Your typical is travelling Pub, with a strange layout. Lots of different areas but the downfall is that the pool table takes up too much room to support live music. Otherwise a cool joint.

Wow can this venue attract some grubs out of the Cardiff creek starting in the smokers section of the venue. Interesting selection for the range of chicken schnitzel on the menu too, they're very creative.

Worst pub experience. Food dry and tasteless. Interior run down and toilets were very grotty. Staff went on break and our food sat there waiting to be delivered to the table. It was cold. Don’t waste your time. Go somewhere else

We had my birthday dinner there, ashame dinning room was quite on the night..served very quickly and the meal was hot when we received them together...We both enjoyed our meals, they had a special prices on Different brand beers, we chose VB. We have taken family there before and they also said their dinner was great and also a good price.. hopefully we plan in April to return, this time I plan to try the meal Chris choose on the day..5 stars on all at Iron horse hotel, an enjoyable night. My wife often for work travels NSW and she said their prices for same meal is half the price of meals she had on the trips, their cocktails also are near half the price starting at $10. Haven't seen that price for a long time, PO start just under $20.

We arrived for Lunch at 12.40pm we Didn’t order lunch specials as my daughter and I thought we would treat ourselves to two nice steaks! One with Veg and one with Salad. So $72.00 and 40 minutes later our Meals came out and I must say Coming from a family of Chefs we aren’t upperty critics as we know how hard a good chef works! But Wow Iron Horse Inn our meals were very Sub Standard to say the least!.. First thing I noticed was My Mash potato was a strange colour not white and fluffy as mash should be.. It was very dry and crumbly and tasted like it was left overs from the night before’s service!.. The Cauliflower and Broccoli weren't much better and the corn had a sourness to it that was enough for me to leave aside! The “packet”creamy Creamy Garlic sauce I had for my steak was a disappoint but at least it softened the tough dry steak! Medium to well and not very Well done does make a difference! Did we say anything? No…We didn’t have the time anyway to wait another 40 minutes for a replacement..And we weren’t looking for a refund either… We just wanted to sit and have a nice lunch together and catch up! We should have known something wasn’t quite right because the place was empty and it was the Middle of what should be a busy Friday lunchtime. I hope the Chef finds His/Her passion for food again as it’s clear they don’t have much pride in their meals! Even if it’s it’s just good old Pub Grub, because this was borderline appalling and I would have been embarrassed to let those meals leave the kitchen!..

Walked into bistro and immediately smelt a smell similar to urine. It wasn't a nice odour in a dining room before a planned meal. I would have left immediately but I had two young hungry children. We sat at our table and used the QR code on the table to order 3 drinks and 3 meals. Ten minutes later no drinks even though the bar was about 2 metres from our table and a near empty dining room. In fact, the food arrived before our drinks🤷‍♂️ Before the meal, I removed the fork from the cutlery sleeve to find the fork end covered in hardened red sauce like Tomato sauce which also soaked into the napkin. Absolutely disgusting🤢 I showed the waitress who couldn't believe it and was apologetic. Also, remember some person has eaten with that fork prior to me. It's a shame because the waitress was polite and apologetic and offered some cake for the kids for our unfortunate experience, but we left asap after eating. As for the meals, they were okay with no issues.

Very poor service. Not that busy and can see why. Food taking much to long to prepare and deliver to the customer and then not worth the wait.

The lunch I had here was underwhelming and failed to impress. The food was of poor standard and I couldn't finish it. It appears the establishment has gone downhill. I will not be returning.

The food at the Iron Horse Inn is superb and very well priced....my wife and I love eating there! Quite offen you see pictures of restaurant meals that look nothing like what is served...but not at Iron Horse...meals are both presented and taste superb!

Nice atmosphere and the meals were a decent size. Great value for money. I visited the Iron Horse on a weekday and the food came out fairly quickly considering the amount of people here. The staff were also nice and friendly. Keep up the great work!

My husband and I had our Christmas Lunch at the pub. The experience was outstanding. The staff were exceptional, friendly, courteous and attentive. The food was amazing, there was just so much and we were encouraged to take home what we couldn’t eat. We will tell all our friends about your service and hope we can do it again next Christmas. Thank you so much, very well done.

Me and my friends call around 8.20pm and try to take advanced order but person who attend the call did not took the order and ask come in pub and order. We reached around 9.45 coz we were traveling long way. After we reached to the pub chefs were almost done closing. Then we ask to Zee can we still take orders, she said yes but she was not happy, actually rude. We apologise many times that we are late she didn’t reply a word. Unfortunately not with us but she was really rude to someone else in pub. Food was 3 out of 5 but zee was really rude and annoying. As a customer we deserve smile service I guess. Other bar staff was nice he offered us water. Thanks to chef who stayed until late.

I would absolutely avoid this place. I wish I could score it a zero, Came for lunch on Sunday. As soon as we walked in it smelt strongly of urine. This should have been our que to turn around and walk out. We ordered from the QR menu on the table. It was not busy at all, and we were still waiting an hour later. I finally went to ask where our meals were to be told they only had 2 chefs and one wasn’t from this establishment. I don’t think it would have taken a single chef more than half an hour to make 2 burgers, a salad and a pasta but sure ok. This is when one of the group (of 4) was told they didn’t have the lamb or the dukkah for her salad. This should have been reported when the kitchen got the order, not an hour later. We were offered a round of drinks and a refund on our meals, we absolutely accepted. I will also point out at this stage that upon getting the refund we discovered that we had been charged much more than the menu price when ordering on the QR. We did stay as the meals were almost ready by this stage. My burger came out and the bacon and avocado were missing!! Just as well I already had my money back. The girl serving us was apologetic and had to deal with every else’s complaints too. As I said, the smell of urine should have been our que to leave.

It really value for money. I have been around so many places and this is one of the best. It is family oriented, but when the crowd comes, it gets rowdy. A typical weekday crowd, complimentary sauce, free flow i believe.

Had lunch today with a friend. Got the smallest snitzel ever with at least 15 chips and had to pay extra 2.50 for gravy. Would not recommend. Think it was a child's meal.

Had dinner here on a hot day with my nan 84 years old spent 74 dollars on food and drink either of us had a phone on us so kindly asked the people to call a cab the manager blonde hair blatantly refused while a younger worker pulled out her phone said she’d call a cab to pick us up and to sit at the taxi bay so we did waited 30 minutes for nothing to come in other words no one called a cab for us it was 32 degrees outside my poor nan had to sit in the heat while I ran home in the heat to get my phone and call a cab just to go back and pick her up absolutely ridiculous nice venue run by horrible people not going back that’s for sure

Great place to eat. Sadly as a celiac I cannot eat the schnitzels but they make them on site and they look and smell amazing. The wife raved about hers for a god 20 minutes so must have been good.

First time for having dinner here, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the place has a relaxed atmosphere. Had the spinach and ricotta ravioli and it was delicious.

Came on Saturday night for two. About half full. Got parma and schnitzel. Pros 1. Large servings Cons 1. One should not wait 50 minutes for a parma in a pub. This was a deal breaker. 2. Chicken was dry. 3. The pub is organised in such a way that the smell cigarette smoke is very perceptible in the bistro area. This was an unpleasant experience.

Amazing service, Zee the Assistant Manager was great. She came around and made sure the meals were perfect as ordered - the rump was cooked perfectly. The loaded fries are certainly tasty! Thank you to all the staff, you made our belated Christmas party a great event. See you again soon 👌🏻

7pm on a drizzly Wednesday night. This area of Newy is pretty dismal anyway, and the Iron Horse didn't do much to improve it, in spite of claims that it has been revamped. (I can't imagine how it was before.) The beer on tap had at least a couple of decent drops, and I had a Balter XPA from the friuendly barmaid in the cosy (but empty) rear bar before considering the food choices. The adjoining "bistro" is a huge, featureless room apparently designed for not-too-extravagant functions. At least it was very clean, the furniture was new and the motel carpet was ungummed. Standard pub grub on the menu. I opted for the deep-fried barramundi. It arrived promptly enough. The fish was horribly dry and almost as tough as steak. The chips were good and the salad was fine if unimaginative. The waiter did ask about the food as she was clearing up, and I reported my findings. "I'll tell the chef", she said, and that was the end of that. I see that this place has had generally great reviews, so I might have hit the food on an off night (should there be any off nights?) But as a venue, it's pretty much a dull suburban, no-surprises pub. Maybe that's all most people want, but hardly worth 4 stars.
