With St Patrick's Day just around the corner I dropped in after work for a quiet Guinness. I think I might make it a regular thing.

The Guinness is the best you will find out of Ireland. The Sunday traditional session is so good you would think you were in a very good bar anywhere in Ireland. They sell Tayto’s!

The best Irish bar in cairns. They make you feel like family. Beer is cold the staff are amazing and the jokes keep coming. Great music and amazing atmosphere. Love this place..... It's your home away from home.

Staff are super friendly and awesome. The pub supports a following of some great locals it seems and the atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy. Next time I'll be back for an Irish coffee as last time there machine was unfortunately broken so settled for a Guinnes instead.

Sought McGinty's out as refuge while being chased by a maniac along Cairns, was like coming home (my Irish friend concurs). Best guinness pint I've had in Australia and the atmosphere was exceptional.

Owners are lovely.

Cons
Unbecoming for an Irish pub, they will cut you off if you look as though you're having too much fun
Quite small for groups of more than 4.
Locals and regulars will be served first.
Not cheap.

Probably my favourite Irish pub in Australia - and I have tried many of them.
You get the feel that you are a local, even if it is your first visit there.
Paddy and Helen are excellent hosts and all of the bar staff are both friendly and professional.
Their turnover is such that the Guinness is always fresh and cold.
The locals are a friendly bunch and host their own small but welcoming and challenging trivia quiz on Saturday afternoon. Bragging rights (I haven’t yet to earn them yet) are more valuable than the possible free drink.
From 4pm each Sunday you will get to enjoy some traditional music and the occasional song.
Food is limited to that purchased in a packet. The bar has got a surprisingly good collection of drinks, with a pleasing collection of Irish Wiskeys.
Never empty nor overly crowded - it feels like home home tome.

Not tried the food ,the bar is traditional with its locals and Peking order in place.
Great bar to drink at and a good sense of humour to be had .

Nice and cosy Irish pub! The girl behind the bar was lovely! Me and my friend had a great time drinking Guinness from the tap!

Lovely little Irish pub atmosphere with great staff and service. Good range of drinks, and lovely Guinness. Can order a good meal for delivery from across the road 🙂 Live music on Sunday afternoons!

I really like this pub. Here's why. The staff are friendly. They know how to pull a good pint. The have well-kept Kilkenny and Guinness, probably the best I've tasted in Cairns. They have a variety of music most of which is pretty good. It somehow maintains a great atmosphere whether it's lunchtime on a weekday or a Friday night.

Great take on an Irish pub. Best Guinness in Cairns hands down. Staff are lovely and warm. Relaxed atmosphere, great knick-knacks and a wide variety of drinks. One of the most casual and fun bars around. Definitely worth a visit for a beer or coffee at decent prices. Close to town and other bars and restaurants

Great atmosphere in this Irish bar. Of course if you've ever been to Ireland you'd know that this doesn't quite come close to the real thing, but the owners have done a good job of creating a cozy place where everyone will feel instantly welcome. Great friendly staff, good beer and whisky selection (several Irish beers and ales on tap) and nice seating areas.

Great Atmosphere! Fantastic service, best Guinness in town. If you fancy a pint in a relaxed friendly authentic atmosphere, McGinty’s is for you. The Sunday sesh is the craíc, with live music and a cheery crowd.

Awesome staff ... If you're traveling and want a friendly pub to enjoy a cold one, come to McGinty's. On Sunday nites some of the locals pick up their Irish musical instruments for a jam session.... With a mix of bagpipes, fiddles, spoons, and flues, it's a fun time. Regardless of which night (or day), you can relax and enjoy great mixed drinks or fresh pints.
