Went for a friend’s birthday the cheeseburger was not very nice and drowned in sauce . Chicken schnitzel was very dry with no flavour at all. Garlic bread was probably the best part of our meals.
Definitely needs an upgrade the restaurant but also the food.
The play area looks like a good size and the service was good.

We dined here last night as a large group of family members. Unfortunately after we ate our dinner (which was served quickly, great size servings and well priced), one of our family members had an unexpected medical emergency requiring an ambulance to be called. I wanted to say a bit thank you to Ben (Duty Manager) and the team for helping us and making sure we had the defibrillator and other items we needed, as well as caring for the remaining family members who were upset about what had happened. We very much appreciate your professionalism and calm support during what was a stressful situation for all. Hope to be back again soon with the family to enjoy some time together when everyone is well.

We came to the Matthew Flinders Hotel to watch a Muay Thai Australia kickboxing competition.
It was an awesome experience, I would definitely recommend.
The venue seemed to have lots to offer with a family friendly environment.

We came here when we were scouting for places that can host kids birthday parties. The place is an actual hotel with a dining/pub area that also has an indoor playground and arcade. We ordered a few dishes to test it out and although it's not mind-blowingly good it is still pretty decent compared to other similar establishments. Portion is generous even for kids pasta and it comes with actual mince meat in the sauce. The place is spacious so kids can run around and they can entertain themselves in the indoor playground or the arcade that has mini bowlings.

We attended this venue for lunch last week and l have never felt so under valued as a customer. To start with we waited for a good 3 minutes to be seated and the staff were not engaged with other customers. In particular,there were 3 staff members chatting at reception. There was 1 person behind the bar who kept disappearing, and he was not serving.
I went to buy tokens for some children and after another lengthy wait a young male came to assist however he didn't have the required key. Then finally the older female staff member from reception huffed over to assist. No communication just handed us the card which did not work. I awas very disappointed when l went to tell her this and her comment was' well l did swipe it and it has got the money on it'. I was made to feel stupid and the cardwas replaced and that worked.
As far as our meals were concerned they arrived in a timely manner and were good, but noone cleared our table for the duration of our visit.
To be honest we felt like we were an interruption rather than valued customers. Short staffed or not, do your job and be engaged in customer service.

Was served by Beth last saturday 15/06 very friendly. Helped out serving the kids. Her patience was amazing. New menu is great. We will be back.

Very disappointed that after spending over 250$ in a very average food and almost 60$ in the gaming cards, the manager and a very rude male waiter can’t even give me a proper answer about their faulty machines. Half of them do not work, and the ones that do, are obviously not the “problem”. I won A Thousand tickets and when I asked the waiter to check he told me : the card didn’t have any points and took the card away from me……. I said that it was impossible and his answer was super rude and walked away from me. What a poor service. Never coming back for sure 👍🏻

This is a great place that will surprise anyone who is entering for the first time. Nice ambience and spacious with a wide variety of food, including vegetarian and vegan options. They have a nice tab with options of drinks.

Service is quite poor the couple of times we have been. All the staff were nice enough when we eventually get service but it seems they are just under-staffed and running around disorderly. Lunch & dinner have been the same experience and although lunch was busy, it was probably 70% capacity. Took 10mins waiting at the front to be shown to the table. Staff saw us and others waiting but just seemed too busy to assist. Kids meal took an hour and came out only after asking at 45min mark. Menu items from dinner weren't seen at lunch session. Food is hit & miss but the cheesy garlic bread & arcade games have us returning!

Pub was clean and service was good. The play area is fantastic, quite a few options for kids. It's also a large area, so didn't feel crowded at all. I loved the concept of what they did. The food is OK... A bit pricy really for what it is, serves were on the smaller side.
On the whole, good experience and entertainment for the kids, however you'll need to bring some cash!

Paul was great! He always has a smile on his face and makes the Matthew Flinders a great place to visit. Love coming in regularly and feeling welcome. Hats off to him and the rest of the staff!

Paul is an absolute gentleman. Greets you when your first walking in with a smile and keeps the atmosphere alive and positive. Awesome pub!

Nice room! Really nice touch to have some drinks, lollies and water available makes a huge difference! The tea and coffee supply’s great! Only two things I would suggest there is no tissues in room and I had to ask at bistro for milk, heard a little bit of noise during night but not too bad

My darling Porscha!! We cannot thank you and the wonderful staff for hosting and organising our boys 6th birthday party! It was such an amazing party in the arcade with arcade cards for every child, bowling and more! We are in awe and are so overwhelmed by the hospitality...you absolutely spoilt them!! We loved Fab Fiona the magician and the wonderful face painter Kerry! Everyone was so impressed with the food and service, the adult platters and kids meals were beyond expectation! The children loved the party bags and gifts it was like Christmas. Can highly recommend having a party or function at the Matthew Flinders. Thank you for making it so memorable 😘 xx

Kids entertainment review.
Age range: 3- 14
Price: $15+
This is a basic place to take kids if you want them entertained on the cheap. Essentially they have bowling, basketball arcade, general arcades/ video games, ticket games and a half decent play room.
For around $15 they can get a game of bowling, get in around 7-10 arcade games and also win a prize (if they do any ticket items).
The only down side is that bowling was faulty in one lane and a couple of the games were out of order.
Overall though for kids under 10 this will keep them entertained for a while. We were there for around 2hrs and spent about $15. quite happy with the experience and they got a nice little toy to take home.

I held my wedding reception at the board room. We had three-course meals and the food looks amazing and tastes delicious. Porscha, the function manager, helped a lot in planning and organsing everything. My husband and I had a really great experience and will definitely recommend Matthew Flinders Hotel and Porscha to our friends.

I have been coming here for over 40 years and it’s always been good and now even better.
A new food menu and it’s top quality and loads of choices for all
Great pokies area and friendly staff. And very safe and secure as great security
Brilliant services from all resources.
Look for Pathum for great one on one service with a smile and friendly chat in games area
Motel area is brilliant
And kids area will keep them occupied for hours
And the live entertainment is tops
All in all a great place
Lovely people as cooks and waiters and reception and services
And very good prices
I will keep coming back until day end

I came here on a Thursday at lunchtime with the kids for a quick lunch while in the area. I love a pub/hotel meal (nothing fancy just simple) and having driven past a few times I figured today’s the day to give it a go.
The establishment is very clean and actually has a great vibe. The staff are very friendly and welcoming which is always a plus.
There’s lots of room for functions as well as booths for something more private.
There’s a decent bar selection of wines and spirits (although I’m not a drinker) there’s also a coffee machine with some lovely cakes (a must for us mums)
The kitchen area is open, and looks very clean. The food came out fast and the portions are just enough to fill a hungry tummy). Sometimes pubs give such a huge serve that it ends up being a waste. There’s a great selection for the seniors too which are very affordable.
Kids meals are decent with the standard options that one would expect (fish n chips, nuggets n chips, salads, pasta) for $12.
I ordered a chicken Caesar salad it came out fresh and well prepared.
There’s a bowling area, kids indoor playground, as well as an arcade all well kept, clean and great to vent some energy before or after a meal.
To the back is also a sports bar and gaming lounge (can’t comment on the state of either as under 18 is not permitted and I have 2 littles with me)
At the front there is a seperate entrance in the foyer to a “club” with a small stage, dance floor, bar and booths.

Had an amazing time at The Mathew Flinders Hotel!
The food was delicious, especially the Lamb Shank, which was cooked to perfection.
The atmosphere was fantastic, cozy and inviting with a great vibe. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed.
I highly recommend The Matthew Flinders Hotel for anyone looking for a great night out. We will definitely be back!

Great place to come if you have children. It has a huge arcade games room and a great sized playground! The playroom itself when we visited at lunchtime was pretty dirty. Lolly wrappers left all over the machines from kids and even just all the dust build up was a bit gross… I know kids don’t take any notice but a good scrub is definitely well over due.
The staff were friendly and delivered good service.
Food… it’s nothing to rave about. Very basic pub food, it was nice but for the price…. I’d expect a bit more bang for your buck. I got a Parma and chips the size was definitely on the smaller side.. for like $28 or whatever it was I was still hungry…. So that was a bit disappointing. But it’s not bad overall.

Food took 30-45 minutes to come out, when asked staff members they said “it will be 10 minutes” when it actually took another 20 minutes! Salad was soaked with vinegar, tasted disgusting!
Except for EMMA well done, thanks for your service and making up for the wait :) give her a raise.

Child friendly hotel with play space for children. Food was fresh and tasty. Seating area is well spaced out. Order and the bar. Good place for group bookings.

Catch up with friends before attending an event. Friendly staff and tasty food. Pleasant atmosphere but kitchen needs couple of extra hands to catch up with big crowds. But as I said food was rewarding. Bar was fast and not overpriced

As if the world wide price gouging isn’t enough, their Seniors meal is now less than “entree” quantity which doesn’t make sense when months ago it was almost twice the volume, or 3/4 volume of full price meals.
Quality of food is Public Bar std: nothing to crow about.
Diners only filled 25% of tables until this current unwelcoming situation.
They’ll now be even less and this means even less alcohol sales.
That reminds me !
How can they justify $7.20 for a pint of lemonade v. $7.50 for a pint of Beer ???
Home cooking full time is looking better.
I cannot recommend any dishes.

A fantastic spot for celebrating birthdays or simply enjoying regular days, boasting delicious food and a delightful atmosphere. Additionally, it features an arcade suitable for both children and adults, and ample parking space, making it highly recommended. 💖😍😍

Absolutely terrible service. They bought over part of our food 1 hr late, and served it cold to a pregnant guest. We complained and advised our guest was pregnant, 5 min later same food bought back cold in part and reheated. Are you people serious she is PREGNANT and it was chicken. Waited for another 45 min for the rest to come out only to have one order missing. The manager there should find another job as he clearly cannot run a restaurant.
