Hervey Bay R.S.L

Went there for the first time, beautiful big venue. Pokie area is ginormous! Would be 5 stars, but it was a 20 minute wait just to put the food order in, then a huge long wait for the food to arrive.

We dine frequently in Poppy's. The food is always spot on, and the wait time is reasonable. Our only issue is that we can get tomatoe sauce, BBQ sauce, or gravy with our meal, but when we want chilli sauce, there is an extra charge on that.

Very good atmosphere when you arrive. Great and friendly staff there to help you. The food was fantastic too. I recommend the RSL for a great place to meet with other friends and family. Thank you.

Very disappointing food, worst meal we have had on our stay here. Pub bistro at best 5 of us left 5 unfinished plates. Poor.

This place is unbelievable. The meals were great and not expensive. The staff were fantastic and very friendly. Not like other places. We enjoyed the experience there and we look forward to coming back soon.

The oysters where nice but not the best I have had. My salmon was a little over cooked but still eatable

The food was nice, the beef veggie soup was so good & the roast was OK. The service was rude, we paid for the roast, lined up in a long queue to then be told they ran out of roast beef & only had pork, I told them I don't eat pork, they told me I could get a refund which I found unprofessional as I would have had to wait a long time after ordering another meal, so they went away for a long time to find out what they could do,sure enough roast beef magically appeared ?! We had a group of kids in our group, a few teenagers, they went into the kids games area, the lady supervising had it in for our kids, picked on any little thing they did, the kids came out upset. Then while our kids went over to get some water the manager told our kids not to be walking around. I told the manager to lay off our kids, it's our job to chastise our kids, he then said would you like me to ask you all to leave, I told him if you don't like kids then don't do this job & that we were leaving anyway.

The bistro serves delicious, quality food at best prices. Service is brilliant, your meal is served within minutes of ordering. The setting is clean and tidy. Poppies cafe serves delicious treats. Service is usually slower than that of the bistro and I have witnessed two incidents of order dockets going astray resulting in long waits until the customers complained. However wait periods are usually not excessive and the food is delicious.

The atmosphere is bustling, and the staff are friendly and approachable. The food is great and the portion sizes are pretty large. It is hard to fault the Hervey Bay RSL. The coffee is worth going there for, and the baristas there are approachable. I would recommend booking a table for the lunch time slot, especially on the busy days (weekends mostly).

Such a welcoming & friendly club. Multiple staff went out of their way to organize a large table setting on a busy night, The Food was great, cocktails were delicious and had live entertainment. Thankyou for the hospitality. 5 Stars.

Ordered duck spring rolls and bruschetta for entree. Not sure how they call that a bruschetta with a bit of oil on bread and full of mushrooms it tasted terrible duck spring rolls were greasy. I asked the waitress to tell the chef bruschetta was the worst I had tasted in all our travels. Main we had pork roast and seafood basket, I didn't expect much from roast and it was very ordinary as expected but would of liked the potatoes to at least be cooked. The seafood basket was for my husband and for him to leave 80% of it on his plate it has to be pretty bad the batter on fish and prawns was what you would get on a Pluto pup the fish itself was tasteless. For $85 I expected a decent feed the food at the bistro/restaurant was below ordinary.

One of the worst dining experiences ever experienced. Drove from Gympie to Hervey Bay for the last day of the school holidays July 7th 2024. We arrived just prior to lunch. Decided on the RSL, as the Gympie one is fantastic. First thing we noticed was lack of clearly marked disabled parking for an RSL!!!!. Inside we lined up, as every licenced venue I've entered you are required in the event of an emergency to sign in. Either with a members card or photo ID. When we reached the top of the line we were told that signing in isn't necessary. Strange. Upstairs we entered a very busy dining area, not only in crowds, but in the layout. The signs weren't very clear for lining up to order. Managed to nab a table. There were no menus on the table. Ordered a roast and queried about the kids eating free. Asked whether a kids meal had to be added to each paying adult meal (as we were splitting the order). We were informed should be able to get two free meals on one paid adult's meal. Thankfully that was the case. On the menu it said kids meals, like adult meals came with chips and salad or vege. I asked for chips and salad. The server said only one side. Chips it is. On the menu, it also stated kids meals come with a free soft drink. I didn't get a voucher, but plenty of venues often forget to hand these over. My receipt showed two kids meals. We had ordered 4 dinner rolls. Two of the bread plates were absolutely filthy. I then made my way to the bar. I ordered a pink gin, lime and soda. The young barman said "we only have Gordon's". Yes, Gordon's pink gin will be fine. "No we only have regular Gordon's ". All completely dead pan. I've seen more enthusiasm from a dead fish. Right, then what vodka do you have?. He just turned around a bottle of Smirnoff. "This". Right then, may I have a vodka, lime and soda, no ice. In a tall. Please. Lime just checked on top, not muddled and placed in the bottom . I also asked for a lemon squash and 2 free kids drinks. He then proceeded to argue that without a voucher he couldn't do a free drink. I informed him that I didn't get one. He said I'm new and he couldn't do anything. He and another bar man rudely implied they couldn't do anything to help. A young bar woman interjected to inform me that when kids eat free they don't get a free drink. At Tewantin and Gympie RSL clubs, and all the ALH venues on the Sunshine Coast offer free drink and icecream, irrespective of a free meal or not. I said that the menu clearly stated a free soft drink with every kids meal. She then said they have $5 soft drink jugs when the kids eat free. Another woman came to tell me the same thing. I told her the menu is misleading as there is no mention of any terms where the free drink isn't included. My young sons got a kids meal each, the young male practically threw one plate on the table resulting in nearly all the chips landing on the table. No apology offered. When I called him out he just shrugged and muttered a half arsed sorry. I then watched the meals sitting in the warmer area whilst no less than 5 wait staff just stared at the plates. They slowly made their way out to tables. Given the roast meals are sitting in the cavery ready to be carved and served I couldn't believe my mother waited 30 minutes for her roast to come to the table. Every other venue and restaurant serve the meals as they're ready. Not wait for the other meals on the table to be ready. Then serve all at once. The parmigiana was ok. The chips however were mostly cold. Wasn't a fan of the pesto salad dressing. As I finished my meal I wore tomato sauce all over the back of my new shirt from the child behind me. I thought only takeaways still offered sauce in those squeeze packets, other venues we frequent provide a side ramekin of sauce. I've worked in retail for over 25 years, eaten any many pubs, clubs, bistros and restaurants. My parents managed bistros and restaurants in Sydney growing up and today was the worst dining experience I've ever had. Never again would I dine, nor recommend to dine at the Hervey Bay RSL.

On a recent visit to Hervey Bay we visited the RSL for dinner. Meals were great and the beer was cold. I had the roast which was large and enjoyable. We got the courtesy bus back to our Motel which saved a walk

Nice club for a country town but the tucker is only average. The meat was fine but as for the veg cold as usual out of a bain marie. Asked for hot veg on the plate and the server assured us it was hot but was only lukewarm. Very busy club and will be back next time we visit Hervey Bay.

Love our local Hervey Bay RSL. Always friendly staff. Fast service. 2 venues to order food from. This review is for Poppies (left at the top of the escalators) Pesto, pumpkin, cheese, feta, bacon jam & balsamic open grill $11.90 for members The Works Burger $19.90 for members 10/10 delicious 😋 We have also had the seafood basket $23.90 for members 6/10. We will be back to work through the rest of the menu 👍🏻👍🏻

Had a delicious karate chicken pizza, couldn't finish it but thoroughly enjoyed it. Happy to go back again. Friendly staff and quick service.

Great place to come for lunch when you don't want to cook. Eat lunch in the Bistro and then have coffee & cake in the cafe. The only thing that is slightly annoying is that when the coffee & cake is brought out, no serviette is given.

Great club to eat at. Meals were very tasty and reasonably priced. Had the pork belly and the seafood basket. Both super tasty 😋 good priced drinks too

Good was basic as heck but cooked well. What made up for this was the entertainment for the night. A solo guitarist playing great songs - Time Warp, Take On Me, Rock DJ, Nutbush. Got free bottle of wine plus kids got a free soft drink. Made a good night out.

Friendly staff, kids club is well fitted with a balance of technology and hands on activities, food is delicious. We go here frequently for lunch and dinner with friends.

Food serving is massive and the food was absolutely fantastic. Customer service was on point, everyone was super friendly and lots of smiles. Food and drinks are very reasonably prices - cheap in my opinion. Had a great time and will definitely be back again.

First time ever at the RSL for a light meal. Poppies absolutely fantastic. Extensive menu and delicious. So impressed retuned the following evening for a meal at the bistro. Barramundi. Ate every morsel. Will definitely return.

Fine food with great prices. Large function facilities. Texas Holdem Poker ! Great entertainment 👌 but definitely need a bigger dance floor. Loved dancing to 'Lady Byrds' today. They play a great variety of genres, supplying dancers and listeners a happy and uplifting atmosphere. Absolutely thrilled!

Came here on a Friday for lunch & we joined for a month as we are travelling through. Guy singing, great music & meal. Will be back tonight for the Jazz band playing.

Called in for dinner on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was packed with a number of tables with reserved signs on them. Wife had roast pork and vegetables, which she enjoyed. While I had a chicken schnitzel with salad and chips. Meals were well priced, as were the soft drinks. Clearly a very popular spot with the towns folk.

Busy Friday night. Ordered seafood chowder. Exceptional. Every element cooked to perfection. Never had it better anywhere else. Highest compliments to the Chef on that section.

Beautiful RSL. I was initially a bit worried about how I was getting up those stairs 😜. There is a beautiful ground level entrance with exceptional display cabinets. Drinks were cold, staff were friendly and the food was priced really well. So many food options. Chefs roast roll had the perfect amount of gravy.

A very popular club, and a friendly bunch of staff. Anzac day was great, especially the bagpipers and drummers. Roast lunch was very filling. 😊
