What a top little pub. I've driven past dozens of times, but stopped in for dinner with a couple of locals at their request. Our meals were delicious, my schnitty was the best I've had in years! The service was fast and friendly, and the beers ice cold. Definitely be back!

We stopped there on Friday 26/2/16 for dinner. Great atmosphere, the publican and locals made us feel very welcome. The food was great, I had Chili Prawns with pasta and my fiance had Chicken Boscaiola, it was delicious and the serving size was great. Well worth stopping in. We will be back for sure. |Regards Adrian and Paula.

Went on a Wednesday for Birthday Dinner, group of 10, no one else in the restaurant. Meals did come out all together which is nice for a group booking but waited quite a while for dishes to be cleared which never happened so we did it our selves so we could do birthday cake. No spoons, plates, serviettes etc were offered for cake, it was interesting to say the least. Cake everywhere😂. Service overall was substandard. Literally the bare minimal.

Well where do I start, went to order food stood there For 10 minutes before anyone notice me. Placed my order then the girl wiped my order out.Had to do it all again fare enough. Couldn’t get the till open no change said she would bring it out.(Yeah Right) 2 hrs went by no food and before I was notice. They had one bar staff on and I was offered a free drink.. The chef came out and said our meal would be ready in 15 minutes. 30 minutes later it arrived. The food was absolutely terrible overcooked steak that tasted like an old shoe. They put the chicken tenders in the microwave. I could here and see them do it. Couldn’t even make a salad. The food was way overpriced and disgusting. Never again!!!!!!!!

We had two families (11 total) staying nearby and the Khartoum was highly recommended for dinner. Thanks to the COVID situation they put us in the dining room all by ourselves which felt very decedent! Food was plentiful and delicious and between our large group we tried a wide variety of the menu and it was all fantastic! Highly recommended and if we’re in the area we’ll definitely be back.

We eat here almost every week. Good food, big serves, daily specials and good variety. They have a kids menu and a few gluten free options. The staff are friendly and there is plenty of seating.

We'd heard great things about this place so we were keen to check it out. We decided to head in on a Wednesday night as we were told they have chicken schnitzel at a good price. |Walking in, people stared at us, we're not locals & we were new faces. It made us feel a bit awkward & uncomfortable. When our food came out, the order was slightly wrong, not wanting to wait again I accepted the meal. Chicken was really nice & fresh & traditional pub gravy was awesome!|Unfortunately it is the atmosphere at this pub that was a major turn off, lots of loud banter & swearing from other patrons, one of whom made it clear he couldn't wait for us to leave so he could let his dog off the back of ute. |We decided upon leaving that we would not be returning to this place. Thumbs down for this one 👎🏼

We came there for lunch today. Bar service was terrible. She spent most of her time in store room. Hardly smiled and not very welcoming. Tooheys new btasted bad from tap. I had to find bar staff in store room. For other customer waiting bistro staff had to call out to bar staff. But she did this in aggressive way. On bar sign says lunch Monday to Friday 12 to 2pm . With a different menu. On board mentions closed on Monday & Tuesday. And on menu no mention of these meals mentioned on bar sign. When food came mash potato was fridge cold. And carrots and peas Luke warm. No apologies when meal taken back. We both had rump. We tasted both and there was a big difference between them. Also no lettuce in salad. Sliced Celery leaves was used instead. Very disappointed. We thought we would revist, as previously we enjoyed the food and friendliness. I wish we tried somewhere eles for a birthday lunch.

This is a great country pub. Cold beer and very, very good food. The standout was Tracey the bartender. This lady is a machine. The place was very busy and she was absolutely flat out but maintained her smile and happy demeanor. Give that lady a pay rise.

Service attractions. Took an hour to get a meal because they had a big group coming and would not take my order until they had theirs in case there waS none left. Food was nice when it eventually came. Others waited even longer than me.

Nice atmosphere, great food, reasonably priced & well portioned. Nice simplistic beer garden in an old world pub. TAB & KENO but no pokies. The staff & locals are friendly & the beer is cold.

Local stopover for weekend dirt bikers with a standard fare pub lunch. Nice outside seating area. Good service and friendly bunch of people inside. I got the steak and unfortunately it was tough and average, would stick to schnitzels which looked the goods. Mains were $26 burgers around $20.

I’m doing the grand tour of local pubs (it’s a hard task but worth the pain😀), and found the Khartoum has to have possibly the best mixed grill around. For $40 (March 2023), you get a sizeable steak, 2 big sausages, mushrooms, chips, bacon, two (perfect) fried eggs, grilled tomatoes, a rissole (yum) and onion rings. Plus I’m told (by my wife who sat opposite), the chicken schnitty was outstanding (home made crumbs). Washed down by a pint, it’s a gastronomic experience. Recommended highly. Friendly staff too👍🏻 Now for the rest of the menu ……….

Great snitty! My partner had a steak, all cooked well with friendly service. Little hidden secret this beauty of a pub. Will defiantly return as soon as possible when next up this way, tempted to stay the night as the beer tasted great and was super cold!!|

First time to the Kitchener Pub. Was a pleasant experience and would recommend. I was one of dozens there of the 2 wheeled kind (dirt). Beer was cold and tucker was very good. Staff were very friendly and the pub was very clean. Well done guys, I'll be back soon!!!

Fantastic meals. Schnitzel with vegetables, schnitzel with salad and chips. A variety of toppings. I had prawn cutlets. Six prawn cutlets cooked to perfection with salad chips and tartare sauce. Then there was crumbed cutlets with vegetables. Perfectly cooked. |Very friendly atmosphere. Pool table is in the restaurant but that makes for the great atmosphere. |Wait staff also friendly. Highly recommend this for everyone. |My granddaughter was able to get gluten free meal too. |

Drove from Taree to Cessnock for a day out, while shopping we asked a local to recommend somewhere for lunch she instantly said the Kitchener Hotel 5 mins away. She was SO RIGHT, hubby had chicken boscaiola flavour, flavour, flavour with an ample amount of sauce. I chose the beef nachos and again generous amounts of beef, mashed avocado, sour cream, grilled cheese and home cut tomato and red onion salsa. Needless to say we will happily return and stay the night next time, maybe pick a smaller meal haha and make room for some dessert. 10 out of 10 Helen and Linda.

Best mixed grill we've had for quite a while, no complaints with the chicken schnitzel, friendly staff, meals were quickly delivered, parking out front & vacant area across the road.|There is no Optus phone service but that is not hotels fault.

Absolutely worth the drive out to this historic gem in the bush. A good number of locals were in enjoying lunch or a cold brew in a gathering of friends and family. A reasonably priced menu did not disappoint. Wonderful outdoor spaces to relax.
