Laid-back all-suite hotel featuring a restaurant/bar, an outdoor pool & a garden, plus free Wi-Fi. Overlooking a marina on the Coral Sea, this understated all-suite hotel is a 12-minute walk from Harbour Beach and 8 km from Queens Park. Featuring carpeted floors, the unassuming suites offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and kitchenettes, as well as sitting areas, balconies, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Some have whirlpool baths. Room service is available. Parking is complimentary. Other amenities include a restaurant/bar, guest laundry facilities and a garden, plus an outdoor pool, an exercise room, and meeting and event space. Breakfast is available.

Whilst my initial experience was not ideal staff quickly addressed my concerns and did everything possible to make my stay amazing. I can very confidently say management are doing everything in their power to address negative feedback that you may have read in other reviews.
If you’re looking for somewhere really nice to stay that lets you unwind in a quite little pocket of paradise then Mackay Mantra is a great choice!

We have stayed at the Mantra many, many times over the years we have been going to Mackay. The location on the harbour provides for excellent views and easy walks. You are spoilt for meals options with the Mantra's in house restaurant offering good quality meals or a short walk along the pathway provides a steak specialist restaurant, a more casual bar/dining restaurant and a good casual seafood dine in or takeaway option. This restaurant also offers pizzas as well but I have not tried these.

Very nice hotel situated in the middle of the marina area. Rooms are large and bed was very comfortable. Views of the harbour are relaxing with balconies available. Quiet and private location and is my preferred location when visiting Mackay although you need to drive to get to the CBD and commercial areas. A Pub, steak restaurant and fish and chip shop are a easy walk from the Mantra. Other takeway shops are a short drive away. Haven't used the restaurant downstairs so unable to comment on the quality or type of food offered. Plenty of outsdie eating areas if required. Recommend for both business and short term visitors.

This place is best for couples or corporate groups. Not ideal for families as there isn't anything to keep children busy. Also wasn't happy listening to a screaming toddler at night when trying to sleep. Better of not putting families next to room with couples in it. Would have liked a toaster in the room.

This Mantra Mackay us situated at the marina and is a great location. The hotel is dated and the bathrooms are in need of a good clean and refurbishment. The reception staff are lovey and very happy to help. Housekeeping is were the problems are. Kettle was faulty, only 3 tea bags for 4 day stay, no milk, room not serviced every day, had to ask for more towels and put dirty ones in laundry room, asked for more tea and got one more tea bag, only one water glass for 2 people , silly little cups for tea and coffee. And unfortunately the bed was uncomfortable, it rolled to the middle and we woke sore during the night every night we stayed.a bit more attention to detail would help alot.

This Mantra is in a great location for a view of the Marina. Rooms are adequate - but a little tired looking. Daily service seems not to include clean towels - need to ask for that. Some musty smelling areas of the hotel. Parking although free is not plentiful or really undercover. Breakfast is great, fresh and hot each morning. Compliments to Julie in the restaurant for her friendly and efficient manner.

The reception staff where friendly and knew everything about us on arrival and had to do very little to check in.
Our spa / harbor view room was chilled, clean, crisp and amazing.
The view was great. Could not fault the room in any way.
Comfortable bed and slept well.
We had breakfast at the hotel and it too was fantastic.
Our kid free night away was much needed and the mantra made our stay incredible, we will be back.

The hotel is right on the waterfront. The hotel looked good. The room was great however it smelled very musty and unpleasant. There were no cooking utilities however, pots and pans were available for cooking in our room

Stayed 2 nights. Great room and view was spectacular. All the amenities of a hotel room with the benefit of a small kitchenette. Great pub with 3 restaurant choices within a 5 minute walk and a beautiful beach 5 minutes in the other direction. It's a 15 drive to the main street of Mackay

Room had a very dank, musty smell that lasted the whole stay. Other parts of the hotel smelt the same. Very off putting. TV was not capable of displaying closed captions, essential for hearing impaired guests. Restaurant closed Sunday and Monday nights, the 2 nights we stayed and breakfast was not as advertised on their website. Housekeeping consisted of emptying the waste bin; no fresh towels etc. Receptionist very off handed when we returned key at checkout.|The view of the harbour was great. Compared to other hotels, the rates were too high.

Nice location. Little bit of a drive to get to city but nice views over marina. Great breakfast in the restaurant and good service even on a public holiday. Rooms were clean and in good condition and well serviced with spectacular views. Will stay again.

Mantra Mackay is definitely our go to "home away from home" when we travel to mackay for business or pleasure.
The service levels are outstanding, the rooms are very comfortable and the location is simply the best. The marina views are first class and the ability to take a walk on the breakwater or the beach makes every trip a pleasure.
I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Loved our stay at Mantra Mackay, we were upgraded into the Premier’s Apartment which was fabulous. The walk out onto the Marina wall is fabulous perfect for capturing sunset photos. The restaurant food was excellent, couldn’t fault it for either dinner or breakfast, staff very helpful.|Will return next week !

Location was beautiful, the staff amazing. The restaurant had a lovely breakfast. My only complaint would be that the rooms are quite outdated. Our bathroom had mould on the roof and all in the silicone in the shower floor. I would just think for the price point we paid the upkeep would be a little better.

Just the small things I had ask if the chef could make an omelet and they did which was very simple and very nice. This place is very lovely to stay at and nothing is never a problem It's my recommended place to stay whenever in Mackay.

I accidentally booked the wrong date for my stay and only realised when I turned up to check in, I asked if I could swap the dates only a week apart and she flat out refused and made me pay for another room and no refund on the room for the following week. Piss poor customer service in my opinion! I’d say “ill never stay here again” but I have to use the booking that I’ve already paid for I guess :(

Had a flight cancelled and stayed at the Mantra. The concierge was extremely helpful and allowed my collogue and I to work from the kitchen (which was closed) while we awaited our next flight. Also gave us a barista coffee on the house while we waited. So thanks for that.

Great location, clean well appointed rooms, professional and friendly staff throughout. Great value for money. Recommend this hotel for your next stay in Mackay.

Great hotel near the beach in Mackay. Comfortable stay with a great breakfast, a little far from Mackay city if you don't have your own transport, but the views are beautiful.

Great, friendly staff. The Queen room was pretty good. Just had a cracked tile, bathroom could do with an update.

Fantastic hotel, very comfortable beds , spotlessly clean a credit to the cleaners.|Nice quiet location couldn’t hear any outside noise.|Close to other restaurants and bar |Highly recommend this place to everyone. |Great views of the marina and short walk to the beach

Clean and comfortable room and well appointed. Unfortunately, a few things to note: room has a strong, unpleasant musty odour, even after aircon on for ages, opened and empty dish washibg liquid under sink so we couldn’t wash up. Dirty linen piled up outside carpark entrance to building was a bit unsightly, exposed to elements. Bedside lamp not working. A generally dated building with a lot of wear and tear. Not what I’d come to expect from Mantra brand. Breakfast was nice, great service. Pool and grounds looked lovely and well maintained. Location was pleasant next to water but not much around in terms of shops or food variety. A few unsavoury characters around, yelling and screaming at security in nearby hotel. Unlikely to stay here again with view to pay less and stay somewhere just as comfortable. Not worth the extra money we paid to stay here.

Cannot thank the Mantra enough for hosting all our guests at the wedding of our daughter. We were all made to feel so welcome! The rooms and meals were amazing and the service of food and drink at the reception was second to none! Thank you for making this event so memorable!

Booked an executive room accidentally, not worth the extra dollars. Have stayed in standard room before, much cheaper, but it was a much better room. Dont waste money on booking the "so called" executive room because personally, it was not good. Hardly any furniture, very dated. Needs a make over big time.

Best location in Mackay. Staff friendly and helpful. Starting to become a little tired but just needs some refurbishment. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend

Beautiful room gorgeous views of the harbour! Lovely food, not overly expensive, staff were wonderful and helpful. Manta Mackay is definitely our go to locally, the ocean views are like no other, restaurant food and beverages are always delicious and of high quality, catering to all. The rooms are always spotless, even the ocean facing windows (which is near impossible to up keep). |All in all will be locking this in regularly.

A pleasant location on the harbour and only a few minutes drive into the town centre of Mackay, there is enough to keep you entertained here for a few nights and enjoy the uniqueness of the Mackay harbourside.
The hotel is old and in need of a an update across the board. Our room, although a premier room, was looking very tired. The view and room size was a nice distraction from the ageing room and furnishings but the design was poor. Some better ideas on furniture layout, kitchen design and dining space is needed to make the most of the harbour view rooms. New lounges would be a good start.
A better design and improved furnishings could demand a higher and higher nightly rate but this should probably be done regardless.
Staff were amazingly friendly, helpful and understanding of our requirements and expectations.
The hotel is a short walk to several pubs, restaurants and clubs with a bar and restaurant on site too.
Would definitely consider the Mantra on our return, especially if renovations have been undertaken.
