Lake View Hotel Bendigo Reviews
We visited on a busy Friday night and everything went well. The food was great!! Across our group we had the lamb rump, lamb cutlets and pepper steak. All were top notch and up there with the best in Bendigo. Service was prompt and friendly and a constant sweep of tables to clear away glasses and dishes which meant no buildup of clutter. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! We had no idea where to go after our son played soccer out at Epsom. A quick Google search lead us to the Lake View and we were so glad! Great food and venue and the staff were lovely. Highly recommended!

We had dinner in the Indoor Beer Garden. The menu offered many choices, especially for a vegetarian and everyone’s meals were really nice. The staff were friendly and even though they were flat out busy we didn’t wait long for our meals and dessert. We'll definitely be coming back again!😊

We dined at the Lake View Hotel on two occasions on our recent stay in Bendigo.
The hotel was a short walk from our accommodation, so it was an easy choice. Luckily for us, it turned out to be an excellent choice as well!
This bistro is well run and the staff in the kitchen really know what they are doing. Good to see the name of the chef on the menu too!
The service was good and the food even better!
When in Bendigo, don't miss the opportunity to dine at a very good and reliable hotel bistro.

We arrived and ordered before 7 on Sat. We waited our food for 1 hour 10 mins in total after we ordered. Prolonged waiting time in a noisy environment was a bit annoying.
No services at all.
The my scallops and pork belly was a bit cold and too fatty, can’t finished. The porterhouse steak was over done, almost well done and was chewy. Forgot to take pictures but I strongly advised to stay away with any steak, it cost about $45 but badly tasted.
Chips are the best among the dishes, it was fresh and hot

We are new to lake view, but we have dined in twice now and let me tell you we are so darn impressed by both the staff and the quality of food is outstanding! Our new favourite spot. Thanks for making our valentines evening so special guys.

Very yummy dinner. Staff were nice and attentive. Never ate here before and I’m now saying best pub in Bendigo! Five hits at our table. Fish was best I’ve had in years beautiful thin, crispy batter cooked to perfection, the side salads were actually eaten by my kids and husband (!!! Yes, they can even make the sides good). Burger, Parma, lasagna all were an hit too. Classics. They had some good beers/Bertie cider on tap and nice, reasonably priced wine. Definitely will be back.

Took my wife for Mother’s Day the Lakeview didn’t let me down.Food, Service, and atmosphere was great. That was our second visit within a month, outstanding venue, Keep up the standard guys your on a winner.

This pud is superb! Lovely food and the ambiance are dazzling. It's cosy and so spacious inside the pub. Their food are mouth watering!🤤

The menu here has gradually reduced in size with very little alternatives for those with dietary requirements. The meals are also prepared in a way that they can't be altered. If you have dietary requirements I don't recommend eating here. Service the majority times is excellent.

Service was fantastic- I was greeted as soon as I walked in, shown to my table; my drink order taken straight away as was my meal order. As the restaurant got busier I noticed an appropriate number of staff were ready to serve the new arrivals. Food was tasty and delivered in good time. Great venue I would recommend to anyone- but be ready to book in advance.

Quite busy for a Monday lunchtime
But the service was great and no long wait times for the food to arrive.
Great tasting food and a big enough serve.
Even the toilets were immaculate.
Definetly recommend and We will definetly be going back.

Opening hours were very attractive.
Smiling faces to greet us.
Everything was clean and polished.
Vegetarian food was delicious and prompt,

Never again. I have been to the lake view many, many times as a local and haven’t once had an issue. Until tonight. I ordered a scotch fillet, medium rare. After waiting almost an hour, a lovely gentlemen brought out our meals and I was instantly taken aback as it was visibly a badly done, and dry looking porterhouse ‘steak’ at best. I picked it up to confirm that my eyes weren’t tricking me and ripped a bit off and tried it, and confirmed that no, this is not what I ordered and paid $42 for. So I kindly sent it back and said I ordered a scotch fillet, and this isn’t it. Then the I believe manger(?) came out with the plate and receipt and said that I didn’t order eye fillet, I ordered the scotch and this is a scotch? I very politely agreed that no, I didn’t order an eye fillet, I ordered a scotch fillet and that isn’t a scotch fillet? He then proceeded to rudely argue with me about the kitchen being confused about me sending it back and that I haven’t even tried it and that it is a scotch fillet. I am not one to complain when I go out to eat, but as a business, the customer and any issues get resolved in a respectful and timely manner. He came to the table a few times and did apologise and said the kitchen was fixing the mistake (but didn’t tell me what the mistake was they admitted to?) He was extremely condescending and rightly didn’t give a damn, which is pretty sad if that’s how you decide to run a business. He said it’s going to be a little bit of a wait and offered us drinks, which I refused and said thank you, but I’d get them myself. Fast forward 45 minutes after a paying customers complaint and many MANY plates coming out of the kitchen, I kindly explained it had been 2 hours after ordering our food, 45 minutes since I asked for the issue to be resolved, he cut me off and said he wants me to “leave happy” and offered a refund. I did then say that yes, I would like a refund as I am past hungry and it’s been far too long. He was then again, extremely condescending when handing me my cash refund. Has left a very sour taste in my mouth and I will never ever be returning.
- as a side note, I also hope they take into account that my friend’s sweet potato stack was ordered as gluten free (as per the menu), as she is intolerant and she instantly had symptoms that is was clearly not gluten free, and wasn’t safe to consume. Didn’t take long to figure out as she had only had maybe 2-3 bites as it wasn’t cooked like it used to be. Maybe stop trying to cut corners or ask your chef that left to please return. If I could give a 0 rating, I would.

I was recommended this venue from a work colleague and stayed the week. First night brilliant, great food and atmosphere. Atentive staff and good food. Second night food was not very average (pork belly) and I sat there in an empty restaurant whilst the staff wandered around aimlessly. When my plate eventually got collected they were about to walk off until I asked for another drink and the desert menu. 1 hour for a 20-30mjn sitting is unacceptable for an empty restaurant. 3rd night I skipped as I didn’t want to risk the same experience. 4th night I thought I’d give them a go as Monday was good and thought maybe they were having an off night. I stood at the wait to be seated area looking directly at the staff member who was deep in conversation about her Bunion’s or something as equally uninteresting, I looked over at the chef who was making eye contact with who ever was behind the bar and nodding his head in my direction. Still to no avail! I am currently sat in Hungry Jacks, at least they acknowledge their customers.
Rooms are comfy, avoid the restaurant!

It’s been ages since we have been to the Lake View Hotel at 204 McCrae Street. The night we went the place was packed, obviously very popular. The Bistro was full too so we had our meals in what I would call a pretty elaborate sports bar with everything streaming in on the big screens. This however did not detract from the various, and many dining areas though. My 5 stars go to the chef for my delicious Open Lamb Souvlaki with diced tomato, cucumber, olives, lettuce, fetta & Greek yogurt with falling apart lamb, which was sensational. Well done!

If you're a vegetarian and living through the economic crisis, I'd steer clear - at very least don't order the Sweet Potato Stack. $26.50 for half a potato and less than half a mouthful of feta, pesto, pumpkin and pine nuts combined. The flavour and plating were fine, but the portion was pathetic. The service left something to be desired, having other patrons suggest we go straight to the bar rather than continue waiting to be seated. Very disssapointed and very much still hungry.

Finally made our way to this beautiful establishment! Was very busy for a raining Tuesday night but tables were well spaced and service didn't take overly long, Crispy skin pork was mouthwatering and cooked perfectly, prawn were a nice addition to the meal! Desert was rich but well balanced! Fantastic drink selection overall great night

Extremely busy and fully booked but told to come into the bar for a meal, so we ordered our meals four of us, it took about an hour pretty good considering the crowd, beautiful meal, staff were amazing 👏 best service we have seen for a long time, then we walked 🚶♀️ back to our motel hope to visit again.

Excellent evening at The Lake View. The food and the service were excellent. Even with a very full restaurant the wait time wasnt ridiculous and the meals were incredible.

Brilliant gastro pub. Easily rivals Melbourne venues. Its the third time we have stopped here when in Bendigo (or passing through, stopping solely for their food). Even better knowing they have Stone & Wood on tap. Outside area for people with dogs. A stop here wont disappoint.

A very valued pub & Restaurant. Many generations of family and tourists alike have enjoyed this completely revamped and now modernised pub. It is also a fantastic tram connection to riding on the historical talking Trams of the day... Cheers 🥂 🇦🇺 🦘 🪃.

A great meal if a little on the big size and was delicious. my husbands steak was cooked perfectly. Service was good also

A beautiful pub cum restaurant in Bendigo. Easy access, located along Midland highway, easy street side parking, pretty nice and friendly staff, wonderful menu and the pub is impressive. Attended a couple of occasions there from office and family gatherings. Tried most of the dishes from there but my favourite is fish and chips.
