACT in almost 30 years and Lachlan and Cam made us feel like locals. They were smiling, friendly and professional theses guys should give training sessions to service staff. On top of this the specials board food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. Had fun at the pokies and the beer was cold, what more could you ask for. We will return and my only regret is that 5 stars is the best rating I can give.

My family and i had dinner there tonight and it was fantastic! Yummy food, great sizes and the cocktails were amazing! Matt and Mitch were more than accomodating with their great customer service skills. We can't wait to return.

Limited menu, food was not the greatest. Squid had string through each one, Parma was deep fried no no kids menu! Kids loved the big spinning wheel though

How was it? We have a 4yo and a 1 yo girls with attitude. It's the first time we've been and did so due to a recommendation from the internet. So worth it! The staff (all the staff, manager down) we're extremely friendly and polite. Yes we were there "early" maybe 5:45pm but the friendly staff were very inviting. We were "waited" on by Chelsea (I think) and she was very friendly and inviting. In fact all the staff made you feel like "old friends". All this backed up by a perfectly cooked (medium rare) scotch fillet steak. So if you are looking to just go casual and have dinner and a drink where you feel right at home couldn't recommend it highly enough. Massive shout out to all the staff that's legends.

Had their new pizza for lunch today, just too good.

Great establishment, but food is very bland, not very much flavour, i got the meat lovers schnitzel and it was very dry and hard to cut, that my plate tipped up while I was trying to cut into it, and almost went everywhere, and the sauce was very minimal, a bit more would be nice please, thank you.

Good lunch deal and friendly staff.

Food and drinks were great, reasonably priced. Staff were pleasant and friendly. I didn't get to see everything the club had to offer, just there for a family reunion and food, so it was great. Only problem we encountered was parking, there was none attached to the club and very little in the surrounding streets. Be aware of this if you are driving here, otherwise, we'll worth a visit.

Excellent catering for our Melbourne Cup function. Bar service was good - great lemon, lime & bitters!

Disinterested staff in both bar and bistro on a Saturday afternoon. Bones in Chicken wings still frozen 😳 and I’m sure the salad was from a supermarket packet. Has lost the menu, atmosphere and friendly professionalism of pre COVID visits.

An excellent club located close by to Light Rail. Staff very friendly abd and professional. Excellent variation of meals available. All reasonably priced. Bathrooms ,Bistro and bar located in close proximity. Worth 500 stars just for this. Highly recommended. Will call again

Amazing communication, organisation and customer service by Matt and his team in the city. After a fantastic experience last year for my 50th it was an easy decision to book our wedding after party dinner with Matt again this year. Great service and selection of food options for all ages. Matt has been so professional and has really set my mind at ease during the chaos of wedding week. Thanks Matt you are fantastic, we really appreciate all you’ve done to make our day amazing. I can not recommend the Hellenic Club in the City and the team highly enough. Leonie :-)
