About Hinterland Hotel
Relaxed quarters, some with balconies, in a low-key lakeside hotel offering a bistro & a sports bar. Set in a shopping area less than 1 km from the Pacific Motorway, this straightforward hotel along Clear Island Lake is 1.6 km from Nerang train station and 12 km from Surfers Paradise Beach. Informal rooms, some with exterior entrances, offer flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, as well as tea and coffeemaking facilities. Upgraded rooms add balconies with lake views, and suites also have kitchens. Parking is complimentary. Amenities include a relaxed bistro with outdoor seating, and a sports bar and lounge. There's also an indoor play area, and a game room with PlayStation consoles.

Went for mother's day lunch and I had the rump (medium) same as my father. Mum had the chicken avocado dish wich apparently the the chicken was dry and my partner had the Thai chicken salad that was mainly crispy noodle and dry chicken. As for the medium cooked rumps... cooked is actually a bit rich because my steak was bleeding when it come out and more like a rare steak bordering on blue... I complained that it was not cooked to medium and was offered another meal or a refund.... I chose the refund otherwise I would've been eating by my self... Had to chase up the refund too. As for my father's, his steak was rare as well, not as rare as mine so he ate around the edges and the dog enjoyed more steak than he did. Service was quick, maybe to quick in my case . Wouldn't recommend but if u do go and want a medium steak I'd order it well done! Unfortunately no photos wich I regret as well. UPDATE! NO REFUND RECEIVED AFTER A WEEK!

We no longer live in the Gold Coast but frequently come back to visit. Whenever we are here we like to catch up with friends and family. This usually involves around 30 of us. We have had quite a few of these catch ups here, the last one on Saturday night. Nothing is too much of a hassle, despite the large group. The staff are amazingly friendly. Would recommend to anyone!!!!

We go once a week for dinner with friends. The service is great Alison is great at making sure all the meals are right and is very friendly. The only downside lately we have noticed is there is no colouring in pictures, pencils or a sharpener for the children to use. We were getting pictures each week and the pencils are blunt with no sharpener. The past 2 visits there isn't take away boxes to take leftover home with us. Would love to see a few new cocktails on the menu.

Thought we’d try this hotel as I’m new to the area so made a reservation. Walked in and the place was practically empty. Approached the bar to let the staff know we had a booking. Was met with a very rude and abrupt woman. She took us to our table. I went to sit down and found 2 pieces of broken glass under our table. I took them to the bar, she didn’t seem to care about it. I went to the bar to order. It was unattended. A guy (think manager) came to serve me then this woman reappeared and said “I’ll do it”. Upon taking my dinner order and drinks she was very rude and abrupt. Not a good attitude for customer service. Thankfully the meals were lovely and the young man who bought us the meals and worked the floor was so much nicer and a credit to the hotel.

There are more misses than hits that have been experienced here.
Hit: Met the lovely Tia at the bar when getting a drink. She was super friendly and chatty. She shared with us what the local gems are and recommended some places to visit. Compliments to her awesome customer service.
The bar was a chill place to relax and the pool table added to the fun experience.
Overnight hotel stay experience was a mixed experience.
The room and sheets were clean. The pillows were nice and the bed was comfy for a good nights rest. The room fittings was modern and the power points had a USB plug to charge your devices straight from.
Here are misses that were experienced. After confirming our booking, we found a discount code for a better rate for the room. However the service staff on the follow up call refused to match the price and insisted that the rate I confirmed previously was the best price possible. This is first experience where the best rate possible was not offered after highlighting it.
The room has many funny quirks and here is our list:
1. Kettle is 0.9L. This is the smaller kettle ever seem in all our travels.
2. The hot water tap head in the shower was loose. OMG! It was hard to adjust the temperature and to turn the water off properly.
3. The bath towel gathers up each time, the toilet door is opened.
4. The shower door and the toilet door will slam into each other. So please remember to close the shower door after existing it.
5. The overhead lamp shade is too large and will hit your head if you are 1.7 m tall. My partner in the photo is 1.55 m .
6. Could not find the switch to the overhead spot light as we checked in after sun down. It was only in the morning when we moved the curtains that we discovered it
7. There was only 1 chair in the room and we fought over who should sit on it to have our food. The next day we then discovered more chairs in the balcony that we could have brought in as recommended by the staff.
8. There is still lack of table space to put our items and to eat our food. We ended up sitting on the bed to eat. There is a lot of space along the wall for more tables
I hope the managing team will pick up on these quirks and rectify them.

The food here is sensational for pub food. The steak sandwich with fries was delicious, and the beef pie was even better. Packed full of juicy, well seasoned, pulled beef with just the right amount of gravy. The pastry was also top-notch. The accompanying mashed peas tasted like real peas that had been cooked and coarsely mashed instead of your canned version, and the potato mash was smooth and buttery. The gravy was also great. The chips that came with the steak sandwich were not as crispy as some but whatever they'd been fried in was a real winner. On the top end of cost for pub food but the quality took it over the line. Nearly forgot to mention the onion rings.....coated in the crispiest thinnest batter and fried to bring out the sensational onion sweetness.
Front of House, Alison, was also so friendly, helpful and attentive without being over the top.

The best business I’ve come across, we have had no power and kids at home and was so hot and bothered and come here for a few drinks to get out of the house and get some food and the staff here were so helpful and accompanying to our needs with even supplying help for the kids with a blanket for the cold aircon. 110% recommend!

Tamara and manager (Indian man) rude as. Have been a local for years and I don’t appreciate being treated like a peasant but the staff who should know A LOT better. Thanks team!

Staff were very helpful, Room was clean.
But the Motel need maintenance & way to many stairs, no lifts

My Dad came out to Aus for a holiday from the UK. All the family, Grandkids, great grandkids etc. Came here for Sunday lunch. The service we got from the lady who was behind the bar (didn't get her name. Long hair tied back, mature) was absolutely Amazing. The steak was cooked just the way we liked. Cannot fault. The only downfall was the guy on the guitar.... Couldn't sing a note, Advice!... Please don't get him back lol 😆 Overall..My Dad had a great day as we all did.

It was my first visit to this hotel and the food was great. I then went for a flutter. The same lady that served us for dinner and was in the gaming room,her name was Rose. She was absolutely beautiful. Service was great and she was so nice and polite. Thank you Rose

I have dinner here once a week. Usually the rissoles (excellent) or the chicken schnitty (also excellent). Tonight I was served by young Millie, who I must say was friendly and efficient, AND…. had the best manners of any “young person” in recent memory!!

Great hotel spacious 3 bedroom unit, friendly and helpful staff- food from restaurant delivered to room was quick and delicious- great 2 days . Only thing that would be great is having the ability to connect phone to tv to watch movies of choice from Netflix etc. .

First time here, service was amazing I will definitely come back. Shout out to Sen assistant manager he made us feel so welcome honestly that's how you keep customers coming back!

Eaten here many times. Staff are always friendly and they work well together. Food quality is good and meals are fast. Have not stayed in the Hotel

Don’t know what’s in the water at this place but all of the staff at the sports bar today apart from the young girl were rude as!! They need some lessons on how to be kind let alone professional in their workplace. Witnessed tables around me sending their food back to the kitchen because it was inedible.

Can't flaw anything as it was great food, well cooked, tasty sauces, good value for what you get. Excellent family orientated atmosphere, heaps of areas to sit to pick your vibe. Excellent value for drinks! My husband and I are going to a different pub every weekend to experience and we are going to critique so this is our first. What a great start!

Busy night, not everything went to plan but the staff tried to do everything they could. Food was fantastic. Definitely happy to head here again!

Bought a coffee and waited for it to be delivered to our table for half an hour which never came,
Asked a rude old barmaid what happened who did not care so we went to the German club and had a great night with excellent friendly service.

The food platters were
yum and the service was impeccable. The decorations and arrangement were very well presented giving enough room to move around to mingle .
Everyone in our group enjoyed themselves listening and dancing to the live acoustic performance ! And most important everyone enjoyed their food and drinks ! The birthday celebrant enjoyed the variety of cocktails he had last night !

A couple friends and I visited the little bar located in Hinterland Hotel and we were very pleased with the service. Sen was our bartender and he made probably some of the best cocktails we’ve ever had which is crazy as we are connoisseurs when it comes to cocktails. Definitely recommend and request Sen as your bartender!!

Absolutely lovely service at the bistro. We have a lot of allergies so they were incredible and quick with accommodating our needs. Thank you for such a wonderful lunch experience! The staff are very nice and approachable as well.
