Wouldn’t go here, establishment discriminates against woman. Very unjustified behaviour from the staff, it’s 2022 stop sexualising woman’s bodies and asking people to leave because you deem them dressed inappropriately- you’re a crusty sports bar, get a grip.

Worst steakhouse in Melbourne. Porchetta was smaller than a McDonald's cheese burger. Was cold soggy and skin was sweaty and rubbery.
Wont be seeing me again. No wonder a 180 seater restaurant on had 30 people.
I give it 2 months.

When we stepped into the venue we were greeted by a very friendly and professional staff member at the bar. We proceeded upstairs to the beautifully appointed bistro and ordered a special of blue eye cod on ratatouille with crispy fried kale. Beautiful dish. On the strength of that we returned for gnocchi Gorgonzola and an enormous beast of a Greek inspired Parma called the Adonis. I will say no more. Check out my photo and do yourself a favour and try it or one of the other special reasonably priced parmas on a Wednesday. Whole venue is attractive with comfortable seating and a deck in warmer weather for outdoor dining. Lots of convenient parking available.

We were 13 people for Dinner on the 1.7.1. I was very disappointed,the chicken risotto was small it was entree size $ 22 . Calamaries served cold , steak $ 38 had to order chips seperate . Chicken Parma was burnt . I have to say I would not recommend it to any one . It was a Friday Night and it was empty . No wonder with that food offer and prices . Bring back the Family Restaurant because you can't compet with the Steak house up the Road .

We should of read the reviews first, big mistake. Meals took over an hour to arrive, had to listen to tables full of bogans swearing and carrying on, don't take your kids there it's not family friendly, meals were very average, no wonder this place has changed hands so many times. No pulled pork, no eye fillet, no idea. Witnessed a table of 5 and another table of 2 just walk out and im proud to say we headed off 6 people that were about to walk in for dinner. Very Disappointing to say the least.

Went just for coffee and cake and to catch up with a friend. Cake $14 with a dob of cream and a sliced strawberry. Nice but way over priced. Coffee was so bitter it couldn't be drunk. Very disappointed. Wont be back

Went for Bistro. Closed up tight! Apparently, since COVID. Tried two others in Heidelberg. SAME!

We had parmas, there was some spice we couldn't quite pick in the sauce and unfortunately it overpowered the whole parma. Worst parma ever. The 3 of us couldn't eat it. Friendly Staff

We had lunch at the Est bar and the service of the barmaid Kristen was arrogant and very rude.This person should not be in the customer service industry. After she finished her shift the staff were fantastic and apologised for her bad behaviour .

We greatful that we celebrate our son's 2nd birthday in this place everyone was impressed with the food (tasty good size and reasonable). cleanliness; excellent (toilet also the play room for kids) and the best service the way they look after us there, it's so amazing. So impressive we highly recommended this steakhouse everything is perfect for me. Good job guy's and thank you see you nxt year!! :) god blessed

To the extremely rude Asian lady that was supposed to be manning the cashiers box, I asked her to cash my pokie ticket, she rudley said the change machine is around the corner, and as I have never been here before I didn't know where it was , she was so rude, as part of the cashiers job is to cash your customers tickets . we will never return here , you should be fired for treating customers so poorly

This pub's a beautiful fine dining experience if you love commercial TV coming from as many screens as you can count.
Last night was T-bone Special night too-- and if you bring along a mini-chainsaw you won't have any probs at all with getting a bit of meat to to eat. And don't ask for cracked pepper.
On the other hand some of the staff were very helpful and friendly.

This is the place for you if you don't mind feral kids running around unsupervised in a Macca's like atmosphere. Talking of kids, beware of the kids menu prices ... you could end up paying $13 for melted cheese and tomatoe sauce if you are not careful. You will make good use of the salt and pepper shakers on the table as our food was tasteless to just 'average' at above average prices. However, the service is friendly and efficient and plenty of car parking; and TV monitors to ignore the people you are dining with.

This is a great place to go after work. The lamb shanks were tender and delicious and I would recommend the saganaki. The staff are also very nice.

The pokies is usually pretty quiet with a middle class to older group kinda RSL vibe which is settling compared to most other venues closer to city or that I know with a rough crowd and men that can make it not so pleasant for us women at times. They offer free coffee with soy & almond options although a few years back I was questioned apon asking for a free coffee by a female older employer which is not her job to worry who gets free coffees especially considering this is my families local venue & we've frequented for over 5 years. I haven't been in a long while till tonight, there is a big selection of slot games. I often hear it's difficult to win there but i guess that all varies. Young English man at bar was friendly.

The lamb shanks were very tender, and melted in my mouth. The portion size was generous. The staff were friendly and professional. We had a very nice dining experience and will definitely come back.
When you order a Parma, make sure it's theSupremo!!

The bistro is only available for private functions now, gaming venue downstairs is open late, staff pleasant, nice coffee late at night.
Sadly they have security that are useless, girl sits in on the lounge chairs talking on her mobile the whole time, wouldn't call that very secure especially at 3am in the morning, wouldn't go on my own if that's what's meant to keep the venue safe.

Terrific food - very large dining area which can get noisy if there are lots of kids, which there often are. Very good for families. Great service, and really good food.

Terrible food which arrived 15 minutes apart, one child’s meal forgotten completely, noisy and frankly I don’t understand the attraction. Never again. (I never write reviews - but my disappointment was such that I couldn’t not on this occasion.)

Somebody has to let you all know that the Bistro here has not been open since COVID lockdown. A shame really it was once a great place for a family dinner. However drop in the main bar (not the pokies) for some merriment.

Pub food on a busy Australia Day, definitely wasn't looking forward to it. What a pleasant surprise, the food warrants 3 stars, impressed too that not ordered together it all came out at the same time.
I gave it an extra star for atmosphere (child friendly with playroom and face painter available) and very pleasant staff. Such a change from backpacker service, these 'kids' aren't hospitality professionals but they make up for it in politeness and attentiveness. Anyone says 'pub food' to me again, this is my place of choice!!

Overpriced. That applies to beverages and food. Unpleasant staff, not ideal given the industry is hospitality.
Absolutely every other establishment in Ivanhoe beats it hands down, and as an hotel, I would rate it 2 out of 10.

Not very impressed booked dinner and when we arrived it apparently was children's night so we sat outside so we could hear each other talk. Had to ask when our dinner would arrive after waiting for some time. Would have to think twice before we go there again.

Despite fact there was only one other group (of 3!) in attendance, we had a great tine. Service was fantastic, Virgil is very attentive and so lovely. Plus he cook's up a good snack (chicken tenders and chips)

Atmosphere was lacking however, as we didn't have to wait to play pool (we were the only ones playing yay!), and the Tigers won.... I reckon it's worth 4 stars (minus 1 star due to no other person joining us in a chorus of the Richmond song.

Love this place. Sunken level dining with huge curved glass viewing to green residences. Great big servings, prompt service and reasonable prices(pub/bistro value is always good). Choice of carwlls or standard chairs and licensed if course.

I went there with my mother on the cheap steak night, which I was excited about. Unfortunately, the service wasn't too good. They mixed up our orders, putting my mother's steak with my sides. I only realised halfway through the meal and let the waiter know. Fortunately, they gave us free dessert, which they nearly mixed up as well. I haven't been back since and don't plan on going back again, especially for a full-priced meal (they're so overpriced)!
I gave them three stars because they tried and I got free dessert out of it.

It’s basically been cactus here since covid. It beggars belief what it’s become. It’s basically just a sports bar, TAB and gaming room. All pretence of being family pub has gone as the back dining room, which was once quite nice, is all closed up including the back terrace. It’s all rather sad but presumably the owners are looking to redevelop it here, hopefully nicely in such a good area. We had a couple of drinks today and a couple of pizzas which were surprisingly edible. The young barman was doing a good job here. He deserves a pay rise

I think I've heard the saying "Typical pokies pub." This place fits the bill. Food was ok. Went to play the pokies and some gambler gives me a mouthfull because I nearly played his machine. Staff asked my wife and I to leave because we upset him. Poor form, you can see what is important to them.

I hosted a family function at the Ivanhoe Hotel and highly recommend it! The staff were really attentive and helped me with some unexpected guests, there was a balloon guy for the kids and the food was delicious. I received so many compliments from family and friends on what a great event it was. The terrace area has great atmosphere. Thanks again to the team for making the day so special.

I have lived nearby for a total of about 2 years now and ventured in to the hotel for the first time on the weekend. Fantastic food, I had the roast beef, the serving was huge with a massive volume of fresh vegetables. The staff are enthusiastic and always willing to help.
Upon leaving I said to my partner 'we need to come here more often'!

I give -1 .. because I can't give a rating because they cancelled a booking for a large group without communicating with the person that booked it. Poor management!! If they can't manage their booking system, one only can wonder what their service and kitchen can deliver.........

If like us you haven't been for more than a year give it another go. Huge improvement the grease served on our last visit. Glad we'r have it another go. We'll be back. Great seating on the lower level of the bistro - far enough away from the kids play area. Friendly staff

Great for kids with the play area. The food is really top notch, tastes fantastic and is well presented. The only thing that is disappointing is that the dining area doesn't open until 5pm, so getting there earlier and settling in with young kids so they can have a play before dinner is delayed.
Otherwise great, relaxing, easy and the staff are wonderful.

Good spot for a family feed. Kids entertainment on Fridays good and their Christmas night quite fun. Staff do a great job dodging the kids. Menu is standard pub fare and designed for swift delivery when busy, so pretty basic.

Edit: 17 May 2019 - Dined with my daughter & grand-daughter tonight. Magician Night: great fun for the little ones. And what a surprise: I had the best steak sandwich I've ever had in a pub in 49 years. The chef here takes classic pub cuisine to a whole new level. Very impressed.

Food was good and wine list decent but don't be fooled by the name Family Bistro or the kid-friendly specials...The only way for families to enter from the car park is a steep, exposed concrete ramp with dim lighting. Meanwhile, gamblers are welcomed in at convenient ground level with warmth and lights. This is NOT a family friendly venue.

Excellent service and staff. My mother-in-law forgot what she had ordered and was half way through eating someone else's meal before she realised. The staff were excellent about it. They quickly prepared a replacement meal without making anyone feel bad about the mistake and didn't want us to pay anything extra either. Good range of food on the menu and very well prepared.

Comfortable surroundings. Friendly staff, fresh tasty food. Very nice bruschetta, roast of the day & reasonable coffee depending on which staff member makes it. Chris makes a terrific coffee. Has a good memory and has very pleasant manner. Will go back. Price reasonable too.

Young worker last name stuckey/ Bottomley serves me with the upmost professionalism, always has a smile and small talks. He is fast at meeting my needs and is of great character. Absolute asset to the company and is manager material.

Been taking mum to the pokies for 25 years there although we live in Glenroy. Today at 1.00pm Sunday, my elderly mother won a minor on the machine which disappeared, she called the young girl who was juggling a few patrons simply said bad luck, I can’t do anything about it and walked off. I personally will be calling The gaming head office to complain about the staff & the venue. I’ll never set foot there again. A young man employed there walking around looking like he was on something and needs proper training. The toilet lights werent working a few weeks ago which was a trip hazard for the elderly, staff back stab & gossip, I’m appalled

Ambiance nice .. Meals: not enough variety - vegetarians not really catered for, no seniors meals, no roasts, it wants to be a gastro pub .. but the whole dining experience leaves a lot to be desired as does the over inflated pricing.

Meals were really tasty, fresh and of good value.
Service was friendly and professional.
Only down side was the price of wine, higher than you would expect from a hotel.
