Your management need to evaluate the type of people you hire as “security”. Tried to go in on world pride parade night and was denied for no reason besides being accused for drinking. What do you expect people to do in your venue? Drink water and juice? Was not belligerent nor had any alcohol. Tried to place a complaint on “Jose” and was not followed through. It’s no wonder you have low ratings for your venue. Not LGBTIQ friendly. Avoid this place!

Worse pub ever. Do not recommend to go to . The black security refused us to enter when we had 2 drinks and threaten us they will call the cops. What a joke. This pub deserve to closed down lol.

“Where have you been tonight sir/madam? Gloria jeans? Oh so sorry we can’t let you in. Our three patrons would be disturbed by your presence “ - security guard at Madison hotel.
Ladies and gents, not worth a mention. 24 hour pub means they are open and have staff on 24 hours a day, but you ain’t getting in. Best give it a miss.

We went to have a quiet drink after a concert and were refused entry and interrogated about how many drinks we had had by an extremely unprofessional door person who was on an obvious power trip.We are 3 men in our late 40 and had not been drinking and were treated like we were criminals and asked for ID.What a joke of a place.I would avoid at all costs.The Irish pub up the road was so much more friendly .

Went out with a bunch of friends. The food was well priced and very hot and fresh. Staff were very friendly. Busy place but the service was amazing. We will be back again.

Went here on Wednesday for the $10 lunch deal. The hotel currently cooking food for the Royal Exhibition (literally walking cooked meals across the road covered in foil) They seemed to take priority so we waited an hour for a chicken burger and a steak. I say a chicken burger but as you can see in the photo it was more accurately a lettuce burger with a chicken garnish, the steak was equally disappointing and small.
The staff were friendly and accommodating but I cant recommended coming here at least until they stop cooking for the Exhibition.

Well i was surprised at how nice upstairs is. Great placement, for when your inbetween late and early shift work and home isn't an option. Also better on a Sunday Monday morning into dawn to catch that train home of quick one for the trip before hitting the beach. Could do with some nice tunes maybe encourage a bit of dancing.. and having someone able to make my martini espressos would make it much better too and some seating outside at night

this is a bar for the whites. the older balding bouncer (short guy who’s pretending he’s not rapidly balding) will go out of his way to make you feel unwelcome .
bartenders are quick and friendly!

The security here are on some kind of power trip. It doesn't make sense when the manager is called and struggles to find an issue but the door man says no entry. They are "very strict tonight" and if you have any problems you can "take it up with the police at Surry Hills". It's a complete waste of time and ruined a lovely, sensible farewell party.

The bar staff should learn some manners ,
How to speak with costumers and how to treat customers. Not my first time every time whenever I'm here they looked at me that I'm from the Mars with grumpy face and I've noticed that if I were a white guy they would not treat me like that way,whenever I am here in Madison I feel like that I'm discriminating myself .my God I'm in Australia 🇦🇺 how could they forgot that

Just go up the road to Molly Malone's.

Rang up to see if they were playing the Netherlands vs USA match (11am Thursday) and the person on the phone sounded a bit unsure but said yes. They then rang me back and confirmed they can definitely put it up on the big screen. It’s a big screen above the bar so doesn’t matter who comes in etc you can still see the whole screen. Very happy, thank you so much!! Great to watch #fifa women’s World Cup at the Madison

Old school pub located across from Central. Unfortunately the Light Rail construction makes the whole place look like a war zone. Staff were friendly with ordering, however, for small things like a sofa water, prices were outrageous at $4. Chairs outside look about 60 years old. Evenings are a little shady, and best visit here during day times.

Nice bar, great happy hour, interesting clientele.
Great place to drop in and watch sport. Always someone to have some chat/banter with.
Proper old style pub.

More bouncers than patrons, who are hostile and arrogant. I’ve worked nearby for over ten years and this is by far the worst reception I’ve ever had, simply to sit and have a beer, and I was here 3 weeks ago with no issues. Avoid this place as long as the ‘security’ are here. Get better employees.

Lunch and dinner meals for $10. Tried the 200g Angus Rump Steak and it was delicious. Great value for money!

I was looking for a place close to central station to meet with a mate I hadn't seen in a few years on his travels through Sydney, we chose the Maddison originally. Upon getting there there was a large group of tradies that had occupied the outdoor seating area and decided to be as loud and rowdy (swearing and carrying on and having little wrestling matches on the sidewalk) as humanly possible, needless to say I went to the pub next door (to avoid a rowdy crowd) which was much quieter until the Madison cut off some of the tradies and they decided to move next door to the quiet pub with less than 10 non pokie patrons at the time including my wife, our friend and myself.
Not saying that the actions of the tradies are the responsibility of the bar staff but their intoxication levels definitely were and the intoxication levels of people already at the venue was more than enough to make me change meeting point last second, then again made us move to a completely different street after only 30 minutes of trying to find a peaceful place to sit where we could drink and smoke away from gambling and still be able to talk at normal volumes without people rowdily screaming next to us and trying to put macho one another.
Looks like a great pub for a lunch feed or after work gatherings. But if you're looking for somewhere quiet to enjoy a few beers with a mate on a Friday afternoon responsibly, you have to move a bit further away from central towards strawberry hills or even Redfern.
I have only based my review on external atmosphere alone, as the atmosphere was enough to keep me from wanting to enter the venue so I can't exactly review prices service or anything else beyond the fact that they don't mind people being rowdy on their sidewalk designated smoking and seating area.

Food is very average, burger bun was a tad burnt and chicken was dry. Beers were nice and refreshing but I dont think you can go wrong there.

Bar staff are friendly and helpful.
They also serve free nibbles for patrons who are gambling.
There's a smoking room.
The venue is open 24 hours (except between 5am n 730am the bar is closed for cleaning)
There's even a pool table.
There is adequate outdoor dining too.
The food is well priced and they serve decent sized portions.

As a frequent regular customer to this venue I personally am well know at the Madison Hotel staff, on any night you can go to the Madison till at least 6.30, 700am.
As a regular to the Madison, as a shift worker, as hospitality staff and charity worker I did not expect the whatever disrespectful person who was the door to tell me they were shut when people were in the street bar.
The Madison is open 24hrs with stop break for an on pokies, I personally have been all the Madison in a Sunday night at 3.30, 3.45 like tonight and before I even got in line with the door the new young secretary with his lil mate just refused entry, didn't ask me who I was, didn't ask me where is been.
So so disrespectful such a disappointment to a venue I frequent any time day or night.
Myself nor anyone I know will attend this venue again while this immature disrespectful behaviour goes on.
For multiple years under any other security guard at the I have never had a problem. .

Allowed us to purchase drinks for a group of 5, took our money and then asked for ID, this was at 4pm on a Sunday, we were at the pools and did not have our wallets with us, they told us we cannot stay and as we had already consumed a portion of our drinks did not give a full refund.
So they will take money off people who they do not know is of legal age and kick them out after already serving alcohol, makes sense to me.
Terribly rude staff.
