Worst place I have stayed in Australia. No bistro,no tab,400 pokies,nothing else.looks like a set of public toilets.have fridge trays as security. Lady manager rude obnoxious. DON'T GO HERE.also leave 50 key deposit,if you want to leave early you lose your 50,as pub if you call it 1 reception opens 10.

We just stayed on night to drive to Rocky on the nextday. Room was okay. We meet some cockroaches and we found da cup of coffee in the microwave. The soap as a treatment was already open in the bag. The bathroom was clean just of the spiders in the corners. Staying for one night is fine but not for longer

We arrived at night and it looked like somewhere people get murdered. Very run down units out the back of a very run down pub. The room was shabby and there was no smoke alarm. The bathroom window was missing a slat from the louvers and had fingerprints next to it as if someone had tried to climb through. The linen seemed clean though and the shower was hot and steady.

Top notch pub. Super Cold beer and friendly staff. Friday night meats trays are a winner. And Tuesday hot seat for pub cash.

The room was great. Big enough and comfortable also for my 4 granddaughters and myself. The beds were comfortable and relaxing. I would book again when i travel North.

There is no way I would come back to this place. Scary as all hell. Our neighbours (room next door) were having the biggest domestic around. So much yelling. ||||The room it self was extremely old and run down. Smelly and stained. ||||Only plus was it was right next to the pub!!!

Sorry about last review wasn't meant to be 2 star was ment to be 5. Staff has always been fantastic, drive thru is great. Pokie room is fabulous only wish use did takeaways over the bar but all is awesome cheers guys

So disappointed in the venue and staff incapability. ||The fact that the staff were so disorganised they put me in the wrong room. Then woke me up at 8:50 PM after falling asleep at 6:00PM. She entered my room saying I needed to check out as I hadn’t paid for another night.|| I had no idea what was going on as I had been awake for nearly 24 hours. I thought it was early hours of the morning as I was checking out at 3am on the 19.04.21. I then got dressed went to speak to the ladies in the establishment and they said oh that’s our fault we are sorry. They didn’t offer any sincere apologises or make and effort to make it up to me. I will never be back again. When you travel for work and work shift work you want a bed with NO INTERRUPTIONS. I paid the same amount as others and they weren’t woken up to do staff incapability. Extremely unprofessional and will never be back again.

ROOMS
More like a drive in motel. It suffices as a cheap room for a night. Beds are okay, spring beds with a variety of pillows.
Emenities are well kept.
They were kind enough to upgrade the 2 of us to a larger room, simply cause the tenant of the room we book extended their stay. So that was some nice hospitality.
Because the carpark is located right outside the rooms it was occasionally noisy. You can park your car right in front of the room so I guess that'll muffle a small mount but it doesn't muffle all the chattering groups of people do at their cars after finishing up at the motel's pokies.

Terrible aircon does not cool the room down at all.
Fan does nothing either.
The door has a crease about 1cm or so on both doors for mosquitos and midges to bite you over all got barely any sleep because of this had to put towels near door to prevent bugs coming into room. There was marks on walls and indints/holes.
The hotel does not look like anything in advertised photos it's more run down and terrible if I had of known I would have never of stayed.
105. Plus a 50 refundable deposit to stay there. And now have to wait 3-5 business days for the $50 back this hotel shouldn't charge more then $69 a night honestly worst hotel I've ever been to need redoing the whole thing.
Not enjoyable will not ever be going back.

Please do yourself a favour and don’t stay at this place. Got around 2 hours sleep all night, very dodgy people coming and going from the rooms all night and hours of the morning, not a safe place to stay at all, have to get blankets from the office at check in time as they don’t come with the room. If that doesn’t tell you the kind of people that must stay at this place then I don’t know what will. Please do your self a favour and don’t stay here it’s not safe!

It's quite, good parking, cold beer 🍺 an close to where I have to work. My room was fine, just have to ask for more sugar, milk or tea, overall I'd stay there again. 🍻

It is very old building. The air conditioner is not enough to keep the room cool.. It is very hot inside the room.

It appears to have continued to go downhill steadily since my last visit unfortunately. It's run down, abit eerie, most of the venue is empty and closed off completely due to low patronage. Very hot in the pub and it's deserted most days. Piles of old junk and broken asbestos scattered around the motel's carpark and perimeters. Window screens are replaced with makeshift one's in the form of rusty old refrigerator shelves. Appears as if the owners are struggling with financially. Please support this stuggling business as their staff seem proud to work here and deserve the same chance at running a successful establishment like the others around Mackay are doing.

I liked it here, peaceful while i woz there, it may not look like much but it had all i required and a comfy bed, and hot shower, the staff were nice as well. Id say i would stay here again. 👍

I couldn't sleep a wink ||Nasty stains on the floor, the carpets and the bed! ||Disgusting ||I've stayed in plenty of hotels and motels in this price range before - the management really needs to do something about these rooms!||Spiders and bugs throughout the room forced us to go and bug bug spray and insect repellant just to get through the night ||||

Hotel is very cheap with corresponding services. Old but very large rooms, even older equipment and no wifi connection. Surprisingly, my bed was very comfortable. I still think it's okay accommodation for one night.

Hi there, just wanted to say. We love the Kooyong!
The hot seat is awesome, You just need a beer and your butt in a seat. Every 15 mins someone wins $30 😀
Happy hour is cheap as chips and the beer is always cold and served with a smile and a chat, best staff ever!!
We get the remote to play whatever music we like.
We have only been in town for about one month gone to a couple of pubs around town to get a feel for a new watering hole" WE GOT IT!
KOOYONG HOTEL IS THE BEST PLACE IN MACKAY. We travel from northern beaches each time due to the amazing service they provide.
They don't serve food but they are fine with you bringing your own in.
The pool table is nice and clean and great cues for you to use.
I have lived all up and down the coast and been to heaps of pubs and I have to say the Kooyong is in my top 5 for Australia.
Keep up the great work. We love your faceholes. See you this weekend!!

Great professionalism and customer service, I really enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning in future. Friendly, clean, always smiling and beauitful. Stayed for a bit and loved it. Mackay is a beauitful place.

Great place to do a documentary on meth or buy it worst hotel in Mackay it’s a Bio-Hazard thank goodness it gets knocked down in the new year new beginnings and new staff

Got back in to Mackay after an 84 hour week to find that they have canceled my reservation because I share the same (common) name as some looser who has been black listed by them.
They think that it is acceptable because they made a reservation for me at a dingy place that will cost more due to short notice and school holidays and my money will be refunded in 7-10 working days.
What an absolute stuff around.

Don't judge a book by its cover 🙂. My motel room was spacious and clean. An unexpected bonus was the supply of microwave and toaster!! So close to city centre, and it resolved the chronic street parking issues in the city centre. I will use it as my base again when next in Mackay.

Do not let the pictures fool you the pics provided must be from years and years ago. It's looks like a crack den in person, such a dodgy looking place. Stay away

Decent stop over spot.
Room was extremely hot and fan was loud with only one setting - made it really hard to sleep.
Beds were okay but not massively comfy and shower head was dodgy - pressure wasn’t good and couldn’t adjust the shower head for taller guests. Very appreciative that there was a fridge, microwave and kettle in our room though - and the coffee and tea was a nice touch too.
Staff at the reception desk were friendly and helpful - there was a mix up with our booking but they got it sorted quickly.
