You enter there and a young lady scans your ID, you get your ID and say thank you but you hear nothing ! (why), ok you enter and you want sit somewhere but there is nowhere to sit and all the chairs are occupied!(why), then you decide to get a drink, I ordeted whisky , I want to drink it but the glass stinks a lot,(the smell of sulfur), I give it back and ask to change the glass but they say it doesnt smell (why they cant smell) !, then I want to order some chips, just chips, I wait in the queue, after half an hour I am still in the queue and it seems I should wait 30 mins more, I change my mind, I decide to relax by drinking that stinky whisky but every 2 mins some teenagers get excited by watching tv and shout, very very loudly, they are very drunk and loudly shout !!!, I go out and never go such an unorganised, rude, wild, ...place any more

While it's not the biggest club the food is good and the staff are friendly. Even gave out free pies at halftime in origin.

When I ordered the chicken burger I wasn’t expecting it to be the size of a kids happy meal. Smallest burger I think I’ve ever had and no more than 10 chips to go with it. Thought I may of ordered a kids meal by mistake but a friend got a similar meal that was just as big. Wish I had a photo as reference but I definitely did leave unsatisfied.
Besides this I do love the place and the new garden area is great. But in the future will be eating meals before I arrive to the club.

What a great little club this place is!
I must have been driving past it for about 40 years and it took me until NY Day to drop in.
The club looks like it has been rebuilt or renovated in the last few years as everything is spick and span. None of the tell-tale stains of spilt beer on the furniture or anywhere else. The rest rooms were spotless as well.
The food options include a café for cakes and coffee, a carvery with roasts etc. and a Chinese food outlet; The Lucky Magpie.
There were three of us and we chose the Chinese. What we were unprepared for was the generosity of the servings. They are obviously aware of this because we were not the only ones to request a doggy bag.
Apart from being plentiful the food was delicious.
All in all the staff were friendly and helpful, the service was good, the food delicious and the drinks were cold.
Just the place to escape from the heat for a few hours.
We will return soon!

Was ok. I got a scotch fillet steak on the daily special today asking for medium rare. The steak was nice enough, but overcooked. It wast was cut so thin you could never have cooked it medium rare if you wanted to.

The worst bistro food north of Goulburn…. Raw prawns on schnitzels, warmed up McCain pizzas with a sprinkling of added cheese… I mean, I’ve had some awful pizzas in my time, maybe worse, but this has to be bottom 5…. Nice cold tooheys on tap though, that’s the 2 stars,

There's nothing sadder than being tired in the afternoon because you were busy with emergency bookings all lunch hours and now you desperately need a coffee and feed but all the local coffee shops and lunch hours are over... Don't despair, don't resort to petrol station food eaten in the car! Instead go to Magpies Waitara enjoy Delicious traditional Aussie cafe food and coffee, served by helpful and friendly staff in comfy seats in a pleasant environment. Feel civilised and get back to work revived.

The new garden has very good vibes. The live music on a Friday and Saturday is awesome. The bar staff are great and it’s busy which makes the atmosphere.

Sweet and sour pork had more onion than pork. Used to be good. Now it's gotten stingy. I went back last Saturday to see if they had had improved, I waited an 1 and a 1/4 hours for my food. Then got food poisoning from them reheating my food 3 times.

Small club with okay facilities, but the meals were a let down and the Asian cuisine, don't go there. Guiness on tap deserves another 0.5 star as that brightened the experience a little.

Really appreciated the way they treated me as a cancer patient (I need my hat on me when I am out as I lost most of my hair because of my chemotherapy every 3 weeks) 🙏.

Our cousin's band was playing live that night so we decided to make whole night of it. We had dinner at the bistro (Chinese meals) which was great taste and value, after which we retired to the auditorium for live music and dancing. Magpies have a great venue, facilities and food/drink offerings.

Love the atmosphere, we usually come here for food. As a member you get savings on the food. Each night they have different theme. Steak night, Burger night, Pizza, etc. Nice for a quick bite and a beer. Recommended.

It's a nice environment, the people at the reception are friendly and welcoming to non-members.
The food is disappointing. It's not bad, but for the price tag it is definitely not worth it.
Few vegetarian options and small portions. The steamed dumplings were overcooked.

I go here on Monday evenings for Rock'n'Soul choir practice. The venue is a welcoming place except for the silly pokies. Thanks Magpies for hosting us. Good food and drinks too.

Honestly the worst pub experience I have ever experienced. And writing a review for a pub/rsl is saying something about how bad this place is.
Prepare yourself when you come here for …horrible customer service, long waits for food and rude bar staff.

Great venue for a team dinner!
Our Hornby Spiders basketball team decided to host a post-game dinner for players and parents at Magpies tonight and it was terrific.
I hadn’t been there before but I will definitely be visiting again! Things that we really enjoyed as a group:
* the ability to order both classic pub style food as well as Asian options,
* being able to order on our phones but also group the delivery so we ate at the same time,
* despite being almost 40 degrees outside when we arrived it was lovely and cool in the air conditioned area we were in,
* the playground area to keep the little siblings happy,
* our manager was able to book large tables for our group so all the players were able to sit together at one table and all the parents at another,
* donut fries.. enough said!
Thanks Magpies for giving us a great place to enjoy time together away from the court.

Great club, staff always friendly. Huge range of food options (menu is almost too big...! Can choose between Western and Asian kitchens), and really reasonable prices for drinks. A great place to meet up with friends for a casual get-together.

Brought in as a guest by a friend. Nice and cosy “RSL like” club with food, gaming and live TV. Food and drink prices reasonable and members get discount. Daily roast meals on rotation. Friendly service.

Awesome venue for parties up to 80 people
The event coordinator is excellent and super flexible. Also great prices Food was really nice. Many options as well. Super friendly staff.

At Peggy's Cafe, have ordered a very simple toast with jam and coffee, husband has ordered cake with milkshake, it has taken nearly 40 minutes so far, am still waiting, last time we were here the tuna melt was awful, it was cold and cheese congealed, so this time I thought I would try toast, can't go wrong with that, I hope. Husband just went up to check as people after us are getting there's she said sorry,and she is not even busy, there's hardly anyone here, we just asked our money back.
Will go somewhere else to eat.

Any dish you order you need to wait more than 30 minutes or longer. Everything is overcooked and dry. Any food court shop can do a better job.

A budget asian food restaurant in the middle of the Leagues club, Magpie's Waitara has an excellent selection on the menu and the food is very tasty and quite different - they offer a few less common dishes as well as traditional ones.
The staff were very friendly, polite and courteous.
This is a bistro service restaurant so table service isn't an issue. Nevertheless, the staff were quick to clear away any empty plates but we never felt pressured to leave.
The restaurant was clean and the prices were appropriate for the type of restaurant. It's inside the club so there are toilets close by as well as the bar and it's facilities. There's ample parking and good disabled access.
