What not happy with Mentone RSL was over Crowded
Couldn't get in and out From your seat i Was all squash up in my seat it toke ages for someone to take your food order then toke ages to get your food Won't be back there in a hurry band was good Kingsley George Band

Very quiet for Thursday lunch service, very quiet overall.

The butter chicken was sensational. Generous serving at a great price. Plenty of good options on the menu for the family too

The building is a nice 1920 style house with a nice foyer to match, unfortunately that is where it stops as the food wasn't the best. Asked for a rare steak & got medium, my partner order the chicken Parma only to receive it not cooked all the way through then once told to receive the next one burnt. It needs wheelchair access via the front instead you have to go all the way around the back. The tables aren't big enough for 4 adults. All the staff weren't wearing a uniform and they were just standing around talking to each other. Also they lacked in drinks.

No food available ..Bistro closed on a Sunday? 6pm and only 7 people in the place including the 2 of us. Bit sad because the place is clearly off the pace...not even an ode.

New chef and new menu recently. Both excellent, and at pub prices. They have musical acts at various times also.
You can ring ahead to reserve a table.

My first visit here for dinner (on a Wednesday night) was underwhelming.
I've been to multiple RSL's with much better setups. This reminded me of trivia night at a sports club. The space was huge, but our group of 10 had to generate our own atmosphere - no other punters in attendance. There was a stage and a dance floor. Perhaps musical entertainment nights are more appealing.
Food was inexpensive - it was Parma night - though was nothing special (with the exception of Mexican Parma)
Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.
All in all, not quite the RSL experience I'm used to.

Lucky to give one star! Went to the local RSL last night and I had the worst meal ever. I ordered a seniors roast of the day ( pork) and I had to send it back! Meat was as tough as leather … at first l thought it was the knife but
no it was the dry overcooked meat. The veggies were dried up and the roast potatoes cold. I cld choose to have another plate of roast or a replacement meal … l decided on fried fish and chips. Well that meal was average too! The house wine was warm and awful. The other wine I bought was better. It is such a pity that this lovely old heritage building has not been looked after. We sat in the dining room … we were the only ones other than an elderly gentleman. The bench seats are tattered and need reupholstering . The walls need painting and the windows cleaned. There is no atmosphere at all. Management has really let down the community on this dingy dive of a place. I won’t be coming back!

Lovely vibe from the Kingsley George Band and the food was delicious. Fantastic night for sure.

Just a great venue food is absolutely top rate, a very friendly atmosphere highly recommended this club

I was sick from food poisoning about two years ago when I last had dinner there. And never got refunded or anything!! Won’t be returning there any time soon.

It was such a pleasure to meet this absolutely kindhearted staff. Nikki and sharon are truely beautiful. Fred is also a lovely bubble that i hope to see nexttime more as well. Besides that the building is a stunning heritage building that has been kept beautifully. People make places, and these people definitely make this place so much worth visiting for!

Interesting old building and wasn't crowded. In fact it was pretty much cleared out by 7.30pm on a Saturday.
Food when it finally came was tasty and all plates emptied partially also to smallish sizes. Chips were very average with not much potato left inside but other dishes were enjoyable.
Main negative is the time it took to serve the food. An hour from ordering to serving is too long in my book, especially when it wasn't that busy.

I go there to Paul and Anna's Latin dance lessons. Meals look great. Drink prices cheaper than most venues. Strongbow Cider stubble $6.
Very reasonable. Meals look hearty and filling.

Food was pub fare, Parma, roast of the day etc some Indian items were in the list also. Atmosphere in the bistro is relaxed be prepared for some oldys line dancing, doing some turns etc if there is music on in the evening. Good for some entertainment.

Food and booze good. Alex Matthews very good tonight. Great fun Rock n Roll dancing to the music. Keep it going!!! Don't stop the music.

Comfortable light filled dining room compliment the food and friendly service here.
Menu selection is classic pub food done really well and served by friendly staff in the dining room. The service at the bar is friendly and made to feel very welcoming.
Classic pub raffle is on Friday evenings which is a lot of fun. Live bands are also a feature on Friday (check which days they are on before you go).
Child friendly place too!

A great few beers and laughs enjoyed following 40 year reunion of a champion group of 1983 St Bede's students.Great way to celebrate.
