What a classic.
It has been refurbished from when I was here last and wow what a difference.
Worth a drink here open fresh and cold beer.
You can sit and watch the world go by with the full open window's

We were invited to a friends party and attended, mainly in the rear garden area. Drinks were cold, service was friendly and quick, drinks were well priced. Got to tell where it's really at though. The food...everything was organised by the host via the hotels kitchen...pizza's were really really nice, and the platter of Asian style spring rolls and a-like were equally good. Put this on the list of places to eat and drink out at...relaxed atmosphere but lively enough to feel like you've been "Out-Out" Will be back for sure!

Went there and ran into a stag-do. Drinks were reasonably priced and the happy hour gave some great deals. Staff there were very reasonable and friendly. Also came back later in the night to see that they had live music, there was a man slamming the banjo like I've never seen absolutely phenomenal

We had dinner here for my Sons 30th Birthday and the food was amazing! We all really enjoyed our meals and they were above what we expected! We totally recommend this Hotel!

We had a high school reunion function over here.
The nibbles and finger food were really good and the venue even though a tad bit small was very clean and upbeat.
There was some live music as well which wasn't too shabby but over all not too bad. We enjoyed the night.

Was an awesome feed. Renovations getting done but didn’t effect the quality or services. We had a chicken parmigiana and a surf and turf. Chicken was beautiful with a fresh salad. Price was good, and the steak was cooked perfect, but the downside was the surf sauce, partner said it was a bit powdery and the price was a bit rich.

Very relaxed surroundings,handy to amenities ,Always good patrons and the staff are good.
The food is great and there's something for everyone. Pizzas are yummy .I had a nice piece of steak today (lunch) for $14.oo.Great price.
Later I'm going to Langfords for dinner because daily specials are only $10.00 and the special is Roast Turkey .

Very average accommodation .. shared bathroom was very dirty, someone left pee on toilet seat and bathroom stinks of old urine. Camping would have been a more glamorous experience. Thd pub food and entertainment was great though.

Turning into being a regular for us. Staff are fantastic and the food is consistently good quality pub fare. Lamb Shanks and chicken wings are on point.

Thursday night steak special $19.90,
Steak was flavorful and tender cooked perfectly.
Downside chips were under cooked and cold lil more salad on the plate would be good.
Staff are friendly and relaxed atmosphere,
Still worth $19.90 and would go the steak again

Quiet hotel in centre of Mackay. Can’t review accomodation as I haven’t stayed there. Meals are great. Chicken schnitzel is fantastic and huge. Very good priced meals. Not a busy place. Has a couple pool tables and the standard gaming room. |If you want a good and very reasonably priced meal and a couple of beers it’s a great place. Music bingo on Friday night is fun too.

Purchased meals but paid $25 to $30 for meals that should be $15. Sauce on parmy came from a jar, chicken was dry and burnt and topping barely there. 200g rump should have been dog food. Microwave meals would have been better.

Now I'm not one to put down any ones business or name names, however I'm absolutely disgusted when my partner and I walked in for a quite drink - a bar not an unusual scene for a drunk person walking around demanding things off staff however this person turned out to be the general manager!!! She could barley walk let alone give direction to any staff, thank you to the staff member who served us the one and only drink we purchased you sir were lovely, he kindly told my partner and I her name (Joanne) he also desperately felt as though the particular company should be dealing with her behavior accordingly. I believe licensing should be dealing with person immediately !

Not enough bar maids the girls that work there are good but bot enough its busy and the feeds are good but bot enough people tending the premises

Just had the parmy with mash and veg. Could barely finish it. The parmy was thick and juicy with a slight crunch, the cheese was perfectly grilled golden cheese with plenty of ham, veggies where cooked to perfection with real mash. Good price with great friendly service.

What a little hidden gem this place is.
Nice and clean. Great food. The new chef is amazing and friendly and the food was fantastic.
Travis was the staff member on in the bar and he was welcoming as well as good at recommending meals. Definitely a good addition to the staff.
Tuesday nights it is buy 1 main meal and the 2nd is free. Kids eat free Saturdays. Definitely do yourself a favor and drop in for a meal.

I love a great pub meal, but this one was far better than expected. I had a chicken dish, can't remember what it's name was, (the dish, not the chicken). Absolutely fabulous. Beer was cold, chicken was hot, service was great. The meals are priced quite well for what you get, and most mains were under the $25 mark, with the 'extras' included, i.e. sauce, chips etc. Great Pub, Great Atmosphere. 81/2 out of 10.

I have actually never stayed at Hotel Mackay but I can only speak to their hospitality, or lack there of. |During cyclone debbie myself and two other backpackers were stuck in Mackay. Our hotel room we were staying in had booked up for the next few nights we wanted, so we had to look elsewhere for a place to stay (see my review for International Lodge Motel if you like, nothing bad to say about them). We went on booking.com and saw that Hotel Mackay, which was close lovation-wise, had availability and was the closest thing available to our price range (all the midrange hotels had been booked up by this point due to the cyclone). We arrived the next morning after checking out of International Lodge Motel, to Hotel Mackay at 10am. The lady behind the bar gave us a strange look when we said we had a booking, she told us "no you don't- we don't have any availability " we said yes, we had booked last night in booking.com. Turns out, she had multiple backpackers staying there but was waiting for these backpackers to wake up and let her know their plans. Yes, I am a backpacker myself but not the type who sleeps in past 10 (and probably partied too hard to put them in that state). So this put us in a spot with nowhere to stay, and she was turning away guaranteed business in lieu of keeping guests who had not had the foresight to book ahead. Luckily, Geckos Rest hostel came to our rescue and had beds available. It is disappointing that this business (Hotel Mackay) rewards their lazy customers who cannot inform them of their plans, and turns away customers who intend to stay and pay. |

I enjoy playing pool here although I have never seen more than half a dozen people in the place which is kinda boring. Nice decor, no complaints about service, just needs a welcoming vibe I think. Drinks are a little expensive too.

Had lunch here the other day . It was great, the food was great price and the staff were friendly .||They have a great wood fire pizza oven that make fresh hot pizza to your liking .||Thumbs up to a great lunch.||Lunch menu is $13 great value I today's market. ||You order at the bar but it has table cloths and you don't see that much.||The food was quick and good size meals. Basic lunch menu but the night menu is good to nice selection of food.||And the staff are very friendly.||Very enjoyable lunch time

Good News is - The service from the lady that served me was great and can't fault her. The pub area down stairs looks great.||||Bad News is - Honestly if you don't mind using a shared bathroom (total of 4 toilets and 2-3 working showers to be shared between 10-14 rooms) with others in the fear of others walking in on you, then this is the place for you as there is no locks on the shower stalls or to the bathroom as a whole as they are broken and you run the risk of some random walking in on you to use the other shower stall. There needs to be a serious overhaul done to the bathroom and toilet facilities to make it more functional, working and practical. When I stayed there, I kept thinking of how all my friends that are parents keep telling me how that they never get any piece and quiet, even when they are having a shower.||||Kept hearing the banging of a door all night as well. The Bedroom wasnt too bad but no glass and jug of water in the fridge. No coffee facilities in the room - because some of us enjoy having a morning coffee in our pajamas in the morning.

Beautiful food and great service with a smile. We will be back again and will be telling friends. Found our new lunch local. Large meals, don't be fooled by the prices. Friendly and welcoming the new team are obviously changing the name for Hotel Mackay.

Any pub that has unlimited free pool tables gets 5 stars from me. It's nice and spacious. Looks like a good kitchen. The whole place is very clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and professional and the punters don't mind having a chat with a stranger.
