We visited for a few drinks on a couple of occasions and found the service quite good and the staff were friendly. The bar is a place where locals visit, the decor is ok, nothing fancy but the customers are friendly. There's quite a good food menu but we didn't eat here although the steaks looked really good. The next time I visit I'll definitely be trying a steak. There's a large car park at the rear of the hotel.

We stopped here for lunch today. Nice atmosphere and good service. It was not too busy and food was served quickly. There were 3 of us and we all enjoyed our meals.

Went there for the 80 tray meat raffle which ended up being about 20 at most! The rest were taken back to the kitchen!! Block from there Facebook page after raising this point aswell! Spent money there with dinner and beers, which the dinner wasn’t that good either! Dont advertise 80 meat trays if your not gonna draw them out!!

This was a lovely Pub Hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of space. It's not the Ritz, but I had no complaints. I also was pleasantly surprised by how clean and private the shared bathrooms are. It's all classic Australian architecture with super high ceilings. I will say the rooms are up a squeaky flight of stairs so it won't be suitable for disabled patrons. I did have a chuckle when I walked into our room and saw a "Michael Scott" style plasma TV. IYKYK 😂😂 The staff were very friendly, helpful, and super laid-back. It's such a vibe.

Stayed here one night and found the rooms and facilities to be very clean and the showers nice and hot. There is a little kitchen with supplies of bread, butter, spreads. Milk and juice as well. I will stay again.

So disappointing. Wine list is all manufactured wines you could get at the bottlo. You have the opportunity to showcase small local producers. Secondly, we order a special. Sat in the restaurant alone. No other customers. An HOUR later, we asked where our food was and apparently the order didn't go to the kitchen. We were the only people in the restaurant! How could you F that up????

Place is better inside than it looks from inside be outside, great large pub with restaurant, bars and beer gardens. Food however is not worth the effort and prices reflect the small sizes, doubt anything we ate today took any great culinary skill to achieve. Barman only spoke the minimum so best not to try. Reckon this would be a great Friday or Saturday night just eat somewhere else first.

Noisy, inexperienced staff and average food. We did not have high expectations and we were not disappointed on those, it was a very average experience. The place needs some experienced people running it, and a real refresh of just about everything in it

Nice breakfast, reasonably priced. Staff were awesome at accommodating our requests, made the best omelette off the menu and were happy to alter their menu for our fussy eaters.|Chocolate milkshake was divine, came with whipped cream.|Nice little playground for little ones outside.

Lovely late lunch/early at Hotel Cessnock today. Being Easter Saturday and 4pm it was wonderful to sit inside out of the heat and enjoy an early dinner. Hubby’s pulled pork burger was delicious, and the basket of fries were the light crunchy sort that make you happy. I had the prawns, tasty and tender, swimming in their little sizzling cast iron pool of garlic butter. The sourdough was perfectly toasted, light and crisp but still soft, and the best way to mop up the delicious drips of garlicky butter. Confirmed to hubby after each and every prawn just how good they were. Friendly bar staff, lovely old school pub atmosphere, snd a cold bevy were the cream on top so to speak.

I've discovered the new menu at the Cessnock hotel. I've tried the crumbed lamb cutlets special on Tuesday and really enjoyed and returned for the steak special on Wednesday, which was a hit. It's good to see a positive change in the venue with a focus on the bistro.

I have been, to this restaurant a few times and I have had great food. My family and I went last Thursday, my Nan and mum got the $12 meals their opinions on the food was good, my mum got a steak sandwich with a well done steak but wasn’t a fan of the veggies and my Nan got fish and chips and enjoyed them. I got a chicken Parmi, although the flavours were good, I was disappointed at how small it was, and the chips were average.

Had roast pork with roast vegetables, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. The roast vegetables were like rocks with hardly any centre and the broccoli and cauliflower were so hard that they must have been dipped in and out of boiling water. The only thing good on the plate was the pork, but disappointed there was no crackling! Will not return.

Grand Old pub, have not seen it for years. Reasonably priced fresh beer , but have not tried the dining room yet ? it is a well cared for historic pub . Work colleagues tell me the rooms are very good value & well appointed . Yet to stay.

Booked the hotel for 2 days. Good hospitality on the bar.(reception was closed due to public holiday) man showed us around got surprise with bigger room and plenty of beds. Wasn't expecting the room cleaning service. Free breakfast. Toilets(share) are outside of the room but neat and clean. Location wise perfect it is in heart of cessnock city. Very very good will come back again.
