Young bloke at the bar needs an Attitude adjustment..Lucky I didn't give him one!!!!
Food is ok..Atmosphere is pretty non existing as it's just gotten too far out of people's reach..
The price of beer, food, and deserts, are like the whole of Australia a Rip off..

Wow! they have really reinvented this place and the staff couldn't do enough. Didn't have seafood pasta on the menu, but when we asked, the waiter who in turn asked the chef if he could make it. The answer was absolutely!
Better yet... it was delicious!
Highly recommended Merrimac tavern! .

We went to Merrimac tavern for lunch and from where we were seated we were able to see the waiter taking food for himself
to eat from the plates he was about to serve. I was shocked to see the waiter picking food from the dish he was about to serve us... Amazingly discusting!!!

We popped in for late night drinks after the footy last night. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. We were made to feel like locals. Great experience

We came across this place after the place we found on Google was fully booked. Glad we did as it was a really nice experience

They have Music Triva Tuesday night, just going for dinner. we joined in and had a great night.

The service from one staff member was very disappointing.
I went to the counter to place an order, but the staff was busy adjusting the POS system or something similar. I was pretty sure that the staff obviously knew that we wanted to order but without any explanation, and the staff was just ignoring and left us waiting in silence for about 2-3 minutes, almost as if the staff was saying, "Just wait quietly." Then when we asked if we could place an order, there was no apology, just a brief "Wait a minute."
Additionally, when the staff brought the meal that my child ordered from the kids' menu, which comes with a soft drink and ice cream, the staff didn't ask us anything about it. There was no explanation on how to get the drink or ice cream, either. The staff was very friendly to regular customers, but there was no such courtesy extended to us.
The burger and chips from the kids' menu that my child ordered was carelessly placed in a BOWL with a burger ON a pile of chips, not even in a plate when served. I have never seen a dish presented in such a DISORGANISED plating of the dish in any restaurant on the Gold Coast.
I have lived in Merrimac for over 10 years, and although I only visit occasionally, as a local, this experience was very disappointing. Never coming back again unless the service improves and the staff should learn the basic of hospitality.

Terrible food could only give as low as a one star if I could give lower I would and to be fair I gave 3 chances in their meals don't eat here your chicken will be over fried and rubbery! Pasta is a no go also.

Ordered Calamari for an entree, was very surprised and pleased with the amount that came out!.. This photo was even after I had eaten a few pieces. Will definitely order again.

Once again the Merrimac tavern has been very average due to poor customer service, had dinner there tonight, ordered a entree (platter for 2-4 people) plus 3 mains.
I asked the lady when placing the order if the mains can be 15-20 minutes after the entree, and what do you know, they brought it all out together...
No thanks, you can take the mains back, there is not enough room on the table, and I did ask prior to ordering.
Food was great, but this type of service has happened on quite a few occasions.

Need to change back to normal batter on their fish. The pepper batter is not a welcomed change.
Absolutely awful now. Time to boycott again.

I went there on a Friday night for dinner with my partner and we were extremely disappointed with our food.
We ordered calamari as a starter, and then asked for the ribs and the rump steak for our mains. We were given the calamari and ribs only, of which the ribs had the wrong sides (chips, salad and mushroom sauce instead of potatoes and veggies).
I raised this with the staff who took the ribs back, and brought them back with the correct sides, and brought out the rump with chips and salad.
The steak was very dry but my partner managed to eat it, and the mushroom sauce tasted more like pepper sauce.
The potatoes were mashed, however they looked and tasted like they came out of a packet. The ribs were very tough, as though they had been cooked hours before, and slathered in BBQ sauce. There was a lot of fat as well that had not been trimmed.
The calamari was ok, and the only meal worth ordering again out of the three.

Had a table of 12 for dinner on a Saturday. All meals were prepared quickly and delivered at the same time. The quality was fantastic and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Great tavern, staff friendly and helpful. Nice friendly atmosphere, loads of seating inside and out. Tavern easy to find. Food was excellent, we had the chicken Burger and beef and Bacon Burger both came with massive portion of fries and the burgers were huge. Great value for money.
We will be back!
The only downside for us, was the smokers area is next too the outside food eating area so sometimes we did have some cigarette smoke drifting our way but it's a very well ventilated area so it wasn't unbearable.

Great place to catch up with friends for a couple of wines. I visit from interstate and it's a lovely atmosphere with friendly staff and good pub food. Always look forward to coming back.

Great place, but when served we saw the waiter eat out of our plate🤯 before bringing to the table. A few minutes later I saw the same waiter put a side chips and dim sims for himself again from another plate. How discussted and horrified I was. I have worked 20+ years in hospitality never have I seen this attitude towards the customer service, this waiter should be fired on the spot and management supervise a little closer, bye the way what does the chef do just let this slid ????
This has to be looked into immediately. I will discuss this experience to health and safety.

Great food and affordable meals. We went to the tavern on a Thursday night where they had $16 steak special on. The portion size was generous and the steak was cooked great.
When doing the meat raffles the lady on the microphone was very energetic and entertaining, it was a nice change to some other taverns around. Glad for the Merrimac Tavern to be my local and look forward to returning

Finally found a place that still gives you the option of chips and salad OR potato mash and veg with your meal.
My chicken parmigiana was 10/10, friendly staff, Easy going atmosphere. Highly recommend this place!

Drinks were good although a little pricy, food was well portioned for the price, not the atmosphere I would usually seek out for dinner but definitely not a bad experience

Average at best. Went for dinner where they have Parma as the ‘Monday night special’. If you like mass produced chicken schnitzel with jar sauce then this is the place for you.

As a long term Merrimac local it is good to see the tavern have a facelift. However, disappointing to see that the front deck, the nicest place to sit, is now allocated to the smokers so not only do they get best seats but as you enter the tavern you have to walk thru the cloud of smoke. It isn't very kid friendly, they should have a kids corner to cater to the local families. Meals are a good size.

Always good food and generous portion sizes, fast service, nice atmosphere.
In particular the man behind the bar/counter today serving was very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
We live Northern gc and anytime we go south we will stop in here for lunch.

A good local pub for us to visit. As a senior, the prices are certainly within our budget, but not only that, the menu certainly satisfies our palate. I love offal, so the Lambs Fry and Bacon, is my 1st choice.
